My mind is at ease

The place is fine. they are very friendly. and its clean. I am not there to see if my mom participates in their activities, but I doubt it with Alzheimer etc... My mind is at ease knowing that my mom is taken care of at the Walking Horse Meadows in Clarksville, TX. The food looks fine and the staff is receptive to what my mom wants, needs and requests. We are happy with the overall services.

Overall pretty good

Seems like a high quality facility. My mom has been there for just over 6 months. There was an issue when a few of the senior people left (I don't know why) about a month after my mom arrived. Before a new supervisor came in, my mother's care went down dramatically in quality for about a month or so. So much so that we actually considered moving her to a new place. She was not clean, not given her one-pill-a-day medication, was wearing other peoples clothes and all her socks were missing. Plus we received no communication what-so-ever from the staff. My mom does not need too much supervision, just help get her ready in the morning, and help get her ready for bed at night. But we waited before moving her and I'm glad we did. A new Supervisor came in and acknowledged the many problems and discussed our particular concerns. The issues that concerned us were taken care of, and from what we now see the facility is back to running efficiently and we feel fine with our mother being there. She seems to have adapted well and generally enjoys it there.

Nice looking place

We visited this community when we were looking into senior living options for a loved one. I thought this was a very nice looking place, and it seemed very well run! It wasn't the best fit for our loved one, the independent living building was separate from where the dining and activities take place, and I didn't think my loved one would have been up to all the walking. Both their assisted living and independent living areas looked very nice, and I would recommend them as being worth a look!

Very nice place, overall!

My loved one has only been here a short time, but so far our experience has been a good one overall! The staff here do a good job for the most part, and although we did have a few minor issues initially they responded to our complaints quickly and made changes. The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and well kept, and Mom says that the food is pretty good! Emeritus was recently bought out by Brookdale, and I have noticed a little shakiness during the transition. However Mom really seems to enjoy it here, and that is what really matters, I would definitely recommend them!

Nice and Clean

I feel everything has gone very well, The community is nice and clean. They are a little aggressive on their over caring sending my father to the hospital for every little thing, but he may bring this on himself by wanting to get up on his own. He does seem to enjoy everyone there and he thinks the food is okay.

good overall

They did a good job of explaining why they were designed the way they were. One area they could improve on though is this: before we found the place my father was able to walk, feed himself, and shower, but once he lost his capacity to do those things it was not working out. They could have been better at explaining what they are good at (dealing with people with dementia) and what they are not good at (giving full-time care).

glad mom is there

The people at Homewood Village of Genesee Valley are very helpful. Whatever you need, they are there for you. Mother complained a little that she did not always get the baths that she was scheduled for, and the laundry was not always done on schedule. So I can't give them a perfect score. Mom does seem very happy there though, and overall we have been very pleased. I'm glad she's there.

An honest opinion

I know that my aunt is in a safe environment, with lots of eyes on her and a lot of interaction with people. It is more living than she experienced in her own home. Lab orders are sent there so that she doesn't have to go out. PT comes there, per dr orders, as well as a podiatrist. There seems to be some issue as to using the dr on premises. I think some of the problem has to do with Racine vs Kenosha, and admitting rights into hospital. The elevator was an issue at first, but with lots of practice, my aunt is a wiz now. The food is great and staff really does observe how everyone is doing health wise. The bathing is a problem because my aunt prefers a tub, and rooms only have showers with a very rudimentary shower head, which apparently I'll have to change. The spa tub is fantastic, but getting her there is not easy, and staff cannot force her...it is asst living. The nurse on property is wonderful, I don't know how she handles it all. My hat's off to all the staff who choose to work there.

Nice looking place

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. This was a very nice looking place overall, and it was somewhere we were seriously considering for our loved one. The staff all seemed very friendly. However, they didn't leave me feeling entirely confident that it would be a good match in terms of care, I think our loved one would have been a bit more than they can handle.

A friendly, welcome atmosphere

Mom is just beginning to settle in at Homewood. She likes the friendly atmosphere and her children visit her often, so that's a convenience as well as a joy to her. Her biggest frustration is her own physical/mental aging.

good overall, but feel like I was bait and switched

We put my stepfather in a little over a month ago. I was very happy with the price at first, but then because he's fallen a couple of times he's become a "level 2" level of care, which has increased the cost. The possibility of the price going up that quickly was never mentioned. He's only been there a month, and 30 days in the price tag jumped way up. Since he is just barely a level 2, I think there should be a little leeway. I do feel like there's been a bit of a bait and switch.

The care was excellent.

Mom especially liked the food at Emeritus, I think that meals were the high point of her day. I think she liked the Homey feel of the site, as it reminded her of her last home. I think the nice music at meals was soothing, and helped her agitation. She also liked having her nails done. I do think that it would be good to add one more aide to the floor so that there was always someone present when the residents were "watching" television. The staff was very caring and solicitious, but I think that there should be at least one more "floater" available. I was saddened to find that the original manager (?Monica?) was out due to illness and could not return... I thought that her energy and focus was fabulous and it was one of the reasons that I placed Mom at Emeritus. Unfortunately, Mom had several falls at Emeritus and she fractured both hips which necessitated placement in a nursing facility. I am dismayed that regulations prohibit safety belts both in assisted living and nursing homes, as I think that that prohibition promotes falls, subsequent fractures and ultimately higher morbidity and mortality.

Residents of all functionality mixed together.

I would give their food a four. My concern was that when I toured it seemed like they made it sound that they would place my loved one with other men and with those that were experiencing a comparable level of Alzheimer's. However they are set up more in a general population sort of arrangement. This means that the more severe residents are mixed in with the more functional ones, and I don't think my loved one was ready for that quite yet. It would be nice if they were more up front with that. I did like the flexibility, and the opportunities for the family to participate.

Extremely helpful personnel

My mother has only been at the assisted living for a couple of weeks but so far she seems pretty happy there. The Fountains personnel is extremely nice and very helpful. They try to help her as much as they can. The facility is very clean. My mom seems ok with the food and doesn't complain but she is NOT a picky eater. Some of it doesn't look very appetizing to me and a couple of the ladies at her table aren't very happy with some of it. Mom has had a couple of medical issues since she went to the Fountains and I don't think that she has been able to participate in many of the activities yet. Thank goodness that she went to the Fountains when she did. Otherwise we don't have any complaints.

Review of Mallard Cove Senior Living Alzheimer's / Memory Care in Cincinnati, OH

Very nice, very clean, great tour, don't know if its a fit for my mom there yet, as we have several more visits scheduled in the coming days. Seemed to be a few people sitting around with nothing going on for them..

Review of Emeritus at Dartmouth Alzheimer's / Memory Care in Dartmouth, MA

Met with a representative there and had a good talk and tour but found the place was too small for our needs.

Nice place, and good food!

Things have gone well so far at Emeritus at Cherry Hill! It's a clean, well kept community, and the staff have all been very helpful and very friendly! They also do a great job with the food, she has had nothing but good things to say about it!

my review

I find the staff at Emeritus in Gainesville Florida to be top notch. I do have one problem though. I do feel that they are very much overpriced. I understand and appreciate that my grandmother is getting the very best of care but I think it could be done at a price to where it doesn't bankrupt a person savings so quickly
