Charter Senior Living

We had a very nice tour with Charter Senior Living. The marketing director who took us around was very knowledgeable and also compassionate with what we were going through as a family. She knew all the residents by name and knew things about them, so we could tell that she was very engaged. The facility was also in a great location for our family and pretty much met all of our standards. We were going to go with them, but unfortunately my mom declined to a point where they were not going to be able to care for her needs.

Our family had an in person tour and the experience was okay, they were in the process of remodeling but the facility was still nice. However they do not have that extended memory care unit so we had to decide against it.

Think twice about how much care they need and if they are getting adequate hydration.

We had a very good tour experience with Charter Senior Living of Newport News. The only downfall was the size of the facility, we felt it was too big and that our loved one may get lost.

I would recommend this community. The sales rep was new and we were new to looking at a place and in a bit of a rush when making the decision. I feel like if we had some different factors things may have went a little different. It was not the smoothest transition for us and our loved one. The staff are friendly and there is a new nurse in charge also that came in new around the same time as us and things were still being straightened out.

We chose Charter Senior Living mainly because of the convenience for our whole family. It is a beautiful facility as well. My loved one did need a lot of care and sometimes they did not get to him as fast as I thought they should have. But overall I think it is a nice place.

I am comfortable with the care they are giving during the current staffing and economic issues.

charter senior living is a fairly good place that is located close to family, making this transition very convenient. they could improve in their staffing retention, room upkeep and cleanliness. i also feel that the staff should make more of an effort to encourage the residents to leave their room(s) and become more engaged with activities and one another - specifically those in need of memory care. overall a good community and i would recommend.

I would let others know that we have been happy with the staff and the overall community. This has been a good fit for my loved one. There have been COVID lockdowns and this has caused the food to be delivered to the residents' rooms.

Neither my husband nor I were comfortable with his residence. No phone in the room and very bad Wi-Fi. Yes, we were told in advance. He only stayed a month and is now home.

This community gives you a warm feeling and feels like home more than other places. As far as the staff I had a couple that were not so helpful and caused a few problems. The food was good and the dining room was very nice. I met people there that I enjoyed visiting with.

This was a nice community.

Charter Senior Living Towson has been working out fine. The food is quite acceptable. We did have an incident where our loved one had to be put on meds for an inappropriate outburst towards the staff, but considering her condition, she's just not her normal self. But overall we've been happy with the facility and the level of care they provide.

The people are very friendly, and it's a very clean facility. It's more of a family atmosphere. As far as outings, they told us that if you needed to go to a specific shop, just let them know a couple of days in advance and they would go. But that hasn't been the case. They do still go on outings, but not based on requests.

The tour was lovely and the gal giving us the tour was great. They do have a beautiful courtyard and the residents rooms open up to it. When we were touring though we did not see many residents out at all and no one was utilizing the courtyard. It was just a little more depressing than some other places we looked into.

I visited twice before I placed my mother here, each time I was impressed with the staff members, they are very engaged with their residents and knew them all by name. You can tell they really care. I would recommend and already have.

This was a very good location. This facility has very good reviews and it was a lovely facility. We were stuck between this facility and another one and we just so happen to go with another. They were very friendly people.

Our family had an in person tour and Bartlett is a converted hotel so the layout was really nice. However, the rooms were like a hotel suite, very small. They did not offer full sized kitchens, one room we saw just had a microwave and two-burners, and did not have enough room for a washer and dryer. If the accommodations would of worked out here, this would of been our top choice because we really liked the staff.

Our loved one was there for respite care and during her stay the community was kept spotless clean. Everyone was extremely friendly even on the first day we got there, everyone from the house keeping to the maintenance team came and welcomed our loved one. Our loved one tends to be a picky eater but overall the meals were excellent. They did have activities going on for those who could and wanted to participate in them. However the only negative we had, was when we were moving out our loved one the medical aid came by with all of our loved ones medication for us to sign off of and take home. Not even an hour after getting home, they called us to see if another patients medication got put into the bag and in fact there was another residents medicine. My husband drove back to the facility to return to medication but the medical aid left for the day and no one else knew what was going on. Also we later founded out not all of our loved ones medication was put into that bag either.

The staff members have been very good to our family so far, and after touring three other communities we liked the size and layout of these apartments the best. Also they seemed to of had everything our loved one was going to need at an affordable and reasonable price.
