Would recommend. We were attracted to them because of the cost and convenient to where I live.

Yes, there are improvements. Why are they asking me to bring bath soap/wash and deodorant for my mother when we pay them [fee removed] per month? Shouldn't they supply that? Also several months ago we took 4 or 5 large black bags full of unopened Depends to the facility and they still charged us a monthly fee. ????? Also, I don't find out about happenings at the facility until it is too late to make plans to be there.

Overall, our experience at The Cottages has been a good one. My mother has dementia and is still in Assisted Living. We have been here for [date removed] years. The management team is A+. Great communication. Personable. Caring. Can't say enough good things about them. The nursing care is excellent. Activities are good, both in Assisted Living and Memory Care. Meals are ok. Definitely nutritious. Large portions. Some things are very good. Others so, so. But we're not expecting fine dining. Generally speaking, the daily caregiving staff (M-F) is pretty good. There are some that are exceptional, others that are somewhat lazy. Weekend staffing is not up to par with weekday care and turnover is high. The Cottages does seem to promote their exceptional people but that always impacts daily care during the transitional period. I'm sure this is an industry problem and not isolated to The Cottages of Perry Hall. I hope this helps. Overall, The Cottages does a good job.

The caregivers at Charter Senior Living are excellent but the time to get substantive responses from administration can be too lengthy.

We picked them because of your recommendation ,no down payment and smaller facility. I would recommend to others.

When it comes to the care services, we have nothing to compare to...mom is in memory care. My expectations were skewed since I didn't really know what my mom was capable of for a couple months...memory care is expensive as expected....however we would recommend this community to other families

Beautifully decorated apartment. Facility is decorated nicely for Holidays. Food is very good. CNAs are very friendly and helpful. There is limited staff because the facility is not full at this time. My father had an issue with his TV/cable hookup that took quite a while to get figured out. Very old cable boxes. All is good now. They have an excellent physical therapist and occupational therapist on staff too. Close to stores and doctors. It was a godsend because my father cannot live alone.

I would say make several visits, during meal time, activity time, evening. Talk to residents and asked them how they feel about the facility. I felt administrators always took the time to talk to me. We were also there during Covid, so it was a weird time. Liked the rooms, dining room, cheeriness, close to me for everyday visits.

They could have more activities, and I wish my loved one could eat in the assisted living side as I think the food may be better. My loved one still has her wits about her. She is cognitive unlike most of the ones in memory care.

She's had some pest problems and with her issues, the room smells. The staff at Southern Pines is great. Overall they do ok.

Overall it is clean but they forgot to clean my moms bathroom a couple of times. My mom isn't a fan of their food. They do pretty good with games. The cost is very reasonable compared to other facilities

We like that the facility is on one level and easy to access the main room for eating and activities. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families, but the facility is best for those that are more on the independent side.

Overall she is fitting in my mother is difficult I do understand. The staff are fabulous. They are doing a remodeling and there is a pest issue which could possibly be an issue due to the remodeling. I wish they would encourage our loved one to take better care of herself, but again we do understand our loved one can be difficult. The food is ok, I have eaten a few times and would give that a 5. They do have quite a few activities and our loved one is getting involved more and more, that is a 10.

Comments - very caring and the small facility means the staff knows the residents. Downside: constant turnover of managers and team leads, I don't think any were in place more than 3 months. Except the cook who is their best asset.

It is a great place to take someone needing memory care. They were the only ones that would take such young, strong, man in his 50s with some aggression.

My aunt has been bed bound since February. The first facility she went to after leaving the hospital didn't really encourage her to get out of her room, they just left her in her room. With Charter, my aunt was in the dining room within the first week. She enjoys playing bingo and being able to me more social.

The staff were awesome and very helpful. Sometimes it was difficult getting the aides to hand my mom the phone when I called. I felt like it was an “effort” to go down the hall and they said she was sleeping just so I wouldn’t get to talk. I felt bad that more people don’t live there. I think more liveliness and activities would have occurred with more people. Larry, the director, was awesome. Very accommodating. Too bad he isn’t there anymore! :(

Never realized how expensive this would be. Was good we started this before I wanted. It's taken a long time for her adjust. Lots of depression and a difficulty with her dog. Thought for sure I was going to have another pup. But is working out now.

My experience has probably been better than my aunt’s who lives there. I am her PoA and custodian. I think Charter has been easy to work with and straight forward. Facilities are good compared to similar or more expensive priced communities. For me it really helps that they are 5 min from my house. . My aunt says the food is ok but not great. She’s also had some issues working through conflicts with other residents. Most of the staff is friendly. She likes the Operations director a lot. Overall I’m satisfied though and my aunt intents to stay there for the long haul. Strong 4 stars.

They were very helpful getting a placement in desperate situation I highly recommend Charter of Vinings.
