Charter Senior Living

The facility is top-notch and cream of the crop. I didn't appreciate it, as it was my first experience, but since my Mom was moved to a Medicade assisted facility, I have to say, Charter was amazing. The staff is incredible. . It's also very welcoming, charming, and cleaner than any place I've ever seen. [name removed] is the main attraction there, and he is like family still. The downside was the expense, but it is clear why now. Comparing facilities now, I'm in horror at what is considered standard in the industry. I was ashamed when I saw the conditions of her new place.

Mom has been there for about a year. This location was going downhill with tremendous staff turnover until about early [date removed] They brought in an expert to re-establish excellent care and we have noticed a dramatic change. New, far more experienced and caring staff have been hired. New Memory Care Director. New Executive Director. It’s night and day. Attention to my Mom is dramatically improved and communications with family is significantly better than it had been. It is well on its way to being where it once was - a top of the line care facility. We are very excited about the improvements that have been made and look forward to the continued improvements to get back to five star excellence.

My mom has been doing so well since e she moved into Charter and each day/has great activities planned for her to enjoy and stay active! I do wish the memory care floor area was as open and bright as the remainder of the common areas but the layout does work for the MC residents. The field trips they take are a breathe of fresh air knowing Mom can still get out and about and she has already made a few friends. The only downside side for me has been learning what we need to provide in terms of actual things for her apt/room and not having a handyman readily accessible for some of the stuff I haven’t been able to do so easily on my own like assembling furniture and so on but we will get there! Looking forward to the warmer weather so mom can spend a little more time outside. Haven’t eaten there too much but food was okay that I had the two times I ate in the dining room. No pets in memory care but they can have them in regular senior apts. wish they had a door key/tag for visitors

I like how friendly people are. When there is an issue they try to address it promptly. They have a system where my dad picks out ideas he wants for his meal the next day. He doesn't always get what he's requested. At times it's hit and miss. Overall though I feel that they do a very good job here and care about the people who live her. This means a lot

The facility was new and close to our house. Make sure you ask how they judge the care given.

It worked out well for my mom and I'm glad I found a place quickly to move her out of the other assisted living facility she was in. Very good communication with the staff. The girl i was dealing with went out of her way to help me get my mom in there in a short notice and it was greatly appreciated. They do need to help the residents engage more with other residents more and encourage them to do things that are happening and go on outings. They are lacking in that respect in my opinion

The facility is clean, modern and has the amenities needed to provide quality care for the residents. The staff are very friendly, they care about the residents and the family and are very responsive to feedback. There is a high turn-over of the staff and management. I think the corrective action should be in training and less firing.

It has been a good experience. They are easy to work with.

I have lived here over a year and found the staff and residents to be friendly. I have made several close friends and the staff is always willing to stop and talk to you or wave if they are busy. One has purchased fresh fruit and given me and a cup full. Our second floor has a large selection of books which makes great reading material.

I like that it's small and personal and all on 1 level. They could improve on the storage options in the closets in the rooms and the food could be stepped up a bit for senior palette needs.

Mom is getting great care. Staff is friendly and manager as well as nurse is very engaging and really do care. Mom’s only complaint is that she doesn’t like the food. She is a picky eater so I am sure it is fine just not for her.

[name removed] and staff are very nice and helpful. I feel like my nanny is in a place that truly cares about her well-being. The new updates they’ve done to the building are very nice and make it feel very homey.

Make sure the facility has enough help to care for your love ones. GO and check out the place when they don't know your coming My husband had to eat puree and hated it we ask to change it. It had to be done doctor. It took oolong to get things done. He also couldn't see and they feed him after 3 times they took food away. If he needed water he could not fine class. Very few activities. Not even a few in a wheelchair. That was wrong place for my husband he was only there for 24 days. I should have never put him there.

[name removed] enjoys many activities there - Exercise, movies, entertainment, and the food is good.

Clean, basic needs facility is economical compared to more expensive nursing care facilities for more active residents. Friendly, energetic African immigrants who appreciate the opportunity to work and make an impact for end of life. Your recommendation lead us to choose this facility at time of need and worked out well.

Don't bring anything of value to decorate their room because items do get passed around by the other residents. Make sure your female loved one is okay with having a male caregiver because Charter allows men to clean and change female residents. Label everything.

I keep getting texts about housekeeping but when I visit his room floor is sticky and there is trash in the floor. Nothing major but not enough to give 5. The rooms/amenities are comparable to the rest and are great. The non privacy fenced grounds nice big area to walk and can see through outside of fence.

The facility is light and bright. The staff has been friendly. My mom enjoys the activities. She appreciates having options at meal time. The laundry services are great. The staff puts her clothes away. Housekeeping is doing a good job.

The staff is very friendly and patient. The location is great. [name removed] says he does not like the food but he always cleans his plate.

It's a small place. You trade in abundant square footage and a variety of activities for the comfort of a great staff to resident ratio. It really feels intimate and personal. You get to know everyone very quickly. Some people will love that, others may want something more institutional. My mom loves the food. I think it's repetitive and bland. Maybe not a fair criticism since old folks likely need routine and blander food.
