An all-inclusive community

When searching for a memory care community for our mother, we compared pricing. Our mother needed help because of her memory issues and Autumn Leaves of Orland Park provides care for an all-inclusive price. While we felt the price was expensive, you get what you pay for and we feel the value is definitely there for our Mom. The staff is very attentive and are open to our constant contact with them. There's a doctor who comes to the site for individual care. The staff provides medication management and most of the rooms are private. Because Mom has been a fall risk, we feel that she is in a very safe environment. She even receives physical therapy. The community has population of about 40 residents and looks like a beautiful mansion. The are large rooms, sun rooms and alcoves throughout. We used caretakers prior to finding Autumn Leaves, who didn't work out. We are so happy that we were able to find such a wonderful place for our mother.

Very Impressed

I would highly recommend Arden Courts in Hazel Crest to others. The community is a very nice, home like environment, and the staff are very friendly and caring. Everyone is trained in Alzheimer's and Dementia care and they really seem to have a passion for what they do. In addition to providing great care, they also are a great source of education and support to the community by offering monthly caregiver support groups, and free educational seminars. They also have a resource library available and will be more than happy to provide you with information and brochures on topics like communication tips, behaviors, and dementia basics just to name a few. I was very impressed with this community and I would recommend them to others.

Great place when you have to make a hard decision

My dad was in Autumn Leaves for a couple of months before his Alzheimers progressed rapidly and passed away. It was extremely hard for my family to see him not only decline with the disease, but see him have to enter a facility. The staff is truly dedicated and cares about the patients who live there. Activities are abundant. The aides are caring and respectful. In hindsight I think that they should have more aides, because the residents really keep everyone on thier toes! The nurses are amazing. Our nurse walked us through the stages of what was happening medically the day my dad died and was very compassionate and caring. There were 4 siblings who rotated days every week and our experiences were pretty consistent. It made me sad that more family members of the other residents didnt come and visit. They have nice outdoor courtyards that we would often sit outside and let dad get some fresh air. If you can afford it, one of the better type of homes you will find.

Choosing Autumn Leaves

My dad has been at Autumn Leaves for over a year and I'm so grateful we found this place. Dad's minister, who has been in the Orland Park area for over 20 years visiting church members in such facilities, told me when we were checking out homes, if it were his parent he would choose Autumn Leaves. While we were impressed with Autumn Leaves ourselves, it really helped to hear from someone who had visited all the places frequently. Dad often tells people who are getting a tour what a wonderful place it is and how much he enjoys the staff. I think that speaks volumes as well.

Thank you Autumn leaves for your love.

My father had Alzheimer's for 7 years and we were unable to care for him for the last 5 months of his life, even with 24 hour help. He changed from a complacent, sweet and gentle man to one who was angry, combative, aggressive, and unwilling to accept care. We were at wit's end. Upon entering this facility, we knew immediately that my father would do well here and it would help us enjoy him. After several days of adjustment - which were hard for us, my father, and the staff - my father began to change - he improved!! WE discovered that he needed the socialization, the sunlight, the routine, the ranch layout, the appropriate bathroom and showers, and the stimulation. He became sweet, gentle, caring again and he began to WALK with a walker!! He began to smile when we visited him, he began to talk to us in his own way. His appetite also improved and he began to eat. We visited my father every day for ourselves. We visited at all hours of the day - from 7 am to 10 pm. We saw first hand the care, concern and love given to all the residents there. We were able to call at any hour and always received a report on my father. Summary: the last five months of my father's life at Autumn Leaves, were the best I had had in the last year with him.

Mom is happier

I felt relieved when my Mom moved into Emeritus. It was very clean, friendly and the residents looked like they were very well cared for. When I moved Mom from her other assisted living group, Emeritus was very, very helpful. They did everything they could to make her transition easy. They greeted her with love and care and are still giving her this same attention. It is very hard having to turn the care of a loved one over to someone else. One always wonders are they going to treat her the same way as I would. I feel she is getting the care I would give her. Since her move, she is more relaxed and is much happier. She is not needing as much medication to "settle" her down.

Attractive and cozy but pricey

Staff was very friendly. There were dining rooms on each floor including hydration stations and snacks between meals. The on site chef had a vast menu. The cost for a studio, $3900 or small one bedroom, $4500. They did not allow individual pets but had a community pet. They have an exercise program. I thought the rental rates were high for the small rooms with average amenities which did not include a pool, balcony, patio, gym, whirlpool or 4 season sunroom. There are 5 levels of care with prices starting at $700 for level one and $2750 for level five. The rooms I viewed are too small for a couple. It cost an additional $1675 for a spouse. The rooms I saw were too small for a full or queen bed and a dresser. The rooms fit a twin bed and have average sized closets.

They are very good. They are just wonderful.

They are very good. They are just wonderful. The food is very good, she cleans her plate and has gained some weight. The overall environment is very homey. Everyone is so sweet and kind to the residents and they are just so genuine. They call me and let me know when things happen. When I visited before we made a choice, I noticed in the dining room were linen table cloths and flowers on the table. It never smells bad, it always smells nice and fresh, and you can tell the staff cares about the residents. Everything was well kept and nice.

MORNINGSIDE OF FRANKLIN

My Mom moved into Morningside, Franklin, TN in August of 2013 not a happy camper. Was very upset at the family decision to place her there and struggled with a less than steller attitude for 2-3 months. Not sure what happened, but she is a totally different person these days . . . understands she is absolutely where she needs to be, loves the staff, is participating in Bingo and other activities; enjoy meal time with her table mates. She is receiving great care, a staff whose hearts are in what they do and genuintely care for the residents. Complains every once in awhile about the food, but who doesn't??!! I've eaten a number of meals there with her, esp. at Sunday lunch and food has always been quite good. My siblings and I are so relieved to know that she's in a safe, loving environment.

Very nice place for senior care

My Mother has been at Morningside since just before Thanksgiving. The care there is very good with friendly staff. The facility is very clean and well furnished. You can make your room "your own" with your own furnishings and little touches. I would recommend Morningside to anyone looking for senior care.

My dad lives at The Legacy of Anderson

It is a beautiful and comfortable place for my dad to live in while he is still fairly independent. He owned his own home and took care of himself until recently when he had several falls and was growing weary of cooking and cleaning for himself. Legacy is the perfect option as he ages and needs a little help. They have wonderful meals and lots of activities for the residents.
