Bickford Senior Living

We toured this community and it was very nice but all they had was 1 room open and it was on the second floor and they wanted to be on the first floor. They were huge rooms. It was very clean. The staff was helpful and answered all of my questions. Great outdoor area too.

This was my first experience with looking at Assisted Living and it was very encouraging. The building is beautiful and had lovely season decorations outdoors and in. I went at dinner time and the food smelled delicious. Residents seemed to be at several levels of mobility, but everyone seemed to have any assistance they needed. They offer exercise classes and physical therapy which my Mom really wants and have a good outdoor space to sit and enjoy the garden. Pet-friendly is a plus!

It has been really good for my mom. They have all kinds of activities, like exercises and games. She also plays the piano and everyone enjoys the music. I hear she has made lots of friends too. The meals are very good and she has been enjoying it a lot. It is a very, very nice place and the care they provide is working out very well.

Facility created a home like atmosphere. Staff seemed very friendly and attentive to residents. Smaller facility gave you a sense of community. Activities seemed a little limited but after talking to staff they create activities based on interests.

Mom is doing okay since moving here it has been a big adjustment but she is settling in. She is keeping busy with all the activities the community has which is good for her. The food is good no complaints. The staff, for the most part, has been very good. They are extremely nice and patient, however, we have had to tell them not to ask what my mother wants as far as housekeeping and bed linens to be done and just to do them. Mom has more of apartment living which is nice because she was able to bring some of her personal belonging with her.

I had a nice experience during my tour of this community. Everyone was kind to my family, and I. The staff I met was friendly, and helpful. The community was nice, and clean from what we saw. Everyone treated us well, and our tour was a pleasant one.

I was very impressed with the fact that the director of this community did our tour on a holiday weekend because they knew we were in a bit of a bind. They did an excellent job, took their time showing us around their beautiful community and were able to answer all our questions we felt that the location was not as close to us as we would like but I would recommend community.

We liked the staff who were very caring to my mom's need. The community was clean and we liked the environment. They offer my mom a lot of healthy choices. We were glad to see that she was activities with the other residents with the many activities. We would recommend this community for the care of a loved one to other families.

Loved the facility. The person scheduled to give our tour was not there, but was still given a great tour (only drawback was our tour guide was not able to answer a couple of questions.) I intend to follow-up to have questions answered.

Bickford of Okemos was a really nice community. It was very clean and well kept. When we toured the facility there was a different staff member, one for intake, one for activities, one for the caregivers, who explained how their department operated. The only reason we did not choose this community was that there was not the type of room we wanted available.

Nice place with nice people. Clean. No foul smell. No residents asking for help. The rooms are tiny, though. Would not work for my mom who has oxygen, electric wheelchair, extra tanks, etc.

We toured a few communities but none of them gave us the feeling that this one did. The community just gives off a feeling that your family there. The staff and residents seem generally happy and they enjoy each other. They offer a lot of activities to do. The food seems ok mom is not a big eater anyway so it would be hard to judge.

My mother is doing here in this community. She is receiving great care, and I'am comfortable with her move here. She is still adjusting a bit, but overall all is well. I know she is safe, and in good hands. The staff is great, they are always kind when I visit, and have been helpful when needed. They do a good job with the cleanliness around the community. They provide nice meals, and have great activities offered. She loves to play, and enjoys sitting out on the front patio. This is a lovely community, and I would recommend it.

This community looked clean and well maintained when we visited. The person that took us on tour was nice. This community did not offer the care my loved one required at the time we were looking.

I had recently taken a tour of this community for my aunt and I have no complaints of how things went for us. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions we had for them in detail. The floor plan was easy to navigate through and had a lot of great amenities for all of the residents. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone it was just not the right fit for my aunt in the end decision.

The staff is very friendly. They seem knowledgeable, specifically in the ability and nuances of how to treat people with dementia. Their concern with tailoring a schedule specific to the person and their needs seems to be their directive, which is outstanding. They actually deserve a 4.5 rating from my tour impressions.

[Removed] was very friendly, educational and spent over 2 hours helping me understand the assisted living/memory care process as well as where my Mom might fit best between those two. The Bickford was lovely, appeared fairly new, clean, bright. The memory care area is small with not many residents. It appeared cluttered but I understand this is to help with memories. We will consider the Bickford for my Mom.

This is a very nice community, and my tour of it went well. The community appeared to be well maintained, and everything looked nice. The staff was friendly, and kind. They answered my questions. It was a nice experience overall.

I have no complaints about how things are going for my mother since she moved into this community. The staff are friendly and attentive to her needs as well as comforting. She has had no problems with the meals and enjoys participating in activities with the other residents from time to time. Overall we are pleased and would recommend it to anyone.
