Bickford Senior Living

We chose Bickford of Champaign because the staff members had been here for a long time and they were very caring in their philosophy. They truly care about him and that is evident. They have been good with communication. I would tell others that even though the transition is difficult, the end result is wonderful after your loved one becomes more acclimated. The things we had hoped to accomplish by moving him in here are coming to be and it is really wonderful to see. I would recommend to other families who are looking.

Overall we had a good experience at Bickford. They were very family oriented facility and they were great about working with us, especially towards the end. I would recommend to others looking.

It is a pretty expensive community but they are keeping a close eye out for our loved one. The staff is very caring and helpful, and the care services they provide is like first class.

My dad said this community was home when he passed they cried with me. They treated him just like a member of the family. I have recommended this community to many people already, And they have really liked it.

This community is a beautiful place and the care I received from A specific individual was above and beyond what she needed to do. The room sizes were nice, and the food was good. I would definitely recommend this community

We chose Bickford of Iowa because we were pressed for time, they had availability, and this facility was a little more affordable than some others that we looked into. It ended up turning out to be a good fit for the care that she needed. They had 2 different room sizes to choose from, and we initially chose the larger room. It is smaller, but adequate for what she needs. She gets along really well with the staff members and seems to be happy and content here. The only thing that has bothered me is that we are able to visit, but there are limited opportunities which can be hard with my work schedule, so I am not able to see her as much as I would like. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this community.

My ratings are based on my loved one's feedback. The community was good and I would recommend this community. We had a few window visits during the time that my loved one was there. My loved one enjoyed the food, and he stated that it was too much of it though.

I had a great experience with Bickford. The weekends staff was a skeleton, and I believe that they could use more staff on the weekends. I kept telling the community that my loved one needed to be reassessed for his condition, this was my only complaint. If a family member says a loved one needs to be reassessed, they should be reassessed prior to moving in. I feel they were attentive for my loved one. The staff and community were friendly. It was a beautiful community, and I would recommend it.

The community is a good place. They have had a few challenges with COVID, due to the lock down. We are able to visit in person now, and only recently. The visits are limited to porch visits or in a room and it is by appointment only. The time is limited to 30 minutes with our loved one. There is a newsletter posted on their website. They have COVID case numbers on their website.

Overall it is a pretty good facility. It is cost-effective. It is newer than many others in the area. All the staff are very friendly and care about the residents. The food is pretty good. The room sizes are okay, the one-bedroom units are a little tight for two people. I have been impressed with the way they are handling Covid-19.

The staff at Bickford of Worthington was very caring. The room size and layout of the community was supurb. The food was above avarage. They had nice outdoor space for residents to use. It was a positive experience.

Bickford is a good choice. The food is okay, my dad would like a little more variety. The room sizes and the layout of the community are good. The staff is good, just wish there was not so much turn over.

My mother was not able to utilize her space in the community because of her condition. We had to ask several times for someone to come in and vacuum her apartment. Other than that, the rest of the community was consistency clean. The staff was very friendly, especially the front desk personnel. The care at Bickford was a little lacking. They did not seem quite capable of providing her the care she needed despite us being told they would be able to do so when she moved-in. Because the building was old, it meant some of the doorways could not accommodate for her assisted stand lift. They were never able to get her into the shower or onto the other level of memory care, which contained another shower and tub. We don't feel the community was worth the price tag, especially once my mother moved in and we realized they were not able to handle the level of care that she needed. During the assessment they assured me they could take care of her and in fact, they could not. The biggest issue for me was that often times I would visit my mother in her room and there was often times other residents' belongings in her closet, which I immediately turned over to management. Management failed to properly address this even after I brought it up multiple times. It got to the point where the care giving staff was refusing to answer questions about my mother's care, which I felt was unacceptable. The activities at the community were good, however, as they had quite a few activities available for the residents. They brought in outside professionals to help with entertaining the residents and provided other activities in-house like karaoke, tailgates for football games, and others. They also took residents off-site, however my mother was never able to utilize those trips. If you are able to communicate, walk, and be mobile, it is a great place. If you are not, however, it is probably not the best option for you as the care they are able to provide each resident is limited.

Overall Bickford provides great service to my mom. They communicate well with the family, keeping us advised on mom's condition. There were a couple of communication issues when mom first moved in, but the staff has been very responsive and have resolved the issues. The activities they provide for my mom are appropriate for her condition and are much appreciated to keep her engaged. I appreciate seeing the schedule of activities and the meals planned daily online, since I live 3 hours away. I only wish there were cameras online so that I could look in on my mom, at least in the common areas. I have seen this available at pet day care facilities; it would be nice to be able to do so with my mom.

I liked the size of this place. It felt like a community, more homey.

beautiful facility. don't know the cost yet so rating it 4 stars since it might be cost prohibitive. has a really nice memory care area (which had no rooms available and that was what we needed) and the assisted living was also really nice. would consider depending on cost and availability. staff we met very nice.

I met with [name removed]. The facility was clean and bright and open. It had a good feel. Nice common areas. Unfortunately only the smallest studios are currently available.
