Bickford Senior Living

Very helpful and responsive to need for quick admission. Staff very busy and difficult to reach post-admission. Night shift nursing staff inconsistent availability and meds do not seem to be administered consistently. My mother complained of not receiving pain meds as needed and was writhing in pain when I visited. My mother complained some of the staff were not very nice. The Director and leadership seem good and caring, but they seem maybe understaffed.

My mother in law got a one bedroom here. Beautiful place, nice staff. Something she and her family was the 30 day period at move in where they had to manage her medications, even though she was doing it for herself before. Understandable, but hard for her to take considering the $[removed]add on charge for that service per month until she is reassessed after the 30 days and has a note from her physician. Since she won’t go to dining room (her choice, not theirs), she was getting cold leftovers after dinner. This seems to have been corrected. Still a big adjustment for her, but the staff has been gracious. Hopefully she will start getting out more into the community there.

Bickford seems to be a good community overall with a solid administrative team. [name removed] who manages the meds and day resident routines is very dedicated to giving her best for the residents each day. It has been a month since my mom came to Bickford. It has been a learning curve for her as well as the Bickford care staff for settling into a new daily routine. Overall, I feel Bickford is a good community for mom. I do feel that their meal plans and alternate options are in need of some overdo attention based on what the residents are served each day. The initial walk through presentation far exceeds the day to day actual meals and options the residents are presented with daily.

Because my sister doesn’t not need a lot of help some times is over looked.need to improve food both volumn and flavor.Week end there are very few helpers and no actives for them to engage in .loved management but need more help on weekends

The lady who was the director when my mom lived there was not pleasant and if I needed to talk with her she never seemed available to answer questions. I am to understand that she does not work there anymore. My mom did not care for the food but she did eat what she could. The other staff was amazing and I truly liked many of them.

I'd give a 4.6 on all of the items on the list!!! We've been very pleased and mom is doing well!!! Thank you for helping us find this facility!!!! I love that I can go there anytime and let myself in with the fob that they supply us with....that was a definite feature that helped with our choice of places!! Yes I would recommend the facility to others!!! And it's so close to my home which is really nice cuz I can visit with mom often!!!

I like the homey feeling that's they've created. The front looks like a front porch at home. I also love the size. It's small and I think that's what we prefer.

I like that my mom feels safe there . I like that it feels like living in a mansion and at the same time in a home. My mom has been there only two months. I can't think of anything right now that they could improve on. Yes I would recommend the community to other families and I have!

-We like that it is very close to. where we live. -We like the layout of the community, being smaller and more easily accessible for mom. Also meaning fewer residents and more attention by the caregivers. -We like that it has a very home like feeling. -We like that the staff are all very friendly. We would certainly recommend the Bickford. It is a very nice community and the staff and caregivers are really great at what they do.

I thought everyone (staff) was very friendly and concerned for [name removed]. Unfortunately [name removed]was much sicker than we knew and didn't live very long after moving in. If I (we) had known. She was going to regress so very quickly I probably would not have moved her to Bickford. Staff did the best they could and were equipped to do. It is a beautiful faculty. The dietary tried to find foods that she would eat and make specific foods just for her.

At times there is only 1 caregiver on duty for 15 residents and there are some very high fall risk that can not be left to tend to another need until someone comes from other side. There is not good communication between them at various levels.

Limited options available when I needed it, but the facility had opening and I was pleased with seeing residents not just in their rooms; did not smell institutional, people looked happy and thriving. I just wish I didn’t have to spend every dime my LO brings in to have her there.

The staff is amazing and very involved in making it a happy and enjoyable experience. Nursing staff very attentive The food was okay, nothing fancy but the staff worked hard to find something you liked. Not a fan of administrative staff. They just want your money and then tough to reach after they get it.

QMAa and CNAs are very good. The medical staff is Hansa out of state. Mom never saw doctor at Hansa. They send Nurse practitioner whom drives 5 hours to get there to do rounds once a week on Fridays. Pharmacy slow in processing. Two attempts to get urine sample out for testing to lab failed. The director of wellness is LPN. Only one RN on staff.

I highly recommend them. They took good care of my parents. My only complaint is they need to give the door code to family members so we don't have to call staff to be let in and out..thats annoying

We were really happy with the care and consideration that [name removed] was shown while he stayed there. He was only there six weeks. They were very helpful. The meals were delicious and beautifully served. They bake their own bread and the staff was very considerate. It's expensive, but I think that's the nature of the beast. It was clean, warm and inviting and smelled great. I especially liked the way you could have a dog there and they had a nice outdoor seating area and the ability to have your dog in your room was really nice.

I am pleased with having Mom there. Very good with the medical staff. They just replaced the director. So I have no experience with the new staff.

The Rivers is a very nice facility, whose price(while likely not the cheapest) is competitive. Our family is happy with mom's care. Our mom has hearing issues, and they provide a cleaning every three to four months, which is a very nice service.

I would definitely recommend it. The entire staff is great. It is centrally located between my siblings and 8 minutes from my home. When interacting with the contact point, there was the most genuine approach amongst all 5 locations that contacted me. When we toured the facility, all of us there felt like it was the place for her.

A Place for Mom found Bickford of Lancaster and recommended it to us and we visited and they were very helpful. All staff are very kind and professional. Everyone was polite . Very expensive
