Bickford Senior Living

Mom is doing pretty good at this community. I have good communication with the staff and they are all friendly. We had Thanksgiving dinner there and it was good. This was one of the nicest places we looked at. The community is open and there are more chairs and couches in the hallways to sit at. They offer daily activities and I would highly recommend this community.

This community seemed clean when I visited it. The staff I met were nice and they had a lot of activities. This community was a little more expensive than what we were looking for.

Our mom is 94. The last 15 years she has lived on her own but was becoming less comfortable doing that. Giving up the independence of a house was hard, but Bickford made it easier with larger apartments than other facilities we toured and a staff that was welcoming, engaging and understanding. Now six weeks in, mom is making some new friends, loves the food and feels very safe. We couldn't be more pleased.

We moved my husband into Sunrise Worthington recently and have had no second thoughts about this decision. He was greeted warmly by all the staff, and as new assistants rotated in over the next few days that welcome continued. The neighborhood approach of this facility makes it feel much less institutional, and residents are free to wander about all the areas. Every staff member knows the names of every resident. We have been particularly impressed that ALL staff -- including custodial, handymen, cooks, administrators --engage with the residents. There is an RN on duty at all times, and physicians/ X-ray technicians/ physical therapists etc can make calls as well. The staff are proactive communicating with family members about their loved one's stay. The food is very good, and activities engage residents in a variety of ways. The rooms themselves are very comfortable, and kept to a high level of cleanliness. There is one care manager for 7 residents, with additional caregivers and staff members floating through the neighborhoods as needed to bathe, feed, etc. This is not a cheap facility. They charge ala carte, with a basic charge for the room, additional charges for incontinence care, medication supervision, etc. So if you have the resources, you will receive the very best care for your loved one here.

Well, my siblings and I all agreed getting mom into an assisted living facility was NOT going to be a pleasant task......Boy were we wrong. Bickford of Ames in Ames,Ia made the task SO EASY!! After years of " I'm not moving out of my house!", we were left wondering 'Huh? What just happened!'. The staff there welcomed her with smiles and was especially welcoming to her which disarmed any misgivings that she had and now she is so happy. Thanx a million.

Our mother was diagnosed with severe stage dementia/alzheimer requiring 24/7 care. We wanted a place specializing in memory care and would give her an environment of comfort, safety and love. We looked at several facilities in her area and realized Bickford met our needs. Our mother is happy there and the staff is wonderful. I live out of state and get frequent updates from staff consistent with what my siblings who live there tell me . I love the patients are not locked away in a wing. They have the opportunity to go anywhere in the facility because it is small (42 apartments), the staff knows all the patients, and there are alarms on all the doors to keep patients from walking away. Also visitors must be buzzed in by staff. Bickford is definitely the answer for our needs/concerns!

They offer a variety of activities Monday through Friday. I would like to see some activities on the weekend. The food looks good and smells good. The chef is willing to assist in anyway they can. They have done a good job of accommodating her diet. The community is clean and I have already recommended this community. I would also recommend A Place for Mom.

The director that took us on a tour of the community was very nice and knowledgable. The community seemed clean. This is a two story building with an atrium. The location was not convenient for us.

My wife was at this community for awhile before she was moved to a nursing home and passed away. The staff worked well with her and the family. We liked the place and she had a good time there. The community was clean and I would recommend this community to family and friends.

After having removed my father from an assisted living that had just the bare necessities. It was such a relief to know that places like this exist who actually care about the person. Every part of the person. Instead of feeling like a patient he is treated like a man. So great to know this. I can now sleep at night knowing that he is well fed and cared for.

My dad is doing great here and gets to enjoy his time with his cat. This is the main reason we chose this community. We are content with the care that is provide by the nice staff. My dad's room is always very clean, I believe I don't even smell the cat litter!

This community is pretty clean all around and the staff do a good job caring for my grandmother and her needs. She is still transitioning into her new community so she has not joined activities. The food is good for her she has not complained. I would recommend this community to family and friends.

I took a tour of this community and I liked that it is noticeably clean. I liked the scenery which was very nice and well maintained. Everything was nice, the building and the rooms. The staff answered all my questions and I was also offered cookies, water and tea. I did see residents in the foyer and they seemed okay.

When passing out meals when they start on a table make sure everyone at that table is served before they go on to another table. Also have someone doing coffee, especially at breakfast. Lots of times you just get one cup and no refills. At this same time they can ask if you want any thing else. Save money by not printing the menu as it is never followed. For those who don't get their meds from the nurse, we don't see the board telling us of the day's activities, so it needs to be displayed some other place also. I find if you don't like something, tell the manager nicely and it can be resolved. We are here because we all have problems, and they are very helpful about them. All in all this is the place to chose for your loved ones.

After touring many homes, we were very excited to see the Bickford. Affordable and homey! All the folks there are very nice. They allow pets. The food is very good.

Very friendly, enthusiastic and supportive from our very first meeting. These ratings are based only on 2 weeks since we moved Mom into Bickford.

Overall our experience with Bickford of Carmel has been a very good one, I'd give them high marks across the board! The staff here is friendly, professional, and every one of them has some training in dealing with memory/Alzheimer's care. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and they've got all sorts of activities for the residents. It's a very nice place.

My mother has been at Sunrise for a month or so. The staff there is lovely and she is reasonably happy.

Personally, I like the care my father is receiving. He is very well taken care of. The staff at Sunrise has made Dad's transition as pleasant as possible for my Dad.

Bickford is a very nice place and the staff here is wonderful. They are great with communication. The facility is always clean and seem to be well organized. They have come through for us when we needed something.
