Bickford Senior Living

Our family has been able to visit and I think they liked it a lot. Our loved one had a chance to try a couple of meals while visiting and seemed to like them really well. It seems like a clean place with a friendly staff.

My mother is loving living at this fun filled place. We haven't seen her this happy in years. Wonderful caring staff, clean building, great food and very well priced. Staff treats my mothers family like their family! I love that!

Our experience at Sunrise of Rocky River has been exceptional! From our very first "search" for a place for mom, although we choose another assisted living, David was occasionally in touch with us to make sure everything was going well. When we had a need for a different AL we contacted him immediately. From that moment he coordinated everything seamlessly including mom's transfer from a rehab center to AL to their Reminiscent Center. The staff are absolutely fantastic without an exception. The facility is flawlessly clean and inviting. The care has been phenomenal. We are SO pleased with our decision, and only wish that Sunrise had been our first choice early on.

Concerned about travel time back and forth with all the major construction which will be taking place over several years.

Bickford does an outstanding job in hiring staff that is friendly, caring, and professional. Moving my mom to assisted care was never in the plan. When her memory decline accelerated to the point of needing help available around the clock, home care provisions were no longer sufficient. Bickford staff was thoughtful and kind from the beginning. The atmosphere, amenities, staff, and building configuration were 2nd best to mom's home setting and first in care and comfort. I no longer worry about mom's physical needs. Certainly mom misses her home. Mom does not miss being scared because she knows there is someone kind and friendly to help anytime day or night. Staff makes sure she drinks her coffee the special way that she likes it. The setting is lovely inside and out. The bistro area always has tasty snacks, refreshments, and special treats are prepared while she watches with other residents...today homemade ice cream. Oh, residents play euchre until wee hours of the morning if they wish. Scenic rides on a bus designed for seniors along with a variety of outings help make Bickford a place called home.

Nice place with very professional and caring staff. Food is good and personnel to resident ratio seems excellent . Really liked the man in charge.

They were very attentive, warm, and welcoming at her entrance. The food was excellent. There is minimal parking, but I was always able to find a place to park. It was very important to us to have an outside area and there was one here.

I can't wait for this location to open. If they were open right now we would be there. They are well put together. They really have a good idea of what to do with Alzheimers and dementia patients. The other Bickford communities are amazing. Just a fantastic place! I can't wait.

It's a newer facility and it's kept very clean. The staff is friendly, and they do offer a good variety of activities. Their pricing was in line with everywhere else. There isn't anything I can think of that needs to be improved or done better. We liked that it was privately owned, not owned by a corporation.

It’s been a very good experience for them. The staff has been very helpful and supportive. I had a chance to try the food and it is very fine. I think they offer a wide variety of care services. The head nurse is very helpful , arranging tests and doctor’s services.

They are a good community and we are pretty happy with them. They are all very expensive and this is about the same. The food is pretty good, but the laundry has come up missing a few times. All in all, other than the laundry, we don't really have any complaints.

It was lovely, I really liked it. The view was beautiful. You can sit in the dining room and look across the river. It was a little more expensive, and a little too far for us.

Overall, everything is just great! My loved one seems to be adjusting very well. We didn't look around very much, but we didn't have to! Everything is kept very clean, and the staff is all very nice and helpful. I've felt that I've needed to initiate the communication between myself and the staff, but overall, things are going very well. I just feel that all of the stress has been lifted, and I feel so much better knowing my loved one is there and taken care of!

I found out about Bickford House in Bourbonnais, IL through A Place 4 Mom. Initially, one thing that attracted me to it, was that they are one of only two assisted living facilities in our area that take people with Alzheimer's, which my Mom has. My parents have lived there for almost 2 weeks now, and they love it. They have a beautiful apartment, completely filled with furniture, pictures, knick knacks, etc., from their house, because the apartments come unfurnished. The meals, the activities, everything about Bickford, especially the staff, are wonderful. My parents have already made friends with several other residents, and are starting to really feel at home.

She wishes there was not a cat, she doesn't like the smell of the cat box, and it is in one of the t.v. rooms. It takes a while to get medication, they order from Omnicare it can take a while. Sometimes there is a delay. It would have been nice to know that I would need to get some prescriptions filled for the meantime. The food is pretty good. I think the staff is incredibly kind and friendly and they make you feel like an individual person. They seem to be friends with the residents.

The staff here are compassionate, friendly, patient, and they really seem to care about the residents. They really go above and beyond, and everyone I talked to seemed to really love their jobs. We came to them in a time of crisis, and they were able to help us on very short notice (on Christmas Eve, no less!). The facility itself is very nice, and the food is delicious! There's a lot of variety in what they serve, and they serve plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

I am impressed with the emphasis on the individual's happiness. Ultimately, it may be the most PERSONAL of all. I like what they do in Memory Care. Assisted Living looks good. And I like their having daycare, as well.

They do a great job here! It's a very nice looking community, the staff are all very friendly, and the care and activities they provide are great. The staff are very personable, they know every resident individually, and they can pick up on any changes in mood or behavior. They're also very good about staying in touch with families to keep them updated on how their loved ones are doing.

They are really nice but the price is a lot. It's newer, and seemed to be a little more airy. They were really nice people and were more cheerful than most of the places were. They had a unit of care system so there was an extra charge for each level of care. They had a little bigger rooms and some had a built in cabinet so not just the standard room.

This is not the first time I have had to place someone in nursing care. I really like Sunrise because of the bright cheery place that it is. It's not an instuitional nursing home. Plus the dog and cat on site really make it more like home.
