The facility was well-maintained and clean. The staff persons were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice.

I think we would overall give it four stars. The cleanliness was kind of bad but the day staff were good. One of the night staff was mean and smashed his head into the bed rail bruising his face. He was afraid of her. The food was great. Activities were great. They ultimately kicked him out because he could no longer assist in his own care.

The staff is very kind and welcoming, which I truly appreciate. However, I’m not a fan of how the meals are currently served. I wish the dining room had more flexible hours, as the set times (8, 12, and 5) can be difficult to work with—especially for breakfast. I also prefer not to have buffet-style meals and would rather see assigned seating for a more organized experience. Additionally, service can sometimes be a bit slow. Overall, the staff is great, but there are a few areas in the dining experience that could be improved.

Most of the staff are caring and supportive a few show that they hate their job. Rocky start but has improved must give it time for love one to settle in.

My mom felt comfortable and safe in the space. We had a meal and got to meet a few of the residents, which was nice to converse eight with them and here of their experience and the opportunities that are offered.

We enjoyed the tour. We’re just starting our search for retirement living and it will be a process because we have a lot to downsize. You are definitely going to be on our list of prospects. Thanks again for your help and we will be in touch Penny Fuelling

Overall good feeling about the place. Not sure if this is the place or not. Such a tough decision.

Grand Meadows was very nice. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We were late for our tour appointment and were helped by someone other than the person who was supposed to give the tour. She didn’t have answers to all of our questions but was still very pleasant and helpful. Biggest complaint would be the fact that we are looking for assisted living for both parents and the rooms seemed too small for two people and didn’t have a separate bedroom.

I really wanted to like Thomas Grove Assisted Living and Memory Care since it’s so close to my home, but unfortunately it gave me more of a nursing home feel than an assisted living community. One of the one-bedroom units had no doors, which was a big concern for privacy. I was also uncomfortable with how medications were handled—the medicine rack was right at the entrance, with residents lined up waiting for meds, instead of being in a private room or delivered directly. I didn’t like that the doors are locked and residents have to be let in and out. While I understand this was due to a past security issue with codes being shared, I would have preferred new codes be issued rather than restricting access for everyone. On the positive side, I did like the menu options, having PT/OT on site, and the convenience of parking under the building.

The food services seem to be an ongoing issue. Sometimes the food is "interesting" in flavor. I know it's hard to order and cook for a variety of tastes. We are almost always short staffed in either servers or cooks. Many of our servers aren't trained and then get frustrated by trying to serve, buss and clean too many tables/patrons. And condiment items have to asked for and normally your food is cold by the time you receive the item. Example: butter with a baked potato or shrimp sauce with your shrimp.

We need more attention in the food offered Many people are on restricted diets and have a difficult time eating healthy foods. Also transportation to doctors

What we like the most about the community is - 1. Food 2. The 'need help' button she wears around her neck. 3. Decorations during holidays to make it feel like home. Yes, I would recommend this community to others, it is a nice place... there were a few aspects that were 'hidden from us' or, misrepresented. So going in, we had a few false expectations. I still think it's a nice place... just ask a lot of questions and check-in frequently.

I met with the sales manager and discussed the needs of my relative both physical and financial. We then took a tour of the facility together. I left feeling hopeful and pleased but found the next day that there had been a misunderstanding regarding the option of Medicaid eligibility if needed in the future.

Comfortable Food used to be great! Have cut back. Not happy. Cooperative happy staff. Expensive. Not looking forward to new rates for new year. Overall happy with the place. Five star residence Fort Wayne.

The staff is wonderful. There are a lot of activities including crafts, bingo, lots of board games. The food is o.k. They are adding more items to the menu.

I love that I decided to stay here. This is a very nice place to live. I enjoy the activities and the food is great. The staff here are very polite and friendly. I would recommend to anyone to stay here.

Working with The Lumiere was great. Everyone is very friendly. My Mother thinks the food is great. Here is my opinion on a few things (and these are in comparison to other communities we visited). . . The perfect sized apartment for her wasn't available, so we had to go with a larger one because the smaller one was going to be pretty small. So, for the money she is paying a month I feel she should receive 3 meals a day (Lumiere only provides 2). They should offer valet trash service rather than having senior citizens tote their own trash down the hall to the garbage room. They should provide cleaning services every other week, rather than once a month. Their parking situation isn't great for seniors. They only have parking around the periphery of the building, and no covers parking at all. The Lumiere was really the only west-county community that offered both independent and assisted living options with availability at the time (that didn't require a buy in). With that said, it's a beautiful property and apparently the food is pretty good. She hasn't been there long enough to be familiar with many of the activities offered.

I would recommend the villages they have taken very good care of my dad. The food is good and they are very responsive. My father in law is very happy with his apartment. It has a living room, bedroom and a large bathroom. He said the staff is very friendly and attentive. I would say he would give them a 5. There are a lot of activities. They had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for family and residents. They have entertainment a couple of times a week and multiple activities and a couple of outings a month.

Staff (aides and nurses) are mostly very friendly and helpful. They have a lot to do but always respond in a timely manner, with a smile. You don't feel like you're "bothering " them My main complaint would be the quality of the food. Not the service or the cleanliness. The food itself is generally not that appetizing, though presented well.
