DO NOT MOVE HERE! My mother was a resident and passed away on [date removed]. We were told that she was gone for at least 24 hours when she was found by my brother. No one from Sycamore Creek had checked on her, even though they are supposed to hear from each resident every morning and check on them if they don't. My brother rented a truck to move my mom's things from her apartment today ([date removed]). The locks had been changed and we cannot get into my mother's apartment. I called the office and was told that there is nothing that they can do about the situation. These are the most uncaring people that I have ever met. Do yourself a favor and do not move here or let anyone that you care about move here!

Be informed business first care second , bad experience with this facility. State has open case on my complaint.

Very pretty, very pricy, and very lax with Memory Care Patients. Staff allows some patients to wander into other patients' rooms, and admits they cannot prevent access.

We have struggled to get the care my Dad needed here. It really wasn’t a difficult case, but lack of leadership, compassion and professionalism have caused stress and tension. We have attempted to address our problems with staff, but get the run around. No one calls back and no one emails back. My sibling finally resorted to threatening legal action in an attempt to get what we were paying exorbitant rent for. It’s beyond unacceptable.

Not even one star rating. My mother was in memory care for 10 days before I “saved” her. She had been completely neglected the entire time. The staff was very unfriendly to my mom and me. They acted as if they could care less. DO NOT put your loved one at Carmel Senior Living. I reported them to the state!

During the time that my loved one was here it has been a very horrible experience. They have told me that they couldn’t handle her and within a couple of weeks they said that she would have to leave. The staff had her by herself all the time, she sat at meals by herself all the time, and also just alone in her room. They didn’t engage with her at all and they didn’t do anything with her. In the beginning we saw how beautiful the facility is, the room are gorgeous, and the food is nice. During the paper signing the Sales team promised me all different things like we’ll help her to activities, we’ll interact with her, and we’ll assist her with everything, but they did not. I would call to say include her in activities like Bingo but they would not take her. I would also call to make appointment for her hair but they would forget. All in all, it has just been a horrible experience with them. I am glad she’s in somewhere now where she is getting the care that she needs.

STAY AWAY THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS. We paid a $2,500 deposit for my mother to move into independence village, then we paid $2,365 for the first month's rent. Three days after she moved in, my mother became gravely ill and ended up going into hospice care, which we could not do at independence village. [Name removed], the manager of Independence Village of Plymouth told us that if we moved out all of our mom's stuff we would be refunded a pro-rated amount of rent and most of our deposit. So my brother and I moved out all of my mom's stuff and returned the keys to the front desk. Oddly, during the hours we spend moving our mom's stuff out [name removed] never seemed to be in her office (in retrospect, I'm pretty sure she was hiding from us). Then [name removed] never called and when I left messages for her and [name removed], no one ever called me back. I finally had to begin calling every hour on the hour to get someone from independence village's management to actually speak to me (the front desk just kept directing me to leave voicemails). Turns out: THEY REFUNEDED NOTHING AND KEPT ALL OF THE $4,865 OF MY MOTHER'S MONEY SO THAT SHE COULD STAY THERE FOR THREE DAYS. This place is a scam. They scam vulnerable seniors out of their money. They are also liars. They told us to move her things out immediately to get a refund so that they could re rent her room and then refunded nothing. Additionally, Independence Village of Plymouth is NOT an accredited assisted living facility in Michigan. Something they somehow fail to mention on the website and they fail to tell you when you move in. STAY AWAY THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS.

Lack of training throughout the building, zero compassion, lack of common sense, very sad.dont waste your money.

My mother was there for about a year and a half. A few months after she moved in, the GM of the property left. We already had some complaints but were assured it would get better. It never did. The food was a joke. The servers were consistently overworked, late or no shows, and not polite. There were multiple times that non food service personnel HAD to work the kitchen and serve due to lack of staff. There were MEMORY CARE NURSES who abandoned their area to help work the kitchen. They were out of basics like coffee, eggs, and milk consistently. The bistro was supposed to be stocked with snacks and salads. It was almost always empty. It got so bad I stopped paying the monthly bills. It took them FOUR MONTHS to even contact me to ask why. I told them it was because they weren't addressing my mothers issues and they wouldn't return my numerous calls. Finally, partly due to stress from the living conditions, us being fed up with all of the broken promises, and her disease progressing, we had to move my mother into a full care facility. We told them we were looking and would be moving ASAP. However, when we were able to locate a place and move, we did so within a week, and therefore did not give them an official 30 days notice. They charged me for three weeks of a new month, knowing my mother left for health reasons and not to a competitor. I think that this is totally uncalled for, especially given the issues we had throughout. The people they have on staff will lie to your face all day long but nothing ever changes. They are constantly being asked to work other areas of the facility other than their position. There were 3 different GM's of the property in the year and a half. That should tell you it is a system they have: Make promises. Keep doing the same thing. Promise it will get better. Change staff. Repeat. Do not let a loved one move here.

The Knoxville marketer is very inappropriate! I would never send another family member to Manor House because of her and her behavior in the community. She is a terrible representative of this business.

I would not recommend this community to anyone. The young lady who tried to do our tour was not prepared, nor did she do a very good job showing us around and I felt she gave us too much information about the people living in the two apts we were about to tour. My daughter came with me and we could not wait to get out of there. As for the two apt's that we were shown one was occupied so it felt strange looking around a someone else's home and the second apt the tenant had just passed away and again we walking around their stuff.

Very disappointed, they don’t live up to expectations. Empty promises to the residents. Food is horrible, doesn’t change no matter how much you ask. Do not live up to promises with activities. I was a nurse’s aide and appreciated them not like here. Laundry and housekeeping and maintenance are great other residents are friends.

My Aunt's move here has been very unsettling for her and as they did not address any of the issues such as cleaning her apt and repainting before she moved in. My Aunt has talked with the management and they are slowly taking care of some of her concerns but at this point, she is making plans to move. The food is terrible and she has no desire to be part of the activities. The staff, on the other hand, have been very helpful and friendly. My Aunt is just very disappointed with everything that has taken place here.

Not at all pleased. Was lied to about costs. Only had 1 aide per 12-14 patients. It was clean and open -- felt great when we first toured -- not after Mom was there.

The staff is very nice for the most part. I can't say much for the medical care, they were not even capable of caring for a small area where skin cancer was removed. [Removed]. All her nice wool clothes were washed and dried which ruined everything. We were lied to repeatedly about the bill and the rates were raised without notice. Once she was moved my phone calls about her possessions are not being returned. Look somewhere else if you want your loved one cared for.

I wish I never went to this community. In short time my loved one had fell and I was not notified of the injury. I had to make arrangements to get medical help. They are very understaffed.

I lived in this community for two years. During this time I complained about the food and the cleanliness but nothing happened. We had not much fresh food and very little real cooked food.by that I mean prepared. I was asked to leave because I complained. Since then I have moved into oakwood senior living. The food here is like night and day. It is cooked fresh daily and the presentation is beautiful. The building is much cleaner. In my opinion the most important thing in assistant living is the food and Manor House was terrible. I believe that all they care about is the bottom line, not the residents.

They where always short staffed, we had to call every day to make sure, medications where given. We pulled our family member out after 2 weeks. They never showered her even though we where paying the highest tier in care, also when we moved in it took a few days for them to get her hot water working. No one ever knew what was going on and there was no leadership. Terrible Horrible experience!

We placed my father in this facility after having two evaluations. My mom was very clear and honest with his struggles and advanced stage of his disease. They accepted him and within a few days of paying started making calls to us with complaints of things all Alzheimer patients struggle with. They kept saying they needed to educate their staff better? It's very apparent that the new director is inexperienced and was just looking to fill a bed. Even though they advertise as a Special Care, Alzheimer care facility, make sure your loved one is in the beginning stages and can still care for themselves if you want to put them in this facility. The place is very nicely designed and the staff is very nice, but they are clearly inexperienced and understaffed in caring for most Alzheimer patients. This was one of the most stressful experiences we had to deal with. We moved him to [different community] His care has been fabulous with no complaints. He goes to the bathroom and we have not had any of the aggression complaints. He's happy and doing well. Since moving my dad, we have heard from multiple people that their loved ones were kicked out of Glen Oaks after a short time too. Save yourself the stress and money and go some place else.
