StoryPoint...almost dreamlike in name and appearance. However, dreams can quickly turn to nightmares and there is usually a moral to a story. To brag about meeting and exceeding the needs of those who deserve it most, the residents, is disheartening, for they fall far short. I could write pages more, but will simply end by saying, stories have many versions, make sure you read all of the fine print and footnotes before deciding fiction or fairytale. Final thought... StoryPoint, where everyone has a Story, but most don’t get the Point.

My mother, suffering from Parkinson’s with Dementia, resided at Wright House Memory Care, also known as Ionicare of Mequon LLC, for 13 months until her death in [removed]. After a fall out of bed, she sustained a subdural hematoma and fractured arm, resulting in her death. During her time at the Wright House, she had numerous falls from bed. They failed to implement an appropriate fall management and prevention program, which, with proper execution may have prevented her death. The state visited Wright House in July to interview personnel and collect data in accordance with the grievances filed in June. However, those reporting the initial violations did not verify statements and information provided by the facility. Misrepresentations found in those documents are consistent with others evident in the deceased’ records obtained from Wright House. In October 2017, the WI Department of Health Services - Division of Quality Assurance issued a Notice of Violation, an Order to Submit a Plan of Correction, a Notice of Special Orders, and a Notice of Imposed Forfeiture to Ionicare of Mequon LLC, doing business as Wright House Memory Care, a Community Based Residential Facility. This notice and order addresses concerns, issues and wrongdoing at the facility.

While some StoryPoint locations are 4-Star, the Portage location is struggling. As residents, our complaints are ignored, overlooked and/or brushed aside. The turnover of employees here is astounding . Don’t corporations realize that if you simply paid your employees a little more per hour, you’d have happy people who stay? Story Point has a whole gimmick called 1440 that maintains that every minute here is a great minute. Not so. Things we were promised before signing the lease never happened. The food is hit or miss. Supper takes an hour and a half because they hire high schoolers who aren’t properly trained to serve. The store there that should stock essentials is almost always empty. Activities are an unorganized mess. Movies rarely work and events are cancelled or no-shows quite often. Care givers are tired, burnt out and just angry. Parking is difficult with a lack of car ports. Maintenance work orders take far too long to complete. Doors do not open properly with the key fobs we are given, and some side entrance doors STILL do not work. The management team takes a “ not my problem” attitude. It’s a shame because it’s a nice building. ( albeit cheaply made).

Very disappointed, they don't live up to expectations. Empty promises, food is horrible and doesn't change no matter how much you ask. Do not live up to promises with activities. I was a nurse aide and I appreciated them not like here. Laundry housekeeping and maintenance are great. Other residents are friends.

Next to a Mexican [Removed] one of the worst places on Earth,Staff don't care it is all about having your rent on time.Food God Awful,rooms rarely cleaned and if they are done just light dusting.People left sitting at doctor appointments Hours after there threw.Money is some how taken from accounts by charging for services they really do not provide.Could go on but why if you are sending a family member there well you really don't care about them anyways so is the truth going to change your mind.

Very disappointing level of care. RA’s are untrained, no experience, no health orientation – scary. Concerns brought to management are deferred to unresponsive Brighton office. No hope.

Very nice facility, but very DISHONEST administration. They outright lied to us when we had our parents stay at there on a trial basis with their 60 day money back guarantee. PSL will not give our elderly parents back their money now since apparently they didn't express their displeasure during there stay. AVOID Powell Senior Living unless you have thousands of dollars you don't need in retirement.

Within the first couple minutes of being in this community during my tour, I knew that my mother in law would not be living here. Once we entered the memory care floor, the overwhelming odor of urine assailed our senses. Additionally, I noticed that as soon as we waIked down the hall, that several caregivers suddenly got out of the chairs, put their phones away and tried to look busy. The most disturbing thing to me though was when I turned down the hall by the nurses station, I saw 10 or so Alzheimer's/Dementia patients stacked up against the wall in uncomfortable looking chairs or wheel chairs waiting for an overworked aid to exercise them. It was the worst tour of the day. When we left, we just looked at each other and said "h&11 no'!

Level on care went from “5 star” to zero with decisions to eliminate knowledgeable care givers. It was obvious that in spring of 2016 a terrible experiment started and all the dedicated, long term, more expensive employees were canned and now minimum wage replacements cannot begin to support these folks much unnecessary suffering prevails at the Petoskey Independence Village.

It is scary to be old and not have anyone around that, cares about my health, pain, or any medical questions. We used to have an RN and Physician’s Assistant and all the aids were CNA’s. They were replaced with people who do not know or care about my miseries. Bad decision.

The facility in White Lake is not equipped to handle dementia patients. The assistants are not trained to handle the different stages. Found mom in need of changing, found it hard to believe they could smell it! Everyone scattered when something was said. Left for family to handle. The manager of the facility is only concerned with collecting money and charging extra for every little thing. Don't be mislead the price is not the price with all the extra charges. You will pay more for laundry and housekeeping. The activities are limited, the food is terrible, clothes are damaged or lost in laundry, cleaning is terrible, carpets are filthy! Do not sign the dotted line. Your loved one deserves better!

Your residents are suffering. Why don’t you have a health care provider like it says in your ads? Your residents suffer! I would never recommend.

This place is hotel hell. It is older than its residents. Wood siding is falling off outside. My mother was treated horribly. I was told when I wrote a $7000.00 check she would be looked after by the "managers". She was not. The manager do nothing. My mother on many occasions walked around the dinning room asking to sit at a table and was denied by the [Removed] that lives there. I was lies to by the sales person and it is a rip off from day one.

New building but severely unprepared to provide quality care. The understaffed caretakers are poorly trained and have little personalized interaction with the residents. Caretakers expected to do housekeeping, maintenance and activities. Management staff availability is limited and often unresponsive.

The social worker had a very unpleasant attitude. She proceeded to belittle nursing homes that accepted title 19 assistance telling me that their facilities were usually very inferior to those that strictly private. This turned me off in a big way.

For the sake of your loved ones do your due diligence and compare with other facilities. State Licensing means something - it means there is an oversight body, not a corporation worried just about the financials. The Assisted side, called the Harbors is an UNLICENSED facility. By the time you pay the rent / food and the the health care bill, you'll be at $6,000+. Staffing levels - resident to resident aid are high (aids cover entire building not just assisted side). Pull cord response time can be high especially after hours, resident aid turnover and absenteeism is high. If you need and aide and can't find one, go look out by the dumpster and most likely you'll find one or two there smoking. Go look at the butts on the ground. STAY CLEAR.

WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING. The Assisted Living side is called The Harbors. It is UNLICENSED which means they can do what they want. Staffing level is understaffed, high turnover, absenteeism is common - so the Resident Assistants are running - literally. The Independent Living side includes a continental breakfast - very common to be out of items - ie. bananas - yet no one runs out to Kroger's to get more - just say yep we are out. Check around on pricing - my opinion is you can get better for less elsewhere. Maintenance position turns over frequent also.

I cannot rate them on friendliness because they are neither friendly nor mean They just don't talk or look at you. This includes the managers. They say there are activities but they have bingo with 2 cards and that is not fun!! The food is not good. It is tasteless and unfulfilling.I am thinking about moving!! These golden years should be "GOLDEN"!!

The price goes up every year but the services go down. The most recent is you have to reserve a place on their bus a full day ahead of time. You can't cancel or you can't decide to go someplace even though the bus is not full and is available.
