SP is way out of their league in assisted living. They may be good for independent living but I would not, under any circumstances, recommend a loved one go there for assisted living. Under trained, under staffed, no shift communication, no follow through on assistance. They will charge for service and then not provide the care. They don't even pay attention to basic dietary needs and restrictions. They will tell you everything you want to hear, then do nothing to follow up.

There is not nurse at the facility 24/7. The residence who live there say with the quality of food is poor. If your loved one is not 100% able to care for themselves, you will need to be available at all times as if you were caring for them outside of the facility. The facility will recommend using My Mobile MD as the primary care physician. However, after experiencing medication management, lab work follow up, and other orders, I would not recommend this option

We actually ended up leaving and moving my parents to another facility. We were not at all happy with their time there. We were being charged for things we weren't supposed to. It was not a good experience. Some staff were friendly, but the were ALWAYS short staffed and management was not helpful. Also- we found out a month after leaving that the director stole money from residents. We were happy we made the decision to relocate every though it was a hassle

This community is not ran like any other story point community. All it takes is a simple search on social media to see the stark difference. Activities for the residence are budgeted extremely low compared to other locations. It’s very sad. The daily activities cost the community maybe $[removed] when other communities nearby under the same company, throw extravagant themed activities weekly, if not daily. There are no memory care specific activities, residents are escorted down to AL if they are willing to follow to that part of the building. Otherwise they get very little social interaction within the memory care unit. This community seems to have no money to spend on anything. Leadership has been CONSTANT rotation. Nearly 6 or 7 directors in a 2 year period. No one stays. A loved one does not ever leave MC so she has no social interactions. Please do your research and choose a different community for your loved one.

Transition from private to corporate ownership has not been smooth. We have had a large staff turnover leaving residents confused and without some services. Call buttons are not being answered timely, showers not being given, trash & apartment cleaning not being done. Food service continues to be the most egregious issue with proteins overcooked to the point that they are so dry it is difficult to cut and chew them, vegetables cooked to mush consistency, grilled cheese, hot dogs and eggs & pancakes served burnt, hot food & soups served barely warm on a consistent basis. The food is inedible! I have lost weight because I can't eat the food.

I just spent seven months trying to get a refund due my father after we moved him to a different assisted living facility. I feel the staff is inadequately trained and the employees in administration are not detail oriented. I would not recommend StoryPoint to anyone.

There is nothing I like. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. What they could specifically improve on would be, communication to family, safety, general care and compassion, professionalism

They can improve by, having enough staff to not let people sit in pissy and poopy diapers. Just understaffed to properly care for people especially for the cost of the place

Memory care needs more staffing. They don't have enough staff to bath and feed the residents. Plus, try he stench in Memory Care is horrific. I'm moving mom in a week or two.

-1. I would never send anyone there. They have no structure for anyone needing 24 hour help/any help. We were always up front and honest what he needed. I have not received a bill. They took money from our account. It's crazy

We were not happy. Also, don't put them in rooms where the ceiling literally leaks onto their residents.

We did NOT expect to be forced to move after a year due to exorbitant rate increases I would just really caution people not to fall for initially low rates. Mom often received the wrong to-go meal or shockingly little in leftovers after waiting sometimes for almost an hour. They really worked with mom's budget initially, only to move her to a smaller room and jack up her rent 33% after a single year. We would not have moved there if we had known that. Felt like bait and switch. We had to move mom into a regular apartment building, which meant re-equipping her with cookware, etc, that she didn't need at Creekside, and retrofitting a bathroom to make it more accessible for her.

I give it a 1. The meals were not that good. The gentleman that served lunch kept forgetting my husband was there. He never had a placemat nor silverware. I always had to get it and we sat in the same seats all the time. In fact one day he forgot to give him lunch. None of the staff introduced themselves. I requested that he be taken to the bathroom every two hours at night. Never happened. He went through several pairs of shorts and bedding every night. We requested therapy, they called us the last day he was there..he was there only 11 days. I tried to call the first night he was there because he didn't seem right when I left him. Left a message around 4:00 pm. Never got a call back. I had to go there like a maniac to check on him. Nobody ever got him up just to walk around the room so he was getting weaker and weaker. They made him sit in the lunchroom in his wheelchair for 5 hours because they said he was a fall risk. The whole experience just was not good. He has been home and is doing wonderful. He is walking with a walker and sometimes a cane. Still uses his wheelchair to move around also. Has been getting out of bed by himself and getting cleaned up and dressed. So taking him out of there was the best thing I could have done for his well being.

The structure and décor is amazing, but the management and (most of) the staff proved to be either lazy or incompetent. My mothers doctor's orders were ignored over and over, she was left with no guidance to and from meals even though she was paying for the enhanced care package.($800 per month extra). She was not given her thyroid medication for a month and a half due to a "med error", and when she ended up with a huge black eye, I wasn't even called about it. I just found her with it and no idea what happened. (She has moderate Alzheimer's so cannot remember). Ultimately, her quick physical and mental decline, with unknown cause, was not communicated to me at all so that when I did call an ambulance, she'd been suffering for almost a week. She was hospitalized, received skilled nursing, and now lives at [removed name]. I do not recommend quartet. It looks amazing, but you will not receive the care you need (and pay for).

They should be closed down. Fire the staff, they are a bunch of thieves and liars. I took her insulin the day I moved her in. Gave it to the nurse. 2 months later I get a call my mother fell. I go to the nursing home to check on her. She has a bloody elbow. I asked if they would tend to it and was told "we don't do wound care." I asked what her blood sugar was and was told "we don't check unless they are diabetic." I told them she was. They FINALLY checked and it was over 1100. When I collected her things, the nurse I gave her insulin to told me "I guess I dropped the ball."

The care of dementia patient was terrible. They were not feeding my father. We're not bathing him, helping brush teeth, grooming etc. we're not cleaning his room/doing laundry. The last several months he was there there was no nursing oversight whatsoever. They did not have anyone supervising their aides. The director [name removed] would not respond to messages/calls/and tried to delay me moving my dad to another facility. When I was in process of moving him out...many things were stolen from his room-including a giant curio cabinet. We were overcharged by $[removed]and it took 6 months and the threat an attorney to get reimbursed.

Independence Villages announced closing their Long-term Care wing which has been home to my loved one for the 7 years, as well as both my parents. We were invested in this community and the staff. The care team became like family to us. Unfortunately, the management company was not considerate in how they handled the details of this transition, including swooping in with a construction company with equipment and tearing up the concrete parking lot that created deafening noise and inconsiderate obstacles for families trying to move our loved ones. They could’ve waited a few days to avoid this added salt in an already open wound. I would NOT recommend this company for your loved ones! They ultimately don’t care about you.

My husband was in memory care and did not receive very good care. He was there for 11 days and I took him out. I was told I would get back the community fee of $[removed] and received less than half. They came up with all these extra charges. They had my $[removed] for an 11 day stay. Totally ridiculous. I have people looking into the matter. I think I deserve the community fee back in total. We'll see what happens. But I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

My mother had to be hospitalized due to rapid onset of Alzheimer's. After an exhaustive search we landed on Storypoint for the amenities and the "Care" staff stated they could give to my mother after they came to the hospital and conducted an assessment. They promised us they could care for my mother in her rapidly deteriorating condition. Upon moving my mother in, there was no warm welcome, no greeting from staff, they just plopped her in the dining room and walked away. I remember leaving, wondering if we made the right choice. 36 hours later they called and said that my mother could no longer stay in the facility and placed her back in the hospital. They then told us we would have to hire a worker to sit with her for 24 hours a day at over $[fee removed] an hour, on top of the rate we were paying for her stay, as they could not care for her (even though assessment said they could). We found a new facility, but they refused to reimburse any of $[fee removed] we paid. DO NOT CHOOSE STORYPOINT!

We had a disappointing experience, staff were not attentive, it was hard to get a problem resolved, such as losing hearing aids. They did not follow up with family in care conferences, we had 1 from March to July. Biggest concern was billing, over charging for classifying him at level 4 for nursing care, and the nursing staff was providing level 3 care, which I believe is fraud.
