My family and loved one had an okay experience. The community made promises to us, and they didn't keep them. This was very disappointing to us. Everyone was friendly. The meals were good. Overall, we would recommend you ask lots of questions and follow up with them to make sure the promises are fulfilled.

Independence Village is very nice with beautiful apartments and grounds, but get everything in writing before you sign anything. We were told when we first visited that they estimated my loved ones care would be less and when we went to sign up for it, it was way more. We were able to come to a compromise with my loved ones care, but it still cost more than double what we were verbally told it would.

In general, great place with friendly, helpful people. We especially appreciated the wonderful dining options and modern, clean feel. However, very inadequate initial assessment of my mother-in-law's needs and care plan creation. We were promised she would "never have to move again" after moving there, but were told after 2 weeks that they could not support end-of-life care of the sort she needed. (We could have brought in hospice, but she needed 24-7 constant supervision and was losing ability to feed herself due to gross motor issues.) We had to move her after only 6 weeks there, which was very disappointing. Overall, very difficult situation and IV did their best, but I don't feel like I could enthusiastically recommend for someone who needs significant support. Maybe better for independent living.

Since we have never lived in Independent Living we have nothing to compare to!

There is no leadership or training for the care staff. This is not the fault of the care staff. My sister and I train caregiver after caregiver. They leave because they are not trained and then blamed for resident complaints about care. The food is awful. You can hear the residents complain about the meals everyday. Ask to see menus from the past months, not examples of what might be on the menu. Inquire about caregiver turnover and training. Does the facility use agency services to fill gaps in caregiver schedules, if not, ask why? Inquire about exact destinations for transportation services. For example, if they have in-house beauty services will they still transport a resident to their legacy beauty stylist?

The most remarkable thing was how unfriendly the residents were - no one said hi to the staff people escorting us much less to us directly. Not welcoming at all.

Staff is kind, environment is bright and cheerful, but be prepared to keep an eye on all details. The handoff from the selling portion to the actual care is bumpy. Be prepared to advocate for your loved one... we have had several issues with incorrect general billing (significantly overcharged) medications, incorrect pharmacy billing (they did not submit my father's medication through insurance) and he also has difficulties getting his meals puréed. The nurses are extremely short staffed so level of service changes often. It sounds like they are between Executive Directors and I hope things improve.

[name removed] the sales rep will tell you anything to get you to sign on bottom line. Once that's done she forgets about you. We had to hound her to fulfill her promises. She bragged about chefs and food quality and variety but the variety as mentioned isn't there. Lately serving more sandwiches. Nursing staff not always on the ball. My loved one manages and takes own medication, but nurses are always coming in to give my loved one meds. Seems like they don't keep any records on residents and what care they are providing. Aides are pretty lazy too. Based on what my loved one could afford, it is a decent value.

Staff is nice, you really need to communicate specific needs well. Get a copy make sure everyone is on the same page. They are there to help, just make sure to follow up on specific needs to make sure they are being met. Most residents get around pretty well and can enjoy Danbury and all it has to offer.

The nursing staff is horrible. We have had issues with medication management and the communication with the nursing staff. In fact the family is taking the medication management back over. There is no systems in place for follow up, and there have been times my loved one has run out of medication and the staff haven't called the family to notify us. There are times the staff haven't responded in the promised average time of 7 minutes to the call button when our loved one has pushed the call button. The residents don't have options to choose from for meals. There is always an alternate meal available if the resident doesn't care for the special that is being served. There are meals times for the residents to dine. There has been a high turnover of staff here.

This facility is beautiful and clean. It's a wonderful place, I would choose it for myself. Every time we visited, everyone was friendly. Especially the people at the front desk. My loved one was placed in Assisted Living, but he needed to be in Memory Care. However, there was some disagreement about that within our family. Ultimately, it wasn't my decision and the facility agreed to place him in Assisted Living. Our loved one had a diagnosis of Dementia and Alzheimer's and his care assessment (a 5 hour process) specifically stated that he needed Memory Care. I feel like that should have been more seriously considered by the facility during my loved one's placement, regardless of family wishes. My loved one just needed so much more assistance than he had access to being in Assisted Living. Memory Care would have done so much more for him. But again, this facility is a great place and I would recommend it to family and friends.

Cascade Trails is a well kept very nice facility, it is newer and very well laid out. The friendliness of the staff really does vary depending on who you are working with - some are wonderful and others not so great and the management team doesn't really seem to want to address it.

My loved one did enjoy living here. His room is very nice, it is a studio and very roomy and spacious. I do think that the facility itself needs to be updated, but Other than that he loved it and had a good experience.

The biggest thing my dad talks about is the staff turnover and the food. They have small portions and the quality of food has been poor. He is reporting a new cook in the past couple of weeks and the food is getting better, but still small portions. He is a petite man and he has lost a lot of weight living there, which I am concerned about.

During our tour experience at StoryPoint Chattanooga, we noticed that all of the residents were just sitting around with no stimulation at all. It also had a lot of long and narrow hallways.

The facility is very nice and cozy.Meals are great!Activities by [name removed] and [name removed] are great. [name removed] at the front desk is friendly,some of the care helpers are fantastic & some didn't change my moms diaper/clothes while she was at the end of her life & couldn't speak for herself.The biggest problem I had is with the Executive Director.I needed papers filled out for the VA so mom could collect benefits & it took 2 months for her to fill them out.I was lied to several times stating they have been sent in to the VA, when I was in her office and saw them still on her desk.We asked for a larger room & was told we would get room #55 when available. In the meantime we purchased furniture from the prior resident.The facility gave the room to someone else. I talked to the director & asked for her superior & called her about my issues. She didn't even have the courtesy to call me back.I insisted they hold my furniture till another room was available. When it was they lost some tables.

We left because they were telling us that my loved one needed memory care and that was not the case. He was very much with it and was not even close to ready for that type of care. We looked at it and the residents there we incoherent and he would have had no one to interact with at all. I know they had lost a lot of residents due to covid.

This facility is clean, overall. It's a new building. For the cost, I expected a little bit more. The staff is ok. The food quality seems ok. I haven't tried it, so I'm not sure about the taste. My mom does mention that sometimes it tastes good and others not so good. I think salt/seasoning might have something to do with it. But I can understand why they don't use it as much, for resident health reasons. Housekeeping could improve, as far as cleanliness of her room. I visit regularly and her room isn't what I would call spotless. I'm sure some of it is due to my mom and her condition, but I still feel like it could be a little more clean. Communication with the family is ok. In my experience, I'm the one who has to initiate it most times. They're good about responding/giving me answers most of the time. At this point, I'm not sure if I would recommend them to family and friends. I'm still trying to get a feel for the facility and how well it's run.

StoryPoint is a beautiful facility and in a great location. A place where our mother has made it to be her home away from home. Fortunately we live near by and are able to see her on a regular basis and interact with many of the staff and residents. The quality of care,is mediocre over all with some exceptions in every level of staff. Being short staffed is frustrating for residents and workers. The quality of food served the residents is subpar. Residents express their frustration over the food being ill prepared, cold, non edible which we have witnessed ourselves. We are told improvements are being made and some have been made but the quality and variety fall short. Elderly people have special dietary needs, require tender foods to be easily cut. Mealtime is a highlight of the day for many, when they leave the table hungry or frustrated it’s sad. Activities are available, but some variety would be welcomed. Monthly expenses are high for the overall return.
