I moved in on September 10, 2022. The rooms here are very nice and very spacious. I have enough room for myself and when my family visits. The kitchen could have a little bit more lighting and a taller refrigerator but I enjoy it every day.

We know this is a problem everywhere but they are understaffed but we really do like the friendliness of the staff - they are always super nice and always try and make sure our concerns and heard and met. They never had any trouble showing us documentation on what they have done with our loved one if we have questions. they do have a lot of different activities but sometimes they don't have enough people to remind the residents what is going on. Also we think it would be beneficial for those at fall risk like our loved one if they had a buzzer or alarm attached to the bed incase a fall were to happen the staff would be notified

They don't have enough staff, because nobody has enough staff to tend to the residents the way they need to. The staff are trying their best, as they are limited on the time they can spend with the residents. The community is trying; however, they are over priced, like all the other communities in the area.

The location is close. The value for the money could be better. The staff seems pretty friendly, and will answer questions to the best of their knowledge.

We toured with Glen Abbey and it was a very nice and new facility. They did not have transportation available for the residents which would have been an issue for my loved one. There was also just not a lot going on at all, it was very quiet. I think my loved one would have felt too "contained" here.

Danbury Brunswick is a nice place, but you definitely have to keep on top of staff to make sure things are getting done that are supposed to be done. We've had issues with medications and physical therapy. I also wish they had better communication with the family as well as the resident(s) because sometimes we're in the dark as to what's going on. For example: my loved one is supposed to receive physical therapy, so I got the doctor order for it and turned it in. I didn't hear anything for two weeks and when I went to follow up, they told me they were waiting for insurance approval. It would have been nice to know they received it and were waiting on the insurance. I'd like some sort of portal, written communication, email or even texts so that I can know they're on top of things. I get they have a lot of residents and things can get lost, but on another token we're left kind of sitting around wondering sometimes.

They were good, but they weren't qualified to handle my loved one's care once he went into hospice. Therefore we had to transfer him to a skilled nursing facility. I understand staffing shortages are occurring everywhere, but I think they need more qualified staff to care for people. Also, they need to work on serving residents things they can eat, especially the ones who struggle to feed themselves.

They had staff that were wonderful and other staff that were not helpful at all. The community accused my family members of taking my loved one's hearing aides. The staff ended up finding the hearing aides at the nurses station. There was a staff member that went above and beyond to support my loved one during their stay here. The communication with the PT department was good when I could get ahold of someone. [Name removed] was amazing during the intake process and you could really tell she cared about the residents.

Everything that was presented to us in the beginning, did not happen after my loved one moved in. They promised meal plan options with two different entres, and the option to get something else, like a cheeseburge, if our loved one did not like intitial options. There was a change in the menus from corporate, which impacted the quality of food services. The front desk staff is okay. There was a lot of follow-up to get services in place. They were not always on top of things, for us to get services for a home health aide.

The thing that troubles me that is in the memory care unit, they were never able to have it fully staffed. A lot of time you were talking to agency nurses who were competent but did not know the residents. The second thing was the fact that my loved one contracted covid while here which to me says they are not requiring staff to be vaccinated - because the other covid protocols were good. It is a clean and new facility but the staffing is what really troubled me.

The Village is very comfortable place to live. Very clean, fun activities and friendly and helpful staff. However; the food preperation could use some improvment.

The facility is nice, and you can see lots of wildlife from the window - deer, squirrels, and birds, which my family member loves. The food is nice. But it's difficult to visit because you have to be buzzed in at the door, and frequently there isn't a staff member available to buzz you in. Know that you have to stay involved in your famly member's care because they don't normally follow through on medications and timing of medications. It's difficult to find the appropriate staff member to resolve an issue when you have one. They do have fun and appropriate activities. What it boils down to is when you go to look at the place, what they're trying to sell you when you visit is not what you really get as far as the care of your family member goes. I think they're basically good folks and they're trying to do better, but I'm concerned if my loved one's care needs increase over time that the issues we're already having will be compounded.

I was excited for mom to be there after talking to the Admin director. It seemed there were a lot of upper management changes after she moved in. Some of those changes were not good. I'm not too impressed with communication from the Director/Nurse. I have talked to him directly and am hoping that things will change. My mom seems happy and that's the most important part.

The reason why the overall experience was down graded to a "3" is because they promised transportation services. However, there is none now. That was a great benefit when Mom got in there but now I must take off work to drive her to her appointments.

If your loved one can be independent and take care of themselves, it's a great place to be. If they need additional assistance (for instance if they're wheelchair bound or need help getting in and out of bed) there is not enough staff. If I come to them with questions or concerns, how they handle it depends on who it is. They can be defensive, or there are a few who are diligent and try to do their jobs. The rest are just there to get a paycheck. They're also on their third chef in nine months, so the food has not been very good.

The air and heat never worked correctly for entire time my mother was there. I'm not a expert on these places but it's low key, not as fancy some others, very friendly and my mother got to stay in the same room in Independent living till she had hospice and passed, as I stated her air and heat were never fixed. Overall ,it was a good experience.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a nice community, it was clean even with it being older and the meals were amazing. All of the staff were very nice, but the lady we met with did not know anything about the care our loved one would need so we just felt at that moment this wasn't the place for her.

During my mom's three month stay on some days it was great, and on other days it was not. Just like every place, they are understaffed and can only do so much with the people they were given. On the not-so-good days, she didn't get showered when she was supposed to. I realize she can refuse, but she was in memory care, so there are ways around that. If she didn't want to do anything they wouldn't make her or try to reason with her. That wasn't all of them, there were some good caretakers and there were some not-so-good ones. In regards to communication - if I didn't ask questions, nothing was told to me. When I addressed issues they were somewhat responsive, but it did always take a while.
