Front Staff, Nurses Are The Best (Personable/Caring). No grandfathered residents to be put on Medicaid beds for future. Mealtime way too long, not enough servers, meals have no variety, lack of cooking skills (taste of food, can't cook an egg to order, lack of driver for bus, cost too high, for what you get, constant staff change over, Directors don't make positive changes, cleaning is only fair quality only (sanitation not good cleaning).

My Mom’s room was very nice, but as with all places way overpriced. The food was poor. They get food from Gordon Foods and simply heat and serve. They do not cater to special diets, so all the food is bland. The turnover of kitchen staff is very high. The care staffing was very inadequate on nights, weekends, and holidays. The care staffing was basically inadequate every day. They only have to check on residents every 6 hours. If the resident wants to sleep all day, the staff is good with that as it’s less work for them. Once new staff is hired and trained, they usually quit within 2 weeks. Staff are mandated to work a second 8-hour shift if someone calls off work. Imagine a staff person who has worked 12 or more hours caring for your loved one. Housekeeping is very minimal. They don’t regularly clean carpeting or showers. The doors of the building are always locked and you often have to wait quite a while to get in, and once you’re in and want to leave it is even worse.

The facility uses contract nursing staff and staffing is short. Usually different staff you don't recognize. And staff to residents ratio seems low so the residents don't get as much attention as they should. Also many times the facility chef has not been in for a meal so the facility orders pizza to be brought in. I know our family member cannot eat pizza. Our family member has not received scheduled services as they should have such as showers, laundry being done, bedding changed and being ready by their normal bedtime. The facility only has one automatic door so it's very limiting when a resident wants to go outside.

I would tell others looking into Oliver Woods to not move in here. Look somewhere else.

The location is fabulous for our loved one. Our loved one is beginning to feel like apart of the community which is very good as she was NOT open to the idea of independent living. I've heard several of the residents complain about the food (our loved one included). Apparently the salmon is a good option .

The experience as been up and down. I have to be on the staff to check on them. I had to get on the staff for my loved one. The staff is good. However, the communication from the top don't talk to the nurses.

There have been some rather large mistakes made. The director of the facility is not responsible as far as the needs in certain situations. I know it's a new place and they're still working on getting the kinks out, but I feel they should have been much better prepared.

The only comment is not on the facility itself, but the aid service contracted with the facility. When we first toured they made it sound like the aid service was there all the time, to assist residents as needed. Turns out they are only there at night. I am not mad at the facility or aid service, just felt misled is all. They made it sound as if seniors could age in place and increase care levels as need increases. But that's not the case, at least not right now.

A little dissapointed. They need to improve with the onboarding process. The director seems to be clueless, with what's going on. We picked this community because, they had a doctor on site, they offered gradual care as needed, it was a close location, and the meals appeared to be good. They need to improve on, little things like leaving a note, and indicating that things were fixed. It would also be nice, if they had a schedule of laundry days on the door, to help the residents remember things. The staff is super friendly. When they engage with the residents, they are super nice to them.

Negatives : The housekeeping service provided has been inconsistent at best due to the staffing issues that they are having. Maintenance response time has been mediocre as well. Positives: the culture is great, the people are nice, lots of activities provided, and the food is good. She is very happy here.

They were great before Mom moved in. It sounded like it would be a great fit for her. However, once she made the move things were not as we were led to believe. They didn't have the necessary personnel to provide the care she required. We put her in memory care so she would have one on one care for feeding and making sure she was clean. Mom only lived a week and a half after she moved in.

My loved one was a resident here. I would NOT recommend them for Assisted Living. The facility itself is clean and the staff is friendly. The activities director is very nice and they have a wide variety of great activities. However, my loved one was in assisted living. Housekeeping wasn't great and the food was terrible. A lot of times, she would have to wait in the dining area for an hour to get food. It's more expensive than a lot of other places. Again, I wouldn't recommend them for Assisted Living, but I would for Independent Living.

Our family had an in person tour and we were not interested in it at all, it may be a good option for another family but it wasn't for us. It was very new and did feel arm and homey, but our loved one it was just not going to be the best fit.

The residents are pretty much on their own, so if your loved one is not on an independent level, they will not flourish here. A lot of the people appear to be needing more of an assisted living level of care. There are firetrucks and ambulances there multiple times a week carting people away dead and alive. Due to the nature of independent living, the functioning level of the staff available to help is minimal. The building is older, and the repairs are many. The urgency to which they take care of them is minimal. Again, that goes back to the staffing shortage. However, the staff that are there are wonderful. The activities director is awesome. The main administrative sales person is awesome. The staff are just overworked because there's not enough of them. Overall my loved one has shown improvement. Her affect is brighter as she acclimates to her new home. It's a safe environment - there are many layers of safety protocols in place. And the food is actually very tasty with a lot of variety.

My loved one lived here and we were not impressed. The staff isn't very friendly. Cleanliness of the main areas of the facility is good, but the rooms are not clean. Housekeeping is definitely not good as far as the residents' rooms. I always ended up cleaning for my loved one after housekeeping had come and gone. I wouldn't recommend them.

My loved one seems happy there overall. The apartment is nice and spacious. She says the food is hit or miss since though since they've had a change with the chef/menu.

When a facility says they can handle your loved one in memory care, be very specific in what kind of symptoms they will be dealing with. I repeatedly told them my husband had a violent paranoia Parkinson's/dementia type and everyone assured me they could handle him and they seen it before. This turned out not to be the case and I was asked 3 times in 6 weeks to come there to settle him down until he eventually was asked to leave. I think they are not equipped or trained to handle difficult cases. I found you need to find a home that specializes in memory care and not assisted living.

Anthology of Novi is a beautiful beautiful place, it really is lovely and the grounds are incredibly nice. However they could work to improve on their follow through - they are very good at selling you the community and their presentation. They also could bring on a contact person or have an onboarding process to help things go smoothly with the move in, help make the residents comfortable and answer any questions they may have and just to show them around
