Staff are caring. Wish they'd be more attentive. My mom is a fall risk and needs to be checked on at least every 2 hrs but they're maybe understaffed because it doesn't happen. Rooms are spacious and clean. Food is good. Activities are fine. Wish they'd bring therapy dogs or other animals into memory care. Location is very good.

Communication with staff / wellness is not good Appearance is nice. I would not recommend.

It's VERY expensive, but they do offer a lot for the price tag. Mom lives in the condos surrounding the assisted-living building, but she still has access to all of the meals and activities that the main house offers. She seems to be pleased with everything. In my limited interactions, the staff have been very friendly as well.

The place is extremely clean and my moms living space is larger than most other nursing homes I have visited. She has a tiny kitchen area, large living room, and a decent sized private bathroom with a washer/dryer unit and nice bedroom. The staff is very friendly, however. The management is poor and sometimes it feels like pulling teeth trying to get help or answers to important questions concerning my mom. I think they are just very short staffed and the nurse aides come and go so you never know who you're going to get..some way better than others. The food is sub par and my mom doesn't really like about half of it. Again, like the staff, some are amazing and some are horrible! The place offers physical, mental, psychological ,and occupational therapies which are all great!!!! I guess the main reason why I only rate it a 3 is lack of communication from management, mediocre food, and the place is very expensive. For the money, I expected better. It's not horrible, and my mom is finally making friends and is accepting it but for the money, I just think certain things could be way better.

Turnover is very high and care is sometimes really good depending upon the staff that is working together and other times, really bad. Also, not enough staff in the evenings. I chose this because the sales pitch was good. The care does not live up to sales job. The dining in memory care is awful and not at all what the assisted living dining experience is. I was told the food was the same but, it is not. I have been thinking about moving my mother. I haven't because she knows some of the staff that are so good with her and the others living there.

Not enough staff in AL. Poor medication administration with meds very late or missing. Administrator unavailable for meeting or little to no interaction with residents are a few.

We would give them a 3.5. It is very clean. Phone calls are not returned from staff or home health . Front staff could be a little nicer to residents from what I have observed in the lobby.

I really wouldn't feel comfortable recommending to others without knowing what their priorities are. We are struggling with inconsistent cleaning of apartment (supposed to be every other week but rarely happening), turn over with dining staff that causes issues and poor communication regarding maintenance issues. There are definitely pros and cons. Therapists are the biggest reason my mom is staying there for now. Access to therapy, quality of therapists and services they provide.

StoryPoint is a very lovely facility. The staff for the patients are very professional and very pleasant. I was kind of mislead going into StoryPoint. My mother went into the facility under hospice care. The case manager of StoryPoint said that the staff there would work with her and she might even come off of hospice. Well, that never happened The hospice service was horrible. I had to remove her from their service and admit her back into the hospital.

The recruitment officer was very impressive. The physical space is beautiful. Some of the aides are good. Others should be in a different line of work.

Clean and good food. Rooms are nice. The aides are just OK. I felt they could be more compassionate and try and work with the residents a bit better. Not very personable. We all know older people can be difficult but I felt they needed to try a little harder and have more attention to detail- example resident doesn't want to change their clothes so they just don't do it. I come to visit and same clothes are on since yesterday. Bedside tray table has spilled food and they don't wipe it. Food on the floor not picked up. Fresh water not always in her bedside insulated cup. They have a hard job but I always felt I had to go at least every other day be sure my Mom had what she needed.

They are not staffed 24/7. They are set up for independent living. I would recommend this facility for those that do not need any care.

I will tell you this the food is horrible. The car service is horrible. My dad's apartment is wonderful. The people are wonderful the place in in disarray, but they are trying to fix it up.

Our biggest issue is with their nursing. It's a pretty place, updates being made

We didn't get orientation on laundry day. Cleaning day. How to navigate what things you need to call for and what things you can just expect. She was only eating in her room and meal delivery was an issue and still is. She needed to be more assertive in making her needs known. They do not have a permanent administrator to my knowledge. It was a challenge finding how to arrange visiting physician, podiatrist, and what the nurses can and cannot do and the role of the wellness coordinator. We should have had a sit down right after her arrival and that is partly on us. It's just very different from the assisted living where I worked many years ago. Most of the staff is very nice. It is a very clean and well kept building. Her room is usually cleaned well every week. She is not involved in activities and doesn't want to be. The food is an ongoing issue with her and from what I hear many other residents too. I heard they hired a new chef recently so will see how that goes. Until she was able to do it herself she had someone coming in to help care for her cat 2 times per day. That is something they offer through an outside vender Corsocare (private pay} and that worked very well. I had never heard of that and was thankful that was available. I wouldn't consider moving her at this point because there are going to be issues with any facility. She is also not going to be happy where ever and can't go home so here we are. I feel any concerns can be overcome . I can't make a judgment about value comparably but is certainly pricy . She needs minimal assist and gets around in her wheelchair. The room and bathroom are well situated for this. If someone needed a lot of assistance they would have to make sure a good care plan was in place and followed up on. The best thing is the facility is within walking distance from our condo and is very convenient. That is the main reason we chose it and that still stands.

It's a nice place for those who need a little or no assistance but not for someone who needs a lot of help and for someone who's too stubborn to ask for help. My 96 year old mother-in-law doesn't participate in activities because she doesn't want to bother staff to get her there, even though we're paying a lot of money for Corso services. She just sits in a wheelchair in her apartment all day. She doesn't go to the dining room mainly because she sits there all by herself for a long time before being served. Doesn't like the food (I've seen her salads and they're basically just lettuce). Granted, a lot of things she complains about aren't all necessarily true. She did complain about not having her diaper changed in the beginning, but we found out she was declining assistance and wanted them to come back another time. That has been sorted out. Her apartment is very nice. She just needs to be in a more open, assisted setting.

From the moment we walked in, [name removed] made us feel incredibly welcome. Resident Care staff [name removed] personally welcomed us. We found everyone we met attentive, professional, and intentional about treating us like family. It gives me such peace of mind knowing my parents are safe, well-cared for, and genuinely happy. The experienced Administrative Director, [name removed], is excellent, well informed and always a step ahead of potential challenges. I can highly recommend Briarwood to anyone looking for top-tier senior living in Allegan! The community is beautiful and spotlessly maintained by [name removed]. It feels more like a cozy home than a facility. The food is amazing-prepared by Executive Chef [name removed] and her highly trained sous chefs and bakers, meals are delicious, attractive, and always impressive—[name removed] keeps a full calendar of fun activities that keeps everyone engaged socially. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a vibrant and exciting next chapter for our family!

They are running a business. Compassion will come after that...maybe. I would not recommend them at this time.
