It is hard to judge a service/facility like this without having more time to assess how much the resident is benefiting. My score may change, hopefully higher once the resident has had time to acclimate.

A very friendly staff. They all have been kind to my parents. The food & times they eat have been the biggest hurdle for my father. But on the other hand a relief for my mother. Having a hair stylist right around the corner for Mom is so nice as she used to drive 45 miles round trip to have her hair done. It is so nice to know if myself & sibling are out of town we can depend on staff at the Marquette to look in on Mom & Dad. They also will try to work out financially what you can afford.

The Manor is a lovely place always very warm and friendly. Most residents will enjoy it. If your family member needs additional care there is a service there from a third party called Home Helpers. For the most part they are okay but the have employ named Edwina who is abusive and controlling. When I called the service to have her replaced with another I was insulted and treated like a child - STAY AWAY FROM THEM!! You will regret it forever!

A little too expensive. Activities are getting better.

I assisted in coordinating with someone to go here for 6 months. She has no complaints and she loves the facility. I am rating everything as a 5.

Short staffed, don't know unless you go in there. They could improve on being more responsive. They do not reply back in a reasonable time.

Not there 4 hours away. They have had some turn over in staff and makes it hard for transitioning. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing, It is improving. The staff and nursing is awesome.

My mother absolutely love living at ponder Creek the only thing that I keep hearing is from my mother and most of the residents that I talk to is that the food has really gone downhill and they they just get sick and it take so long to be served and the food is just not good quality

I finally feel like I can be a daughter again. My mother had been living with us for 2 years and we finally made the decision to this for her. Every time I visit the staff is wonderful and smiling. Everyone from the nurses to the helpers know the personal details of her life! One suggestion would be to send more frequent updates to the families. I always get a good update when I call or visit but I always have to reach out first. Would love to get email updates. Overall very happy!

Independence Village in Brighton has two areas...the Harbors side which is more for people requiring extra assistance of various degrees, and the Independent side, which describes itself. All of the staff I have encountered have been very pleasant,helpful, and accomodating. The cleaning staff do a very thorough job at all times, and the servers in the dining areas are friendly and try to get you your meals as quickly as possible, for the most part. If you change your mind about your order, they will usually don't have a problem replacing it with something else. However, if you go towards the end of the mealtimes they sometimes run out of the items you may want. There are many planned outings that you can participate in if you wish, as well as activities at the facility itself. There is a bus service most days to use to shop, for doctors appointments, or whatever. There is also an exercise room with a treadmill, stationary bicycle,etc and laundry rooms you can use . Most of the staff quickly learn everyone's name and treat you respectfully. The one area I feel they could improve on is the food. Usually there are two main entree choices, along with beverages, salads and soup, and desserts. I find a lot of the main entree choices are overly sauce or gravy covered or heavily batter coated. Quite a few are fried . The portion sizes are small. (However, if you ask they will usually give you more if they aren't out). Often lunch the next day will include the same items as dinner the night before. Lots of tomato and sausage based soups and sauces. Potatoes are served a lot and are often dry, or sauce covered or fried. Some menu items, in my opinion, should be removed completely, such as chipped beef on toast(deli sliced beef cut up in small pieces in what tastes like thick mushroom soup); hamburger stroganoff which looks and tastes like ground beef in thick whitesauce, and cheese soup, which tastes like melted Velveeta cheese. Usually the fish is pretty good except the fried smelt. It just seems like the meals are heavy on carbohydrates and processed meats and many are fried. Occasionally they have special buffets, which are delicious, and their desserts are excellent. All the food is prepared on site , not shipped in from somewhere, which is good. So, this is a real nice facility with an excellent, friendly , helpful staff and lots of activities, as long as you're not too fussy about what you eat.

Overall everything has been good. I know these facilites are busy and sometimes short handed, but I wished that my mother could have a shower more often then 2 times a week. She is incontinent and doesn't like to bother anyone so she tries to clean herself and disposes the evidence of wash clothes and her own clothing. This is suppose to be home to them and I know she showered more the 2 times weekly.

I have a relative at Pearl Crossing. It is a nice facility and Bruce and his wife Susan are capable and fit in well. Not so sure about the second set of resident managers (sisters) as I have heard a number of residents complain. I also have the impression that they lack people skills. I heard one of the sisters snap at a resident and then when she saw that I heard, she apologized (to me) and indicated she should not have done that. They do not seem to tolerate seniors very well, so I'm not sure what they are doing in a job like that. I have seen some improvement since they first started though. Besides that, I think the food is very good. They give the right portions for seniors. They have pastry and fruit out at all times. The coffee isn't very good. The apartments are nice, although there is little cabinet and storage space in most. Housekeeping doesn't do dishes and they don't move anything when they "dust." They should be more helpful and help the seniors with more housekeeping duties. The facility leases space to non-medical home health care (Senior Bridge) and other medical services (physical therapy, etc.) with Senior Independence. However, the nurse practitioners (Nurse Practioner Health Services) that claim to be there are never there and have not returned three different phone calls to me, even when I indicated it was urgent. Totally worthless. My relative loves Bingo but that's about all they do as far as activities is concerned. I don't see a lot of excitment there. The dining room is supposed to be "open dining" meaning you can sit anywhere, but don't dare sit in someone's seat or else those seniors will make a big fuss. Many residents are extremely nice; you'll always have the catty ones, but it's better here than the previous assisted living my relative was at. The Senior Bridge home health care ladies (that I've met) are very nice, caring and helpful. I really wish there could be some medical care invovled in what they do. It would help the families so much more. I think the residents would enjoy more "special event" things that would involved having their families join in. Lastly, I believe the carpeting needs updating; it is worn and has stains that will not come out simply with cleaning, so the facility would look so much nicer with newer carpeting.

The people here have been very kind to him. He requires more activity and movement because he's younger, and they've worked a little harder to involve him in things. The caregivers don't have a clue about his care plan. I have had to keep on them. They changed management a week after we moved him in.

They are very helpful, friendly and trustworthy.

They are doing okay. There is a lot of confusion about the coordination of care. They charge for all the extra assistance's. There is a lot of miscommunication between the staff and the people that come to help with different services. They are not very organized. They are short staffed. It's clean and the food is good. I think everyone is really nice, but the coordination and communication really needs work.

We (my aunt and myself), are very pleased with Creekside At Shallowford. My aunt has settled in quite nicely and well adjusted. Management is helpful, the food is good, and the residents are friendly. Thank you "A PLACE FOR MOM" for aiding in the search process and yes, I would recommend this service, and Creekside to others. Thank you!!

Does not have full kitchen, scheduled meals and if you miss those, you still pay for them. Not interested. Nice place though

There are a few things they do extremely well at the New England Club, and a few areas that I would really like to see them improve. In terms of their staff they are absolutely top notch! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. They were on a first name basis with my Mom after meeting her the first time, and she is still tickled every time they remember that she prefers decaf coffee. One area that I'd really like to see them work on, however, are their activities. They have things going on frequently, but it is generally only the same few activities which my Mom has no interest in. When we were moving her in they said they would set up a bridge group, and so far that has happened only once.

I looks like it will be a great facility, but they are not quite there yet. There was a lot of water damage when we went, and seems to be a work in progress. They had an apartment with a bedroom with a study. Thinking back those turns would be a little difficult to maneuver in a wheelchair.

The cleanliness is exceptional. They have two separate managers, that live within the facility. There are two husband and wife teams, Margita is on top of things, but her husband is not very professional, he was telling stories about other residents, and making light of some things, that were delicate. We were told that if one resident passed away the place was ours. I felt like there was a breach of confidentiality. When we got there we were promised a map and orientation packet, so she could locate where things were, that was not available. No one called us to get the contract signed, I had to do all the initiating. The fees weren't explained clearly, or up front. The administration could pull it together a little bit. The other manager Bill was better, but even he reminded me a little of a used car salesman. There was nothing to clearly let her know what to do or who to call if she needs some maintenance. They have a bussing system that is nice. The chef is wonderful, they have multiple entrees to choose from. They have an extensive library. She is really happy there, but the management definitely needs work.
