We chose this community because, of the set-up. They have two different sides of the community, it;s one side where they take care of people, and another side where the residents reside. The food is okay, and I have seen some activities.

Pro: Administrative personnel are very willing to meet and discuss any issues or concerns with loved ones. They are open to ideas and suggestions from family members, and do try to work collaboratively to come to the most beneficial and efficacious solution possible. Con: Adequate staff coverage is greatly lacking. Additionally, as staff are in charge of passing meds, higher standards of education, more regular training, as well as frequent staff in services to ensure competence in this key area of care, as well as all other areas, should be implemented to assure residents are receiving individualized, high quality, optimal care. Unless residents are fortunate enough to have active, advocating family members, we believe that many receive a lesser degree of care, namely in the memory care unit, as they are less able to self advocate.

Holiday The Marquette was a beautiful building. It was clean and very pretty. But to me, it felt like more of an aging community, more of a stereotypical older folks home than independent living. And I didn't feel as much sense of community. It was a nice place, and the staff seemed very accommodating to the residents. We just didn’t get that homey feeling we were looking for.

Anthology of Farmington Hill is a brand new facility so it has all the bright and shiny things, the rooms are nice and it has all the amenities your loved one may need and the assistance your loved one may need. It could be a little less expensive it is pricy, but for the quality of the care and the safeness it brings it is worth it.

They've taken great care of my family member. The staff is amazing. The nursing and care staff are friendly. They love my family member, and she loves them. The only problem I've had is that the charges have gone up dramatically since she moved in. It's hard to understand how she could qualify for entry level care going in and then be moved to memory care within a couple of months. I understand part of that was due to the fact that she walked out of the facility on one occasion. It's just a difficult situation.

We really like Independence Village of Ankeny. The staff bend the rules some to make sure the residents are happy and satisfied. They take care of my loved one very well here. We would definitely recommend this facility to others looking.

They promised the moon, but they don't deliver. They sure as heck try harder than the last place we were at. I know there have been several people from other places who have gone to Glen Oaks. I don't think they are great, but they're doing a lot better than the other choices we have in Des Moines. I had a friend bring her father-in-law here; he's a really tough case and Glen Oaks does a great job on those really difficult clients. I give them a lot of credit for taking the hard cases. We can get kind of lost when we're also a hard case, but we're non-violent and can sit still. It's really hard, but they do a better job than other places. They're not perfect and they could come further up the ladder, but I give them a lot of credit for taking those hard case and for doing they best they can. I just wish they'd do better for my loved one.

The overall atmosphere of the community is very friendly, our friend who is a resident there has been able to meet new people and make new friends. We really like that it is not a super large community so it is not overwhelming at all. It is just very light and airy, it is well located and we would recommend. [name removed[ who took us on the tour and showed us the rooms was great to work with and a great problem solver.

Overall, the facility is clean and the staff is friendly. Staff turnover is fairly high, but I don't blame the facility. It's just a sign of the times. I'm much happier with my husband being here than when he was at home. This place has really helped him. I'm much less stressed and things are going good. I would recommend them to family and friends!

Our family really enjoyed our tour experience with the team at StoryPoint Gahanna. The facility was very clean, bright and updated. Staff was friendly that we encountered.

The biggest problem we're having is the laundry care is unorganized. They have lost several pieces of my mom's clothing and bedding but the facility is very nice and clean

All of the staff have been genuinely kind and nice. The community is still in the startup phase of having residents move in, so right now the care is very personalized, and the group of residents is very small. One of the downsides right now is they don't have transportation in place. They don't have a driver or a bus that can take the residents to the grocery store, doctor appointments, etc. Also because it's a newer facility, they're in the process of hiring staff, so the employees are new and have short tenure. I think all of those things will improve over time. The will is there. The desire and passion is there. I think it will all work itself out over time.

Overall the community is relatively clean and we like how the memory care unit is fairly small so there aren't a ton of residents to make it overwhelming. We like that our loved one is able to have a private room for a good value. Some of the staff are very nice and caring. However just like everyone else they are struggling with staffing and the turnover rate has been frustrating at times - we do wish they would communication more with the families on the status of things

In regards to the person who is there: I feel that they enjoy the additional get-togethers, the activities, the events, and the excursions. They are always able to listen to family members of the participants that are there. They can possibly add things in (as they see fit) that will also accommodate the participants that are there.

The staff and management are all caring, compassionate and willing to go above and beyond to care for all the residents. I feel that through no fault of their own some of the staff are not trained up to a level needed to give the care that some of the residents require. Some of the staff do not or have not been reminded that "attention to detail" is paramount. I also feel that due to possible staffing shortages not all of the residents are able to receive everything they require. This holds true across the board, housekeeping and maintenance (hard workers but need more staff) It is understood that there are corporate rules and regulations, checks and balances but with that stated there needs to be common sense and less bottom line and more training for the staff

This was a nice community. The community was updated. The had limited availability, and the pricing is based on assessments.

as a new residents [dates removed] my overall experience has been a good one. Staff interaction is excellent. I would recommend our community to my family and friends.
