Toured Grace Haven with my brother and our mom, looking for a place for her to thrive during her last years with us. Grace Haven was a beautiful place with wonderful people! The chef gave my mom a box of fresh, homemade treats which she opened and sampled right away. We met with [name removed]who gave us a tour of the building and showed us what her personal apartment could look like. The residents were playing bingo when we got there and seemed to really enjoy themselves. They gave us an activity calendar which was full of a variety of different activities, my mom was very excited to see that. I gave 4 stars because the building was a little tricky to find originally since it sits off the road a bit.

The staff are friendly and helpful for the most part. However, we have noticed personal belongings have gone missing.

The staff is very good to my mom. And the younger kids that serve the food in dining room are absolutely wonderful. She does not get reminded or taken to the activities. It's my understanding she is to have cleaning services and life enrichment activities which she doesn't receive

I have been a resident of Independence Village in Traverse City for four months. It's a beautiful facility, classically designed with a variety of apartments. Three meals daily are served with regular choices and alternate choices. Food is usually quite good, but not always! The apartments are clean and neat and freshly painted when you moved in. Everything is taken care of for you, so the only real expense you have is rent. Assistance is offered through Coresocare on an as needed basis, and for additional cost. So it's perfect for anyone who lives independently and doesn't want nursing home care or assisted living care. The assistance here is not nursing staff but are caregivers. Everyone here is kind and helpful and generous. This is pretty much a new staff. There are Issues in the past that they are working to resolve and seem to be making progress.

Facility is very clean, I like how the staff brings the residents together in common areas but also lets a resident stay in the room if they want to. There seems to be frequent staff turnover however they do maintain a level quality of care. Occasionally short staffed on some days but our responsive to needs.

The staff, the people, the aides there, absolutely wonderful. Full of positivity, personality and joy. The people make that place special. The factor that keeps it from being a 5 and perfect for us: the daily medical oversight, plan, check-ins. Mom has had medical issues while there. When she returns from the hospital, there from the outside seems to be minimal synchronization and continuation of the hospital and GP physician's plans of post care. I know they aren't staffed to be a direct care medical facility, per se, but perhaps clearer and more consistent medical care when needed?

The activity directors at Danbury, [name removed] and [name removed], are amazing and truly stand out. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the Director of Nursing. I also don’t like the key system for Memory Care Plus. You have to leave your keys and use a pod to gain access, and it’s a long walk back to Memory Care. If you’re working or visiting frequently, that distance can be frustrating. The environment feels too spread out for families coming and going, and the location being away from the city makes it less convenient—though that may just be my personal preference. Another concern is the dining setup in Memory Care. Unlike [facility name removed], Danbury doesn’t separate the dining room, which affects residents’ dignity. Some residents need to be fed, and this happens right in front of others three times a day, which I find uncomfortable.

When I moved in there was a problem with the elevator not working. It has been fixed now. I would recommend. Right now they are remodeling the whole place. They had a water main rupture. The dining room is closed, but they are delivering our meals to our apartments. The food is good here. The people who work here a very friendly and helpful. If you need something fixed they are on top of it.

The community is newer. Extra safety. Measures in apartments (infrared cameras to detect falls). Medtechs are nice and patient. New management started this past spring/summer. Several of the management has left, but it hasn't seemed to affect the daily life of my mom, which is good.

The facility has a great location, which was the initial reason we chose Briarwood. The lower score is caused by staff trying to accommodate difficult residents creating waste.

The facility is clean and all the employees are friendly. My mom feels safe and comfortable.

They have excellent staff and facilities. I would recommend them to others who are searching for a place for their loved one.

The staff are kind and attentive. The food is fantastic. The facility is a good value for the money. My only recommendation is to have more activities for the memory care people. That's a little sparse right now.

Staff is great. Activities I enjoy. My apartment is large. The place is very clean. I would recommend this community to others who are searching for one.

The activities team is doing more, engaging with residents to encourage participation. The care team is improving. All care situations will have some problematic staff. CorsoCare deals with them and improves. I would recommend to others.

I am a healthcare provider who frequently visits Bayfield. The community is always very clean, the staff members are friendly and helpful, and the residents are all welcoming and willing to engage! I have had great experiences with the executive director, [name removed] and the activities director, [name removed]. Both are very energetic and caring, and make sure the residents in their community have wonderful experiences and are always feeling welcomed.

Staff is wonderful! Everyone is kind and compassionate. Telephone communication can be challenging at times after the receptionist leaves. Family parties for the holidays, Veterans Day activities, and other events create a close community.

What I like the most about the community is the staff and also not sensitive to people with allergies like lactose intolerant.
