The initial tour was very inviting and beautiful. They were very welcoming. Move-in day and the first couple months were a little frustrating, trying to get some basic things set up. Communication was up and down the first couple months and occasionally hard to get a response. Food is good with small portions as to be expected. The staff is friendly, although sometimes understaffing is an issue. Good people stretched thin. Following up with them is very important.

We chose this facility for our mom after terrible experiences at two other local facilities. Danbury of Mentor is far superior. The staff takes pride in their work, they are caring and certainly know how to deal with dementia clients in the memory care. Danbury has also helped me with peace of mind, knowing that my mom is now happy and content. Thank you Danbury for all that you do.

For the entire 5 or so years my parents have resided in Devonshire at some level. I can't say enough about the kindness of the staff. I have witnessed the care, consideration, and respect given to residents on all levels including hospice. Residents are treated with dignity.

The staff especially the executive staff are all very nice and work extremely hard to do the very best. But as everyone on this field knows, there is never enough staff to go around so like any place they have their hiccups. I would say the food is probably best described as inconsistent. The biggest issue we have had has been about maintenance issues. Delays due to limited staffing and other issues is the primary issue at the moment. Again, this isn't new to any of these facilities but there has been a struggle to get some basic issues handled in a reasonable timeframe. But overall they have been great to work with and if an issue is presented they move quick to try and resolve the best they can.

Liked the privacy that IVP offered when visiting with my mom. She had a single room

My mom has been more social since being there. She is happy and active in this facility. The food is great. We had a private meal with our family for her birthday and it was really good. We have been disappointed with lack of some personal communication with admin staff. Not sure they are performing all of housekeeping tasks We assumed were included in cost. Overall we are satisfied.

My family member has lived at this location for the last 6 years. They have always had such wonderful staff, but they never seem to stick around. The owner has changed 3 times in the 6 years as well. With all that said, the amenities are alright. The food is pretty good most of the time. The programming for activities is hit or miss. The salon and in house PT are a nice touch. It is clean for the most part. Overall, we’re happy with Independence Village (formerly [community removed]).

What we like the most about Independence Village are the activities that are available, Friday afternoon happy hours, most employees are very kind, and some are really fun. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families.

I came here very unsure of my desire and ability to live in a retirement or assisted living community. Living here a short time, about 2 and a half months, has proven to be enjoyable and healthy for me. Staff seems competent. Food is mostly enjoyable, well prepared, nutritious, well balanced. The renovations currently underway are, mostly, well thought out, functional and tasteful. Some activities are scheduled, although, I've not taken the initiative to join in much, as of yet. I do intend to do more.

We had a few missteps in the first few weeks with the Aids handling my dad‘s needs consistently and accurately. However, the administrators have been responsive and willing to make adjustments. Overall, my dad loves the place, therefore I’ve been pleased as well.

I was given a contract to sign describing level of care and told I'd receive a copy,but didn't get one. I expected better hygiene care, diaper change, fecal matter cleaned from body and bathroom. My sister and I have had to change and clean up parents everyday. We take turns and worry if we don't go. They're very understaffed and workers are expected to fill many roles. Some not fully trained medically to complete hygiene or medication administration tasks.

StoryPoint Louisville East was recommended to us as an active and supportive senior apartment community for my 69-year-old brother, who is somewhat disabled following a stroke. We recently moved him into a ground-floor studio apartment, whose rent includes utilities, internet, cable TV, and three cooked meals per day. He is extremely pleased with not only his apartment, but also the cable TV lineup, the "excellent food", the other residents of the community that he has met, and the friendly, capable staff. Staff worked hard to get his apartment renovations completed as quickly as possible, and have been very responsive to our various requests. We are also pleased with the variety of activities offered and services available to community residents.

Answer 1 is a reflection of answer 4. For answer 4, there was a situation late in our stay when my wife was in hospice care there, where the 3rd shift staff refused to give the morphine prescription at my request. My wife was in serious discomfort. The staff person asked my wife if she was in pain, my wife being in the last stage of alzheimer's said no, so the staff person walked away, not taking my word for it and not medicating. The morning staff immediately medicated her. I reported it, but to no avail.

They share information on a PCP group that visits the facility but to this date (6 weeks in) I have had no luck getting my mom connected with this service. The housekeeping is spotty and inconsistent as they seem to be having issues with the supervisor in this area. For example, my mom is supposed to be getting her bed linens cleaned biweekly and her bed remade but that hasn't happened consistently and she ends up making her own bed which is risky. There's a sense that once they got her as a resident some of the services that she was promised went by the wayside. Emails sent to the wellness director and residential specialist have gone unanswered. It's a nice place overall. Well decorated and attractive.

My husband is having major cancer surgery tomorrow and the people and the staff here could not be more supportive. They could improve on the food by offering less processed meals.

I like the variety of food options at each meal. I like housekeeping cleaning the apartment weekly. I especially like the care giver that work for Corsecare. That's the agency inside Storypoint that provides additional personal help when needed. All the employees at Storypoint are wonderful, caring people.

Overall, we are happy with our relative’s care. I wish communication about their life inside the facility was more often. In general when visiting the memory care area, one wish would be to have more coordination in activities.

It’s a nice facility overall. They seem to be having some issues at this time with staffing/management of housekeeping. This has resulted in the frequency of cleaning and laundry being less than promised. Also the medical group they speak about at move in took weeks to respond to a request to get my parent on the caseload. This was after about 4 calls and messages. As long as things improve we will remain there.

They're under new management. He's very receptive to feedback, however my parent and their friends are very unhappy with many of the changes, particularly the food. I've had to repeatedly bring food to my parent to make sure they actually ate, and often their friends will ask for food as well. I've complained and feedback has been given, but I'm not seeing much improvement . Otherwise, very nice facility. Wish they had better communication between their nursing staff, but otherwise good.

[facility removed] provides excellent care at the facility. The meals are served in the dining room restaurant style. Housekeeping is provided but not great.
