We would not recommend Lombard Place. A lot went wrong during our stay here. My loved ones purse and dentures went missing and we were not made aware of it for a week. The only reason we found out was because I came to visit and asked where they were. The floor was always sticky and it just never felt clean. There were never many staff around. All in all it was not a very good experience. This was back in 2021 though, so things may have changed since then...

I don't recommend this place, the turn over is bad from the top down. The current Executive Director seems like she doesn’t know what's going on. Communication with the residents and the family is very poor. Keep an eye on your monthly statements. If your family member is complaining about something believe them and ask questions.

Things to be aware of from our experience: High staff turnover Nursing quality Night staff quality Price increases Leadership Felt like the corporate goal is mostly about making money above all. Nice location and was generally kept clean. It was ever changing at this location because workers were revolving frequently.

Overall we like the value of it, it is priced right and the facility itself is fairly new and in good condition however there are some improvements they can make. The dining room is closer for dinner so the residents have to go down and pick up their packaged meals and take them back to their rooms - we just think being so far out from covid they would have it open but we do know they are struggling with staffing. Also in terms of activities they really do not have much going on, they said there would be a buddy system but that has not really materialized so there just isn't much for our loved one to do currently

My husband was a fall risk, and they knew that going in. But they don't allow any alarms to monitor for falls, and they don't watch the residents enough. They wouldn't put any pads on the floor or bed. He fell out of bed and out of his wheelchair. They didn't get him up to walk. Every time he fell, they sent him to the ER, and nothing was wrong with him. After a couple of weeks, I pulled him out of there. The staff were really crabby and hardly spoke English. Some were wonderful, but the majority were crabby. I have him in a different facility now that is wonderful. It's much more secure and I feel much more satisfied there.

The staff is very poor quality. They do not follow through, even with reminders. The menu and quality of food is decent. In general, our family has found that the staff is unfriendly and acts put out if we need to address concerns. The medical staff does not follow through with daily medications and treatment. Food and activities are just fair. [name removed], who was the general manager we toured with before placing our loved one, promised things that don't seem to happen unless we ask. I think it really boils down to poor management and hiring poor staff quality, with their expectations of their employees being very low. We have found the staff numerous times smoking out the back or on their phones and totally not engaged with with residents. The staff has poor hygiene. We pay for our loved one's room to be cleaned and her laundry to be done, and that is not being done. We end up doing it ourselves for her. If the resident doesn't have family advocates, I can't imagine what it would be like to live there. If we weren't there always on top of them, I don't think things would get done at all.

My parents have lived in this location for three years. Even before Covid things went downhill quality wise with meals - both with taste and variety of offerings. People constantly complain about it. Im told by some it's because it must be cooked to Spectrum's guidelines Rumor is a chef can't come in with their own recipes or modify Enclave recipes even if its what people ask for. The main draw of moving to one of these places is not to cook and an expectation of great food. All I hear from my parents friends is the joke, "Well, at least I don't need to cook." Ha Ha. Directors come and go as well as chefs. All have great intentions at first for change and the community gets hopeful. After a few months they leave vaguely explaining they had a disagreement with upper management or saying nothing at all. Programs such as a day group for people with memory problems are gone and never coming back. This was one reason we chose the Enclave too.

My mom lived here for less than four months. She was visually disabled and money was stolen from her room on more than one occasion. Laundry was not done on a regular basis, sometimes she was not dressed before 11:00, and dosages were not correct after they took over her meds. These were just some things that we were paying extra to have done for her. Finally when she left we were told that we wouldn't get much money back after the thirty day notice because of apartment damages. We took pictures of every wall and there was no damage when she left. They have no proof of any repairs. Be aware that you pay full price for a month after leaving, including services that cannot be rendered like bathing, dressing, and meds. Finally mom fell due to a lack of oxygen from double pneumonia. No one there discovered she was sick until she went to the hospital after the fall. Mom did not go back to this facility.

First anyone looking to move into independent living needs to understand what you are getting and what you are giving up when you live at home. Doing it again I would have preferred to stay in my own home vs. being treated like a tenant in an apartment building. Place was nice when moved in. Promised to perform cleaning of floors when moved did not due so. As time has gone on quality of service and professionalism of management have gone down as the furnishings have become more fussy. Over the last two years service has gone down, food is inedible. New fees and management under current manager get more money hungry with the day.

We didn't like Lombard Place at all. Assisted living was really nice, but memory care, which we were looking for was separate and not nice at all. And we didn't like that there was such a discrepancy between the two. It seemed like a great place if you don't have memory problems though.

there is a problem at the Homestead now with residents getting $$$ stolen from their rooms it is a number of residents, staff seems to not be listening to them and makes comments to them like "they think they are just old and do not remember if they had cash or if they spent it" .............this is a serious issue and management need to make these residents feel they can report things and get them looked into, this is suppose to be a safe place but residents do not feel that way at the moment. Please listen to your residents, and investigate when something is reported to you

While the place is really clean and was recently remodeled; however , it is not a well run or caring facility. Some of the long time caring staff was let go in the last two years. The current staff is very cold and unfriendly . If you advocate for your parent they find that a threat and a challenge . The food is awful and served buffet style in to-go containers as they don’t have dining room staff. Residents can eat their boxed meals in their rooms or in the dining Room. They were doing less and charging more., milking the “covid excus” for just about everything including activities . Awful. We do not recommend

My loved ones nurse aids were great and I did not care for the nurse director and the front desk lady was awesome also. We paid a lot extra for our loved ones to not get the care she needed and medications were missed for five days. If you have a fully functioning family member that does not need any care or assistance it will be okay. But if the person needs more care and assistance it is horrible.

My parents were here at Park Meadows for a year, so most of the time they were on lock down with COVID. We were not happy with how the facility handled COVID. My parents were at the end of the long hallways, when they delivered the meals, they would get to their room and would have no choices left. They also did not provide activities so residents were left to stay in their rooms a lot of the time. I would not recommend at this moment.

My 95 year old Father-in-Law moved into Independent living (based on this facilities requirements) in winter 2020, just before the Covid crisis. The facility is beautiful and the staff kind and helpful, but due to covid, the place virtually shut down due to state health restrictions. Due to these restrictions which virtually restricted residents from leaving their rooms, my FIL became lost and disoriented. Around mid-summer the Director had reservations about he remaining in Independent living. And by late Summer, this director determined that he no longer met their policy for Independent living, but rather Memory Care, thus skipping altogether xxxxxxx care. We had my FIL tested by independent doctor and VA senior specialists, and they all stated he would benefit from assisted living, but in not stretch of the imagination was he a candidate for memory care. After continued discussions with Palos Senior Care management, and their firm decision to move him into Memory Care, our family decided to move him out of this facility and move him into another Senior facility in Bolingbrook (Senior Star). My FIL was placed in 1st level ASSISTED lIVING WHERE HE HAS BECAME VERY ACTIVE AND SOCIABLE IN THE COMMUNITY despite Covid restrictions. He exercises daily and his personality and cognitive responses are near normal for a 95 year old man. My poor rating of Palos Senior Living is not critical of the staff or the facilities, which are excellent. However, the policies of their corporation, Spectrum, and the community's director not to listen to reason, is for all current and future residents considering Palos Senior Living to be very cautious in their determination where to live. You must be fully aware of Spectrum's policies and how they could affect your long term care.

In the beginning the admin lady who introduced us to the facility was very nice, she was very accommodating and very welcoming, which is why we placed our loved ones there. In the end they hired a new admin lady and she was not welcoming and did not listen. It was wonderful in the beginning, the cleanliness of the community was fine.We paid monthly fees for our loved one to receiver her medicine which never happened. She did not have her breathing treatments in four months, she missed her insulin treatments for four weeks, and missed three separate doses of medicine.

I would want others to know when looking into Shawnee Hills that if your loved one has dietary restrictions, they will not help you. They promised they but they do not cater to dietary restrictions. The staff here continuously changes, from cleaning to management. When my mom left here, she finally had someone who listened to her. this all happened during COVID, we were not able to visit her for 3 months. They do have a nice workout and laundry facility, but other than that we participated in nothing because nothing was available. I would recommend for people 80 and up. It is an older clientele.

I would not recommend. The room sizes and the layout of the community were good. Staff is very good. The food was minimal and not appetizing. Outdoor space was good. The administration told us progression from Independent Living to Assisted Living would be an easy process. They never helped us to navigate the transition to Assisted Living. My mother suffered as a result.
