My family member has lived at the Homestead for nearly 5 years. I was initially thrilled with the facility, however, over the past year, things have deteriorated. Multiple construction /renovation projects have been ongoing for the past 5 months. A garage/storage unit for residents has reduced the number of visitor parking spaces significantly. In my opinion, new carpet on the staircase has too much padding, making it a safety hazard for residents with compromised motor skills. The new furniture in the entry area is not at all comfortable and is not what is shown on this website. New chairs were installed in the beauty salon over a year ago. Standard foot rests are a safety for residents with reduced physical mobility issues. I initially spoke with the administrator a year ago about possibly ordering ADA compliant footrests. Those footrests have not yet arrived although I have been told on multiple occasions they are coming. Transportation services and activities for residents and family members have decreased. Finally, the quality of food served in the dining room has consistently declined. I am saddened that despite the efforts of many dedicated employees, the Homestead is not the same facility if was 5 years ago and I can no longer recommend it to those searching for a homelike long-term care residence.

I have had four family members at Hickory View for many years since 2001 -- it is now early April 2016. The new manager (since late 2015) has made many changes that are not for the better: adding garages for the cottages, at the expense of parking for visitors is clearly not an improvement. There have been several construction and reconfiguration projects inside that took months (many months!) to finish -- and some are still not yet complete. These unfinished projects are a hazard to residents and unsightly to everyone. Recently, we were informed that staffers are no longer available to move residents' furniture (a regular bed to the closet to make way for a hospice bed). Our family member was also told that she may not take a banana from the breakfast area to eat in her room -- that the banana must be eaten in the dining room. Really? A banana must cost all of $.14. The shuttle bus availability is much curtailed, and outings are less frequent. I understand that this is a for-profit business, but I am sure that just the mismanagement of recent construction projects have cost much more than the shuttle service, staff helpers, and a whole crate of bananas. I know that many of the staff -- some of whom have been there many years longer than the new manager -- are embarrassed and disenfranchised as well. While the facility is nice, at this time, I cannot recommend Hickory View because of the decreasing level of services provided, lack of parking, poor morale, low visibility of the site manager (I have not yet even seen her), and silly 'rules' in the dining room.

I have lived at Las Soleras for over a year now and the meals keep getting worse and worse. The building is beautiful but at the end of the day the services are not the best. They are planning on raising rates again and I'm not sure it's worth staying.

This facility is comparatively costly, understaffed with medical professionals & dingy. Thus would have been our last choice.

The care on the assisted living side was inadequate. The communication with staff was difficult as different team members would give contradictory information. The care coordinator lied about a conversation we had so the business manager would be able to charge us for early lease termination. We were able to fight it but it was a lot of stress at a time I didn't need any more stress.

They are all about the money!!! Our family was concerned by a recent billing change at Lone Mountain Memory Care. Even though medication management decreased due to increased family involvement, the facility reassessed my mother from Level 2 to Level 3 care, raising costs by about[Amount Removed] per month. My mother's ability did not change, just their algorithm. The algorithm changed in order to increase rent/care rates. Because we visit several times a week and closely monitor her care, the increase felt difficult to justify and financially driven rather than based on a clear change in needs. Families should ask detailed questions about how care levels are assessed and how pricing changes may affect monthly costs.

Staff including management and front desk turn over very, very quickly. 2-3 directors a year since opening. kitchen staff CONSTANTLY leaving. Residents often wait 1-2 hours for food to hit the table. Sometimes buffet because of no servers. This food is not tasty at all. Other independent living places allow the chef on site to determine recipes and meals. The Enclave’s are all corporate recipes. The joke residents constantly tell is, “Well, at least I didn't need to cook or do dishes.” Ha ha, not worth it for the money spent. You can view the available apartments online yourself - there are many. People are leaving in despair. Do tour Cadence or the Clarendale and ask for a meal. It will be delicious and timely served. Food is extremely important when you are no longer mobile enough for hobbies or outings and can’t take yourself to a restaurants. Do not skimp yourself or a loved one on this. Don’t go hungry at the end of your life. The food is bad, don’t live here.

It wasn't a good experience because they told me they could take care of her and then 3 days later said they weren't equipped for her. She's not there anymore.

They need to make a big improvement with the food. Need to be more organized with the medication. Need to schedule the showers so the residents don't have to wait all day for the showers people to show up. They don't know if they should go for breakfast or change their cloths because they don't know when they will show up.

I would tell other looking to make sure you are aware of actually pricing and what is used to determine levels of care. It is a nice facility, but the level of care costs were not.

My friend has lived at Las Soleras for a number of years. I am a frequent visitor. Problems: constant staff turnover, including management; extremely poor meal service in terms of consistent food choices/availability; inconsistent cooking and wait staff; extremely long waits for meals. Repairs on apartments are also inconsistent and slow to be completed. Corporate owners/investors have no concern for running a smooth, welcoming and healthy senior facility, cutting corners, micromanaging management and treating staff and residents with disregard. It’s a beautiful physical plant with an infected core.

Make sure to read the fine print of their contact. They charged my mother for 60 days of services she did not receive. The care was mostly acceptable however the staff was always rushed when taking care of my mother. Staff turn over was definitely a problem.

Too big to care, lots of turnover,

My mom needs assisted living temporarily after she had a fall. She has made some friends but in the month and a half she has been there, they have lost all of their serving staff in the dining room because of corporate greed. All of their management staff has been very slow to respond to any questions or concerns. My mom never got an orientation. The food is ok at best. They rated me mom at a care level 5 just to get the most bang for “her” buck. Ver few of the activities are actually run by staff and very few are actually in place. Very disappointed with all the promises made but not delivered.

While this facility has some staff that is genuinely caring, the services promised are lacking for the cost. Things that are promised that are not delivered: healthy, tasty food, weekly cleaning services, group exercise classes and fast response time. When the room cleaning is done, it is poor. They need more help, but the cost should be decreased if there is not enough staff to do as promised. Management says they are responding to complaints, but nothing changes — staff just keeps fluxing. This has been a frustrating experience. We want good care and respect for our loved ones.

They do not have enough staff, especially overnight, to handle someone if they need a higher tiered level of care (which they offer for $$). Its unfortunate. They offer it....but can't possibly deliver it.

The promises from the tour didn't match once you sign up to be there I felt they are not honest with all the hidden cost and even we tried to discuss this they became very defensive and not professional Unfortunately we were already committed

It's a nice place with friendly staff. However, we were promised a lot to get us in, that never happened. This as well as a big rent increase is why mom moved.

My parents lived in AL for 20 months. Issues from day one with invoices. About 10 of those months were spent trying to make sense of charges and disputing them. Emails left unresponded to. Staff turnover led to miscommunication and confusion. 3 different AL head nurses during that short time. Min. # of caregivers in AL during day and typically 1 working nights which caused dangerous situations for my mom. I stayed many nights due to lack of help. I increased level of care on paper for both parents, $$$$, but nothing was done differently. Before they left, head nurse and manager supposedly communicated to Finance of overcharge but it became "lost". Meds were delayed many times. NP from provider changed 3 times. Food was usually poor quality, missing order. They moved out first week of month and pd whole month. 2 months now, still no refund for the rest. We will be charged $[removed] for norm wear and tear on small bedroom carpet. This place made so much work for me. Much money wasted.

Things that were supposed to be being done were not. After several requests many of the problems were still not being addressed or taken care of. Another resident kept coming in my mom’s room and stealing stuff from her. They were asked several times to keep her door locked but even after several request it was not being done.
