Spectrum Retirement

It's a new place, clean and very nice looking. Friendly staff, nice residents. The food in the dining rooms is mediocre institutional. A bit of a disappointment for a place that is so good in other respects. One staff member changed my father's catheter bag, but didn't attach the new bag properly, so after he left my father leaked urine all over the carpet.

I took a tour of Homestead while looking for a place for my mother that is closer to where I live. She is currently in a retirement community on the east coast. There are a lot of positives about Homestead including the friendliness of the staff, the intimate size and family-like feel to the place, and the available activities. Since I only have one other place to compare it to at this point, my only real concern is that it seems a bit pricey. For an equivalent, if not a bit cheaper price, my mother's current unit is significantly larger and has more of an apartment feel to it with separate rooms. Upon reflection, I also decided that the 3-meal-a-day setup at Homestead may not be the best fit for her. She currently can choose from 1, 2 or 3 meals a day and when she goes out to eat or eats in her apartment, the meals she misses carry over to the next month. I feel that she would be "wasting" a lot of her meals under the 3-meal-a-day plan. Back to the positives, it appears that Homestead is a very caring place and that they work very hard to provide the assistance needed for seniors to live comfortably in their own places.

My aunt has been a Crestview resident for 5 years now & is very happy there. She has a lovely 2 bedroom apartment with stove, microwave, refrigerator & dishwasher and a nice patio. She participates in many activities & has made lots of new friends there.

This was our first experience with independent senior living. Its a little pricey. Food was fair to good. Staff was always caring and helpful. Sandy always made activities fun.

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was new looking, well kept, and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. However, my loved one was a bit beyond the level of care they provide here. It is definitely worth a look for those looking into assisted living, however!

Unfortunately we didn't get to stay long, but we loved the place.

Beautiful facility. AS we arrived, the bus was leaving for an outing. We did not see many residents in the facility while we were there. We ate lunch in the dining room alone. There were a handful of residents eating sandwiches in the Café next door. It turns out that the meal plan (2 meals a day) includes breakfast and either lunch or dinner (but not both), though you can purchase them. My impression is that this lovely facility is perfect for fairly active adults who are able to take advantage of the numerous outings.

I guess the activities for the assisted living, it would be helpful if they would make more of an effort to involve them. Some of them may have problems with memory so if the caregivers could remind them that would be helpful.

We have struggled for the past month connecting with my sibling's doctor to request medication changes. Elizabeth Wisneski, Director of Assisted Living, worked tirelessly and effectively in securing the medication prescriptions and orders. She communicates with me frequently about any issues. I deeply value her concern and vigilance.

Three Oaks is clean, and has a pleasant living atmosphere. Overall the staff is knowledgeable friendly, and do seem to really care about their residents. My mother has lived there for 7 months and is adjusting to assisted living life. She has not always been completely satisfied, but the staff has always tried to accommodate her the best they can. There has been much discussion among residents about the meals recently regarding the quality. It is my understanding residents have not been happy with the food, and hope things get changed soon. Overall Three Oaks has been good, and i believe they are striving to make it better.

Three oaks was a nice place. It's clean and new, and the people were friendly. We did move out though, because after the price was agreed upon, and we moved her in. Once we got there, they tacked on a couple of thousand dollars, in extra charges for specialized care that she didn't need. That made it no longer affordable.

The Gardens at Ocotillo Senior Living is a very nice place. I have heard some complaints about the food. That's the only complaint that I have heard. Everything else is very good. Overall, It is a very nice place and I would recommend it.

My mother is satisfied with everything except the dining room. She says it's good food that is not well prepared. They could improve on the quality of the preparation, like making sure the food is well cooked and hot. They do have activities but not everyone is receptive to them. The location of the Shawnee Hills is convenient. My mother is very happy with everything else. (Care Services not applicable)

A wonderful open facility with a great staff who were welcoming and sincere. Decor is very nice and color choices were uplifting and comforting at same time. Went at the lunch hour and the food smell was great, the portions were well balanced and not stingy on the serving size. All residents seemed comfortable and peaceful. The memory care unit has a very unique style to it - everyone has a front porch and a private room/space with the staff located right in the hub of activity. Very easy progression into the unit from other areas as one progresses in need. Is located in a different area of town then my folks would be used to but once in the facility may be easy enough to get used to, hard to know for sure.

They're level of communication with all of the family members has been very good. The admission process was very well handled. Any time there have been any issues, they have worked to get them straightened out. They certainly met and exceeded our expectations and that of our in-laws. They are very happy to be there. It is a very welcoming place, both in terms of welcoming the residents and in terms of welcoming in family members for meals and visits. The only area for improvement is that they could have communicated a little better with us and among themselves in terms of who is doing what with the care services.

Staff was very friendly and the food is superb. The largest area for improvement may be In getting new residents connected with others. I saw the buddy system work quite well where my Mother formerly lived and they also had luncheons for new people with the residents who signed up to be buddies. They also recognized those residents who went out of their way to make others feel at home. It is so critical to make new people feel welcomed and to make friends.

The staff at Palmilla are very friendly and courteous, from Michelle at reception to the med techs....they are all great. They greet me every time I come through the door, answer any questions I have and always have a smile for you. Also they have a fabulous chef!

Only visited a few times but from what I've seen its going good so far.

My mom has been there at Creve Coeur Assisted Living for only about two months so far, but thus far the experience has been good. They are brand new and there are a few things still being worked out. The experience has been very good, all the way from touring the facility to the process of getting moved in. The only critique I have is that things are a bit disorganized, but I really think that is due to the newness. I looked at seven facilities in the area and feel very confident that I chose the right one with Creve Coeur Assisted Living!

Very nice, modern, well appointed facility with (at least) three levels of residency: independent, assisted, and memory care. The proximity to a hospital is good, but it's location does not afford outlook or neighborhood connection.
