terrible

It was terrible at Brookdale McMinnville Town Center. The care was terrible. She laid in bed for days with out being changed. All they have are teenagers that work there that are on their cell phones all the time. My mother-in-law has passed away. I am very disappointed in this facility. It was not good.

They could improve on a lot. Going there and talking to them and seeing the property was wonderful. My mom was there for 2 and half days and they totally fell down on the job. My moms caregiver was not wearing her pager and I felt like my mom was being put in harms way. They were very good about coming across and getting us in there, but once she was in there they definitely dropped the ball and I can't imagine putting her in another nursing facility or assisted living because of the care she got there.

Be aware

Recommend that you stay and watch what kind of activities they offer. We have been less than satisfied with her care and the quality of the activities in the memory care area. Also laundry gets lost often and we get others things. Snacks are given but consist of cake or cookies. Care givers are less than helpful and often rude. Would recommend a nanny cam also.

Poor service

I was a volunteer for a resident on hospice and got to observe that there was no nursr at about 610p, they were very short resident assistance staff and after asking a staff regarding delay in answering call light, she apologized and informed that they were short staff and actually have been that way since she started. She claimed that it was difficult talking to top management without retaliation. She also mentioned that it was hard to change top management ways even when someone tries to change it because top management run the place like [removed]. I got the same message from another staff the nect day. This has borthered me since that visit. These staff could not express themselves clearly in English but dedicated to do their best and are been taken advantage of. If this is the mentality of top management, then it is appalling.

Poor Resident safety

This is a community that is putting financial gain ahead of client safety. Poor staff ratio, retention is very poor over the years. No t enough resources to handle the acuity of residents. A good sales speech foes not deliver client safety. The front entrance does not show the underlying concerns of this location. Good in your search.

This is a community that does not deliver what they promise. Care is greatly compromised. Financial gain is the ultimate priority and management bonus is the key focus. You can definitely get better care in some nursing home than this money making machine. They are definitely not what they say to are.

Not good for those that wander!

My dad was in Orchard Park for three days and then had to be hospitalized so I cannot give a good rating based on his needs because he was the type to get up at night and walk but since they only check on people once in an hour, this was not a good place for him because he had fallen and no one was around to help him for an hour or more, so he just was found laying in the hallway? No one is there to look down the halls in the evening, how sad is that at a memory care center? The shared bathroom was very unsanitary for many days after my father fell on a Wednesday and I brought it to the attention of the staff and it was still like that by Sunday 4 days later??

We had so much trouble with the community.

This did not go very well at all. We had to pay a 1500$ move in fee, but when we got there we had to move the previous person's furniture out of the room, so she could move in. They didn't tell the other person in the room that we were coming and she got really upset. There was one closet and we couldn't use it because the other resident was there first. They weren't ready for us to come at all. We had so much trouble with the community. She went almost two weeks without a shower, because she refused, and they just let her. We had trouble with the medication. They ordered therapy for my loved one, without even telling us. We had to bring her own toilet paper, and when there are four people sharing a bathroom, I'm not sure how that is supposed to work. Every time we went she was bawling to go home, and take her out of there. She said other residents would come in her room and take stuff. They couldn't find residents at times when we were there. We were in a rush to find something, they showed us the wrong room and the tour was very confusing. They rushed us to sign the papers. We weren't even there three weeks, and now they want us to pay February's rent, because we didn't give 30 days notice, and we won't get her deposit back, even thought we had to move furniture. Every time I walked in there there was a lady that was sitting at the phone upset, and the staff was rude to her, and there were always people trying to get out. I kept seeing red flag after red flag. Every time we went the staff was different, they never woke the roommate up to go to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They never gave us a copy of the contract, and we still haven't gotten copies. The first feeling I got was that they were pushing it to fill it, and it is beautiful, but looks aren't everything. I would just say make sure you are looking out for these things, and keep your eye on things.

I had a really bad experience with the Elmcroft of Bedford. My husband passed away due to a virus that was going around in this facility. My husband contracted it, vomited numerous times, and ended up drowning in it. After that, no one from Elmcroft ever contacted me, never showed any type of sympathy whatsoever. So bad experience overall.

Run the other way!!!

Our Mom has been here for almost a year. It seems there has been one bad situation after another. And when I say bad, I mean bad!!! Including physical harm on two separate occasions by the same caregiver!! Our latest dilemma involved total lack of competence in the staffs ability to follow through with some much needed medical attention. Another disappointment has been the utter lack of help with hygiene. Overall not a good experience with the exception of the activities director, Lisa, who managed to make this place bearable. She is wonderful!! Think twice before placing a loved one in this place!

This place is a joke

Sorry to inform you, we no longer use this facility. We have had bad experiences @ Myrtle Beach Ests. In reality they do not work w/VA. like they say, they hassle you continually about benefits. The Management is veryun- professional. Their food stinks (a running joke soup al- most every night in Sept, & Oct. of 2013, Souptember & Souptober). I would not place my dog here. They move their residents around constantly in the memory bldg. so they never remember where their rooms are (resi- dents are confused enough as it is). There is not enough care-givers to keep residents out of others rooms, so everything has to be locked in closets be- cause residents are allowed to roam into others rooms & steal things (eye glasses, clothes, personal effects). Kept changing the rates on us.

Sad situation!

When we first moved my mother there she and we were very happy. When Elmcroft took over, things went downhill. The management no longer cared and their attitude showed they didn't care. The RAs loved my mom, but soon her care took a turn where everyone blamed the other person for things not getting done. The fees increased over $1000.00 a month in 3 years for the lowest level of care. Very sad situation. Understaffed and low morale.

Don't Be Fooled - All That Glitters Isn't Gold! Stay Away!!

My relative was in assisted living there. Looks nice, but there are a lot of bad things going on there. They gave male aides keys to her apt. without telling her - never even had the respect to introduce her to them. So when she saw a strange man roaming around her apt., she got very frightened - she said "suppose I was undressed or in the bathroom?" When I informed the manager of AL about this, I was promised it would not happen again - it did. She was supposed to receive reminders about activities in the building, as she has dementia & can't remember when something is going on - most of the time they didn't bother to tell her (she was paying for reminders), so she sat alone doing nothing in her apt. When she first came there, they didn't tell me to take her medication with me in case we came back after 10:00 PM. So when we returned from the evening after 10:00 PM, they REFUSED to give her her meds - which they kept locked in her drawer in her apt. She needed them to stay well, yet they refused to give them to her! Also, the elevators in the AL building could be death traps (especially in the heat of the summer), as there is no ventilation in them, & it is VERY hot when the doors close. There is a fan u can hear, but it is covered up by the light. Whenever the elevator breaks down, which was a few times in the few months my relative was there, they take their good old time to fix it, & in the meanwhile, the resident has to walk, depending where their apt. is & which elevator is broken, all the way around the square to get the elevator to go downstairs, & then, all the way back around again to get to the main building once they get downstairs. Also, no common sense here. When there was a hurricane approaching, they brought in the plants from her terrace, & the bugs with them. Instead of spraying them first (common sense), they didn't. She therefore got bugs all over her apt. There are many more bad things that happened there, but too many to list on here.

Not a good place for my dad

They lied to my mom... And I was there to hear it.... The sales woman said he could have a double room until a single became available and they wouldn't put anyone in with him. After he moved in he got a roommate! They told her that if he moved out that notice was not required... I found that hard to believe, and asked her the question 3 different ways... Now they say notice was required in the contract she signed. It's filthy!! The food is not edible. They don't give the residents enough to eat. My dad fell and called my mom... She drove there and he was still on the floor waiting for help an hour later... It's all about raking in the money for this place!

Be cautious, Gorgeous facility but just be cautious!

It is a gorgeous facility but please be cautious if you put a loved one in this facility. What they say they do vs what they do is often not accurate. I have witnessed many horrible things happen at this facility. Many of the staff have good hearts but continuous short staffing put many at risk. If you choose this beautiful campus I hope you are able to stay very active in your loved ones life and watch closely for problems.

one star would be too high but i had to rate to submit

if you do not care about your elder, then send them there. They lie, take your money and your family is treated with no respect or care. It is unbelievable the things that i saw in such a short time. It appears the individuals in the lock down center can do what ever they want to do, no structure given there. The only thing they can't do is leave. I saw people eating like pigs they were not given any help. Medicines were not properly given and if they did not think you fit in you were left alone all alone until your family took you home. This place is unfortunatly very nice to look at and clean but make sure you check on your loved one there, after time you will see. They tell you about all their memory care, check out all the kids games that are not used, they do play bingo, i think that is all they no how to do. The food is crap for the price you pay! no flavor very bland and cheaply made. Bare floors in some rooms. unbelievable. So if your family is there you better check on them. My loved one ended up in a psych unit as they could not care for her but they said they could. We stopped payment on the check!

I came in and I was treated sooo extremely rudely as I visited a my relatives that lived there, wow and oh my god the managers were rude to me especially the dietary manager wow she was so mean I felt unwanted there, now I see why families are pulling out there grandparents out of there, I'm helping getting my family out to find a better place, don't get me wrong the employees are great but the managers are awfull to the elderly and to there own staff, if I had to say anything good about the place it is very clean.
