Pros are the location, the activities director, the community relations director, some of the staff who really care despite being overworked, and the fact that you aren't charged more for level of care services. Cons are everything else. This facility is fine if you or your loved one just needs a place to stay where someone can make sure you/they don't wander off and that there are regular meals. If things are needed beyond that like bathing, nursing care, therapy, nutritionally-balanced meals, prevention of falls, or anything beyond a hot meal plus some socialization and a monitored "escape" route then this is not the place for them. And you still should visit often and have a camera installed if you cannot. Only take feedback from people who have actually lived there not just done a tour. Anything they sell you that states otherwise is just marketing. A facility is only as good as it's staff and the overall administration seems kind and likely means well but the daily duties fall by the wayside with disgruntled and disorganized care staff who are underpaid and overworked (according to them).

Weekend receptionist is absolutely terrible. Wouldn't want her working at my business. Unfriendly, not helpful at all. Everytime I walk in there's not a hello nor a goodbye. Complete trash. Maybe they should consider hiring friendly staff when working with the public... unreal.

The company is very biased to its residents. Having a loved one there is the worst decision you could make, they very well may walk out the front door without anyone knowing. There is not a nurse there 24 hours like they advertise. In the years I have dealt with them nurses have changed constantly all who have been equally horrible. The current nurse is very rude and uncompassionate. The new ED is worse than the last she will smile at you and lie to your face. The employees are great they work short often but they will address you and your loved ones by name. I have seen employees who work so much to cover shifts they look like zombies.Still yet they are more knowledgeable than the management staff. Calling the corporate office does no good, I think it actually makes them angrier. A little piece of advice when touring this place. Listen to nothing they tell you, instead talk to residents who live there. Got to meals with them. Pop up at odd times and check in often. Don't call when you need things done, email and insist on a return email instead of a call. You have been warned!

Sad to see senior paying residents treated so poorly. Especially in the meal area. Servers were outspoken and rude and when these issues were addressed with the Director it was not corrected. As far as cleaning of the rooms it was fair at best. It is truly unfortunate that a facility can operate in such a manner. Recently the residents were mailed letters indicating that the facility has bedbugs. With all that I have just said we are currently looking for alternative places to move our loved one.

Brookdale was terrible. My dad was there for 1 week and had to be taken to the hospital for being over medicated and severely dehydrated. He was filthy,and so was his room. He had fecal matter under his nails and on the wall by his bed. He hadn't been shaved and there was food in his beard. My dad never recovered from the dehydration and died a little over a week later. Brookdale is a terrible place!!!!

Don’t leave your love one there. Would give this place 0 stars. My Dad spent only one night for rehab after hospital stay. They overdosed him and then lied to us and said he had not been given any meds. Dad was unconscious but staff refused to call 911. Said they had to do paperwork first to transfer him to hospital and were too busy to call. Said to call 911 myself if that’s what I wanted. I did and paramedics said Dad had been drugged. He was there for rehab but had him so drugged he never was able to receive physical therapy. The room he stayed in was cramped and dirty. Wall air conditioner was all moldy. Staff did not seem happy to work there. Drugged Dad because he woke up in the morning and wandered outside his room looking for his wife. Worst place ever. Dad would have died if we hadn’t found him unconscious and got him to the hospital. I wanted to share so no one would leave a family member there ever!

At first people were really nice. But after placing my wife there, I found that there was inadequate staffing, unqualified staffing and it started with the lack of supervision from the director down. Yes, my wife was difficult but to avoid her, they doubled diapered her, hardly ever checked her to see if she needed changing, even when I was there, isolated her. They just didn't know how, or care to, redirect a resident, I found her in feces full pull ups 4 times in 3 months and had to wash her myself. This facility should not be licensed to care for people with reversed personality dementia. I will never recommend this facility to anyone, especially if those that have long term insurance. They don't follow through, they lied, supervisor and director, to me that they completed the necessary paperwork for reimbursement to me, and when it was done, it was because I had to be on top of everything. Took 3 months to get reimbursed. Never will recommend this location until they change the director and hire qualified people to care for those that sometimes need help or care. I finally had to move my wife because it got so bad.

I moved my parents into Farmington Square and loved the community when they first moved in. However over time the care, shortage in staff and turn over got worse. But after what happen with our mother on New years eve we no longer had the confidence in the care she was receiving. She was sent to Salem Hospital around 2pm and we were not aware until 10:30pm she was there when the hospital called us about her discharge. My mother has dementia and my father has since passed so she was alone by herself at the hospital and the community didn't think to contact myself or any of my siblings. We were horrified that no one from Farmington notified us. I tried calling [name removed] the Executive Director but like usual I was not able to reach her. This was the last straw so we moved our mother to another memory care community and have been so happy with the change. The management team at Farmington Square are very unprofessional and lack communication skills. They have no sympathy for their faults or empathy with families and what we are going through.

This is not even a one star facility. Outrageously expensive, security issues, there is no ‘country store’, ‘computer lab’, 24 hour care, or other amenities listed. The food selection is poor (certainly not in keeping with the needs of the elderly), old and shabby interior, outside just as bad, and leaves you with a dreadful feeling every time you walk away leaving a loved one behind. It’s strictly a business. Not a warm environment for an aging person. The elderly deserve better than what they have to offer at the Arboretum.

Arboretum quoted us a price for the care of my father based on an assessment prior to admission. They increased the rate by $2000/month after he had been there only two months even though none of his care needs had changed. The care is of poor quality and we have had to hire private caregivers. Care at Arboretum is provided by unlicensed caregivers NOT nurses. My father is left to sit alone in his room all day. Arboretum will not continue to care for clients who run out of private funds.

This is what I went trough after I gave a deposit. Deposit never returned and no return calls. You decide. Dear [name removed], It was a pleasure speaking with you the other day. Here is a list of the issues that I encountered when I tried to take possession of the apartment. I was told I could not sign or get a copy of the assisted living cost until after I moved in. This should have been given to me at the time of the lease. I do not know if this is normal, but it was one of the most important part of the living arrangements in an assisted living facility. This alone makes the lease incomplete. On the [date removed] I came in for a set of keys and they were unavailable. I was given a set on the [date removed] which did not work. On the [date removed], 2 days after the lease was to take effect, I was given working keys to the apartment. One week prior to the lease date, we walked the apartment with [name removed] and gave him a list of the following items that needed to be addressed for us to move in. Kitchen: The floor molding leading into the kitchen was not attached and was in the entrance way causing a trip hazard. There was a black hand print on the wall next to the refrigerator. Porch. Sliding door handle was broken making it difficult to open the glass door. No blinds on the windows. Closet infested with spider webs and broken shelf in both closets. No blinds on windows. Second bedroom. Window sills where black and needed panting. No blinds on windows Electric plug plates missing and broken Second bathroom. Toilet was filthy. Safety hand rail in shower war broken with a sharp piece of plastic sting up. Not a necessity but was told by [name removed] that they would change out the mirror and light fixture. Master Bathroom. Not a necessity but was told by [name removed] that they would change out the mirror and light fixture. Master bedroom Window sills where black and needed panting. No blinds on windows Electric plug plates missing and broken When my son came in on the [date removed], none of these issues were addressed. On the [date removed], none of these issues were addressed. On the [date removed], none of these issues were addressed. My son walked the apartment again with Michael and went over the list again and was assured that it would be handled immediately. On Friday [date removed], I came in and nothing was done. My son and I came back the next day and we met with [name removed] and [name removed] at the apartment. On Monday my cousin came in with me to the apartment at around [date removed] for several hours going over the floor plan. The apartment was still untouched. On Tuesday my son [name removed] spoke with [name removed] and was told that all the work was being done by [name removed] and his crew the day before. The day before was the day I was in the apartment. [Name removed] went on Wednesday and nothing was done again. At that point it was time to not take the apartment. By the[date removed], the apartment was still unlivable and ready to be rented. I still did not have an assist living contract and no definitive dates of anything to be repaired for move in. our loved one went down hill from the time he entered this facility. on numerous occasions we found him completely wet from being ignored and we were paying extra monthly for adult diapers and extra care. they are not professional; the director is extremely rude and unhelpful; they do not do what they say; the don't follow through on agreements. the facility is extremely depressing with yellowed walls and dim lights. i would not recommend this facility unless your loved one is able to completly care for themselves and doesn't care about atmosphere.

Stay away I was promised working call system my mom was with out a working system for three days emailed DON never answered ED is a liar big talker promises never kept ignores residents food cold wait is usually 30 mins STAY AWAY ED smokes with DON at least 6 times a day outside building more than inside

My mother age 82 is at the Forum dying of stage 4 cancer and has resided there for a few years. I'd rather she be put in a DOG KENNEL than at the Forum! The care, the aides and the nurses don't care, leave my mother in soiled garments and when I call the nurses station because I just spoke to her and she is in pain under her breast or in her legs or in her rear end, they merely pass the buck and tell me, they will find a nurse because the nurse is doing her rounds. They do not care, they do not have any priorities aND DO NOT PUT YOUR MOTHER, FATHER OF ANY LOVED ONE THERE. MY SISTER HAS POWER OF ATTORNEY AND HEALTH CARE PROXY AND i CAN DO NOTHING TO HELP MY MOTHERS BAD CARE AT THE FORUM. YOU CAN-PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE-[removed] WAS THE FIRST NURSING HOME SHE WAS IN ANDMY SISTER SHOULD HAVE LEFT HER THERE!

My friend was fine at first when his needs were few. As his needs increased, the staff were apathetic, made themselves absent. He began to fall weekly and upon my visitations had no idea where he was. Turnover is excessive. It is a lot fluff. Pretty surroundings, dig deep for uncleaniness.

My mother’s stay their was awful. Out of the 2 1/2 months she was there she spent almost a month of that time in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities for injuries incurred at the hands of her care givers. All documented. I was paying extra for 2 person assist and many of the caregivers ignored that and tried to transfer her alone and wound up dropping her. A lot of the staff were uncaring and rude. Many of the staff complained of the place being under staffed and not a good place to work. Response to call buttons sometimes took over an hour. Many times my mom sat in soiled diapers for over an hour waiting to be changed. It was a nightmare.

I am very up set my mom has been in hickory hills almost a year now /what has happen to this place ????? Its not the same anymore??? I have lots of question no one person there can answer,We are really wanting to know what has happen to a [place for mom /Help is not any good they are not trained anymore on the alzheimers /I was very up set on what happen to my mother /she has both side of her face peeled off cutand across her noise/I get a call day after the injury happen/I was told it happen in the bathroom ?now keep in mind my mother is in a wheel chair she dont walk) she has help for everything !!!!! Mom weight 100 lbs (wet) there was 3 people with her thats what i was told/she did not fall/she was holding on to the bathroom rails / she end up with both side of her face peeled off and a whole by her noise/I spoke to the staff and came home thinking what the hell,If mom was in my care the police would be called on me I would be going to jail/yes thats right elderly abuse/This place Hickory was wonderful what has happen?????? Mom is sick these people are called special care / to care for mom where is the people that can handle this kind of care now ??? / They changed her meds. did not brother to call the family/Mom can not take any or most drugs she has to much going on that would kill her and change her manner.when you walk in the place tech s will say i love [name removed] no body else likes her she is mean,that really has not set well in my mind,what about yours??? mean, crazy is the disease she has (where is the trained special/this is big stuff to the familys who pays good money for our moms/ [removed] now things are not perfect in any place /we all know/but this place has something bad going wrong. I talk to some staff and they mean well but this is so alful /waiting for answers mean time prayers are needed/ I will give a up date to all when I get a answer :( sad

Really lousy experience for my mother in law. She pays nearly $60k a year and gets lousy help. The call button for restroom help is ignored frequently. It’s really humiliating to soil yourself because the staff ignores a call button for thirty minutes to an hour. Bad staff and worse management

Not enough staff and some staff do not care. Care in heartland is way below grade. Make sure you are there to care for your loves ones because they will not

I would not recommend anyone to purchase a home in Mallard Landing. They do not know what they are doing. They overcharged my mother on her fees. To date they owe us $1600.00. I have been trying to get this money for months. You call the office and evertime I call you can never speak to anyone. They are always in a meeting. They never return your calls. It is very sad how they treat their residents. I have spoken to multiple people they owe money to and our still waiting to receive it. This is a word of warning.
