Sinceri Senior Living

This is a little difficult because my experience has been quite varied over the period we have been here. Initially things went reasonably well for the first 3 months. Maybe a 4. Through [dates removed] and to this point I have to drop it to a 2. There have been complications with billing and accounts which they blame the transition of new ownership for. My wife is in the memory care section which I believe needs more support staff. It is hard to answer with much confidence until the new ownership transition is complete. All I can say is I am a little worried and it would only be an opinion.

This was not a good experience for us. The staff wasn't very attentive to my dad. He had a stroke and my friend called me saying something wasn't right so I drove into town and I am the one that called the nurse to have 911 called. He was there for 10 days and it was awful. I asked for dads deposit back of 1000 and they said it was a community fee and was not refundable. I said he was only there for 10 days and they didn't seem to care.

When I came back from the hospital I was treated very kindly. The staff in the wellness center were careful with me. But honestly, that ended quickly. For example I need a prescription picked up today that needs my license. Forget it. Not a chance. No understanding, no way I have to ask and pay the aide I have to do it. I wouldn't know I live in a Senior Care living facility. I'm here now until I get healthy on my own. I still don't eat in the dinning room due to the times and the food. It's just not as good as mine. I look forward to moving out and to the east side-to the ocean, to the beach, to fresh air, to vital people-that's what keeps me young. This place keeps you looking at when you are going to die. I hope you understand what I mean

My rating in the beginning was a 4 but by the end it had diminished to a 2 mostly due to Hospice care and the care. Staff had too much time on their hands, watched TV, had to be asked to do things. They never shaved [name removed] and the Hospice Aide in my presence was brutal and I was numb to say anything because I couldn't believe. I reported her twice. Hopefully she has been fired. Meals were pretty good. However as [name removed] began failing they continued to bring him large Meals and did not order pureed. Also they were instructed to tell me if they were giving him morphine and I suspect they were and did not tell me. When cleaning out his room his Columbia Spring jacket was missing. It was always in his closet because from entering in there and never used it. The sales person over stepped her bounds and recommended her family for selling our condo. I thought that was normal procedure but it was not. Clothes sent to be washed came back wet. This was reported. There were some exceptional staff [name removed] being one. Business office lady seemed not capable for all she was doing. I never was fully able to move in but paid and used the garage which I had to report that a staff was using my spot that cost over $[removed] a month for. I am sorry I can't give you a 5 star but I can't. I am even more sorry that I might have done better for [name removed]. He was a Veteran.

The facility offers many activities for residents. Nevertheless, there were scant activities taking place during the tour. The monthly dining room menu offered few food options. It was reminiscent of a school cafeteria menu (sloppy joes). One meal per day is a sandwich.

We loved Brookdale Edina. but with new ownership commutations and ability to get through to staff has fallen off to the point where I am going to move mom out. Phone problems. No return of calls. Inability to reach staff. We miss care we used to receive.

The facility was ok nothing spectacular the rooms were average, but the lady Tina was extremely pushy to get me to put my loved one in there and wouldn’t take no for an answer. The cost was very good.

My parents are new to this facility. When they first got there, the food and the service was great and it was one of the deciding factors for them to go there. They use to get fresh fruit, English muffins and hot food. Now they are under new management and the food is just terrible and is the quality is like a cheap tv dinner that is cold and unappetizing. Now they can’t get fresh fruit unless they are charged extra. They can only get canned fruit which is terrible for your health. The service is terrible. My parents had to wait an hour after their order was taken to get their food and it was cold. Also, in the rooms, the bathroom is too small for someone using a walker to move around and there was no safety handles in the shower. Activities also seem to be lacking.

I recently toured Belgrade Estates before undergoing a hip revision. This facility is close to my home in Bon Air and seems well-kept. I was looking for a place where I could get respite care following my surgery. The staff were very friendly and polite. I will need a place for about a month, where I can rest and get physical therapy. The rooms were small but appeared clean and well-kept. The gym was locked, but I was able to look through the glass doors. It seemed to have all the necessary equipment for my recovery. It is high on my list of places I will check with when I have surgery next month.

Would not recommend. Within 10 months everyone in leadership positions left. My brother passed in October....they still owe me $[removed]

Generally unimpressed. I arrived a few minutes early and let someone know I was there. Over the next 30 minutes, two other staff people asked me why I was sitting there in the lobby and if I had been helped. I told them all that I had an appointment with [name removed]. Apparently, none of them saw fit to let [name removed] know I was there. Finally, 20 minutes after my appointment time, I went to the front desk to ring the bell. A man came out of the office. I told him I had an appointment and he pointed at [name removed], who had no idea I was waiting. (Interestingly, she didn't check to see if her appointment had arrived.) A couple of family members of a resident told me the communication there was particularly poor, so they had to call every day to check on their resident. If we put a family member in a care facility, we expect them to receive care, not to have to check every day. Also, while I was waiting, I tasted the coffee - it was undrinkable.

I was not impressed with the Estate. It did not feel like a well-run, organized light, bright and cheery place. I was shown a studio apartment that was smaller than any motel that I ever stayed at. It reminded me of a room for a nun. Very depressing. The entry is small and was crowded with people waiting to take the van to apartments. I was not offered a place to wait but rather tried to stay out of the way of other residents who were waiting to go.

I have a friend who lived independently at Olympics West in Tumwater. In early [date removed] she was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot and her right arm was broken. I received a call from a local hospital where my friend was being treated. She told me that the accident happened the previous day and that the facility didn't call an ambulance for her. She said that she spent the night in her room with a broken arm before checking herself into the hospital. While I was visiting her in the emergency room I noticed that her finger and toenails nails were seriously overgrown to the extent that she couldn't even wear normal shoes. One toe nail was actually bent 90 degrees over the end of her toe! I call Olympics West about her toenails and the receptionist told me that they allowed this to happen because my friend was not in assisted living. I was under the impression that most senior living facilities have people come in to provide these type of services to people.

She actually could not stay in independent living, but I know that they could improve upon the dining system. You have to sign up for a certain time, and then you have to wait. Wait for a table to be cleared for you. My mother ate over 30 minutes after her scheduled time one night. The food was often cold. The friendliness of the community is not good. She was rejected by three tables one day to sit with people. That made her feel horrible. Their ambassador program is extremely poor. Multiple people came up to her the first day, making it overwhelming. She could not remember who she was eating with and when. my recommendation to the community would be for a meeting to be held with all of the new residents so that they could eat together and form new friendships. There should be more organization with the ambassadors so that they don't all ask to sit with the person on the same day. They should pick up the new person at their room and provide their contact information if any questions. The administrative staff was no help. Even after my mother fell, nobody checked on her to see if she was OK. She had fractured her hand. I would not recommend this community.

We are not happy with the new ownership as of now. We maybe looking to leave like several others have done. So far we are not pleased with the new management.

My loved one has been there for almost a year. At first we were very pleased. Within 6 months so many staffing changes made this go from. 4 to a 1-2. New administration is sub par. More important on showing pictures of how much fun everyone is having Staffing is poor and like a revolving door. Cleanliness has plummeted. I had to hire aides to come in and take care of her every day to be sure she is fed and toileted. Food is scarce and horrible. I am sorry to say I have been very displeased with MBG. We pay a lot Of money and the care is no longer there

There were several staff members that actually were encouraged that I would speak up to management since they saw similar issues that were not beneficial to residents. Facility leadership issues. Corporate profit influence. Questionable nursing (RN) decision making. Poor business office compliance. Primary issue is staffing levels...nowhere near sufficient.

We mom and I did not have a complaint on activities. The ladies staff helped her with those things she could not see encouraging her to participate. She had fun laughing and doing. One person helped her play bingo. Enjoyed evening activities listening to music and dancing. As mom lost eye sight due to ARMD. She did not want to participate as much. She became withdrawn. She was not encouraged anymore. With bathing on one occasion an aide was going to bathe her and mom told her the water was too hot. In broken English the aide said "no not too hot" I said "it's too hot stop" mom loves water hotter than most people. So this was very hot. Luckily she did turn down the temperature. Response time to the call bell can be extremely slow. Thirty minutes forty minutes not uncommon. One occasion I called [name removed] the sales director to ask how to get help from someone to mom's room after 45 minutes. I was told they must be assisting others. This happened multiple times while I was there. Also the alert buzzer I was encouraged to purchase for $[name removed] can go unanswered for just as long. The last 4 to 6 months the services have not been what they were in the beginning . The dining experience was good initially but when all of the kitchen staff quit about the same time the quality of food and service was poor. Pasta with sauce, no meat and potato chips was served one evening for dinner. This was the worse meal I experienced. Wait staff had poor English skills and residents had trouble understanding what was being served. We have located a new facility that I think will be better for my mother

We had some legitimate concerns about staffing. Maybe it is normal, but we experienced MUCH better care when she was moved elsewhere. The food looked decent. The staff was detached and was not very responsive to the wrist alarm. A few times when my mom needed help and we were with her, we went looking for someone after several minutes of waiting and found staff on their phone in a common room (legs tucked on in an easy chair-- did not appear to be working on their phone) or together in a staff room, chatting. When my mom initially moved in, there was a problem with the actual wristwatch (call button) but they swapped it and the responses were still slow. Activities were minimal. The best thing she got there was some one-on-one OT/PT but I don't know if that went much beyond week 1. Not much group mov't or projects, the way we experienced elsewhere. We were very happy to be able to move her after just the respite stay.

Try to get into for a respite period, when we did it, it was 2 weeks, to see what it is really like.
