We briefly looked at the facility and looked at some of the literature. The units were just smaller than we were interested in, so we didn't pursue it further.

My mom has been at Morningside for a couple of weeks. She seems to be doing well. She is making friends, the nursing staff if doing a great job of keeping up with her meds. So far we are happy.

It was signifigantly more expensive than others we saw, with no breakfast on weekends. I mean it's ridiculous these people gotta eat on the weekends too. It's thousands more than another place we saw.

There base monthly rental $3730 (semi-private) and $4600 (private). Like all the ones I have visited, dad will have to be evaluated by the facilities RN to determine the level of care he will need. Be prepared for the mid to high end of care level which is charged by the level. This place was clean but seemed to be more populated.It just didn't grab me, no good reason.

It was okay, they were just getting off of quarantine because of a gi thing going around. I didn't see anyone in the halls and then they said there was a waiting list for the dementia unit and she would stay in assisted living until a room became available, but who was going to take care of her in assisted living? She did walk me through the dementia unit and there was one elderly lady laying on her bed in the dark with an aid standing by the door, I didn't get a good feeling from it.

Nice facility but out of Mom's price range

The day to day care is a 4.5, the overall experience is a 1. The actual caretakers are a 5, the administrators get a 0. They charged us double what they quoted us, they lost her records... I could go on and on but I don't want to get upset. The day to day people, the hands on people are extremely pleasant and patient. They could be a lot more transparent at the administration level on costs and services. They could be a lot more transparent on the availability of records to those family members who may have power of attorney and they could be more responsive to emails and phone calls. I know I'm painting the administration with this sort of negative brush and for all I know they could be short-staffed and it may be the bill so we're willing to recognize that we may have been naive in talking to the sales rep instead of the administrator but the adminstrator was not available and we haven't gotten any responses by email. I don't know the circumstances which this happened which is why we're trying to work with them.

They had a bad reputation. We've talked to several people who had their loved ones at The Gardens and had to move them. When I brought this up to them they said they're under new management but you know how that goes. The tour was very nice and very professional but we still weren't sure.

They need better staffing and they lack in the cleanliness aspect. They don't have very many in house doctors, they're more of a lock down facility but they aren't memory care. They had a few activities but they did encourage more television than I would like. She liked it in the beginning but as her memory declined it just isn't condusive to someone who needs more care. I found cups that had mold in them and food left out in her room, the smell was not very good and they kind of gave excuses and said it was a recent thing. I talked to the main guy there and he said they would work on it but then it would happen again. They said they didn't have enough staff to care for her like she needed and that I should pay to have someone come in. She was so unhappy towards the end and would just stare at the ground, she couldn't communicate and it got to the point where we needed to go.

The most disturbing issue about Elmcroft is the care giver to resident ratio. They use novis hospice in house to care for the residents. They just don't have enough staff to check on the resident . They tell you that they will care for them and how often the check on them but when you move in you notice they don't do it as often as they said. Each time we have been there no one has come to check and we don't see them around. The one big plus about them is that they have a beautiful courtyard where the residents can sit and relax, which was really nice.

The staff was very nice and accommodating but when you walk in the atmosphere is not very uplifting seems a little depressing. The food wasn't very good. They do offer higher levels of care then other communities which is probably why it has that atmosphere. They have pull cord int he rooms and bathrooms but are suppose to be changing over to the pendants. They have a small enclosed courtyard where resident can relax.

Only have one opening, but someone is coming in to sign a contract for that room today. They can put you on a waiting list. They have 11 semi-private rooms and 5 private rooms. Basic cost for semi-private room is $4100 per month with additional costs depending on level of care needed. Nurse comes and does assessment. Additional costs per level: Level 1 = $475; Level 2 = $675; Level 3 = $875, Level 4 = $1075 and Level 5 = $1275. Do not take Medicaid.

Julie was full of energy and willing to chat and share lots of good information regarding the memory care unit, and the Morningside at Bellgrade overall. Upon arrival, strong pee smell was noted, but when we left and more people were around, the odor was gone. In the memory care unit, some residents were in the activity room, one sleeping, one visiting with family, one hanging out, and one coloring. The Montessori method for activities, and the containers for each resident were pointed out to me. One resident was walking without her walker, and we got someone to help her find her walker. Didn't see staff interacting with residents, wish I could have seen that. Closets are kept locked so residents stay out of each other's stuff. Other facilities have taken closet doors off for safety. Interesting how different facilities deal with those things.

I chose Elmcroft for the services they offer but my expereince has been rocky. A lot of things we are paying for they haven't come through on. There is a consistency problem, liners missing from trash cans or not having any diapers. The people there are good and working with us. We hope these inconsistencies are soon fixed but for follow through on services we pay for I'd give them a 3.

25 March 2013 toured. Senior mgmt very experienced. Nice environment - pocket areas for residents to be alone but out of room. Current maintenance person not very skilled. Calendar not overly full on a daily basis. Helpful in explaining importance of State certified vs. Nurse certified Med Aids. Did not go with this facility due to cost as it relates to other quality facilities I visited. Would trust the care provided by this property. Not a fan of the semi-private rooms that have one entrance and both beds in one room for a man who is still mobile. I assume women would handle this layout better.

Small. Only 3 detached houses, and the masters are too small for a Cal King. The patio looking at the Whitford ball field was nice. Baseboard heat and electric stove felt very apartment-y. No skilled nursing, so it's just food and basic activities, with an available bus. good food. Memory care available if you are already a resident. Across from Red Tail on Scholls Ferry

Had toured Layton Terrace in early Feb. I believe. My concern with Layton Terrace is their limited participation in Family Care and emphasis on personal financial responsibility, giving the impression that when you run out of money you're out the door. I was impressed with the facility but not high on my list because of the financial impression.

good location. Compared to the Beaverton location the rooms here have bathroom inside each apartment. RN has been w them for only 6 mo. Clean, quite. They charge 20% more than the BEav location for a private room. Also, I would have to arrange for any neccesary doctor apointment.

Not too impressed with layout of place - great room had about three stories to sap the heat and residents didn't look too happy. Mother would not fit in.
