They were great at the beginning. We moved not only because we needed more care, but also because of the way things were being handled. There were a lot of changes in management. The management was not good. We stayed because of the caregivers. For a while though the food was not good. There was an issue with cleanliness. I know they did bring in new management, but they were pulling people in and letting them know that people needed more care, and were letting them go left and right. I don't feel like it was handled very well.

Overall good. Seems understaffed on weekends and evenings. Also maintenance takes weeks, like burnt out lights or bathroom maintenance.

This facility is not very effective in care and housekeeping. They just pass the buck when it comes to cleaning and sanitizing. The toilet was stopped up almost daily. They would leave things and very hard to get resolved.. The people was friendly and the food was good.

Memory care unit is very dark and depressing. Also, it had a strong urine ordor. Assisted living section is nice but rooms are very small and dark with no window in living area.

I haven't been entirely happy with Orchard Park. Their staffing wasn't up to level when we first got there. They have since, added a few more staff, so they are working on it, but I still don't think it's enough. It's all hands on deck at meal times, and sometimes they even need to borrow from the front office, and there aren't enough people to watch the doors. I don't think my loved one gets checked on often enough. It's clean and looks nice, and they do offer activities, though it's not a very active community.

They are telling me they are going to do one thing, but they do another. They have been told that their regional supervisor told them something, but they still aren't doing the correct thing. Food wise, what they're telling me and what they're doing is different. Laundry services haven't been done in 2 weeks.

It's very expensive. It's clean, but for the price, I would expect it to be cleaner, with more attention paid to the bathroom floors. The rooms are minimally furnished, there isn't even a clock in the room. The building itself is nice and the people are nice. They have a couple of dining rooms, one for those who need more assistance, and one for those who need less. My loved one complains about the food, but eats everything including desert, and the food has always looked okay. They do have two nice big courtyards, that are secured and safe. I am concerned because there seems to be lack of communication when it comes to the medical needs and getting doctors to come out and see my loved one, and knowing what is going on with that. During the actual move our world was crazy and Vicki was great about helping me when I was having a tough time, and helping the move happen.

All the management has changed since we left there, things may be different now. We were pretty satisfied, before we had an incident, but afterward I saw that someone else had similar problems, so there may be a pattern. For memory care they didn't know how to handle a minor outburst of combative behavior, while keeping a resident safe. They also didn't keep my loved one very clean. I think the level of care left something to be desired.

The facility itself is well kept and clean, and in general the staff are very friendly. However, there are a few issues that we would really like to see fixed. The biggest one is that they are not providing the level of bathing assistance that they claimed before we moved our loved one in. We are having a hard time getting them to consistently provide the service. I would also like to see the employees encourage and help the residents participate in the various activities that they offer.

Very nice facility, small bedrooms, and nursing home smells, overall a nice facility.

Things at Orchard Park are going pretty well. I'm satisfied with the care they provide, friendliness of the staff, and cleanliness of the facility. Overall I'm pretty happy.

We toured this place. We were going to go here. They were really friendly. she directed me to a great home care agency. They were a really good value, but it was filthy. We brought family and they said there was no way we could choose this because it was so filthy.

Assisted living $3500 month

I can only speak for my experience in the memory care area of the Portage facility. Overall the care is good but in the Memory care area it seems as though more staff is needed for the special needs of the memory care residents . The staff is hurried a lot of the time. ( not allowing enough time for the residents to eat) I have also noticed frequently the lack of attention & interaction between Aides & residents. (residents sitting at a table doing nothing while the aide is on their cell phone, not being asked if they need to use the restroom frequently enough resulting in accidents) This is not always the case but depending on who is on staff that day it does happen frequently, Other concerns are: residents bed linens not being changed on a regular basis, & showering schedules not being kept also loss of linens , towels & clothing in the laundering process, even though all items are marked I also wish there was more communication about events that the memory care residents & or family members could participate in. I receive numerous emails from the Valparaiso Rittenhouse about memory care workshops, & resident events etc. but have yet to receive any information about similar activities at the Portage facility. As a whole The Portage facility is good but, could use some improvement, I believe a little attention to detail would improve the care given immensely.

The activities are really great. There could be more effort made to keep residents' things better organized so that you could be assured everyone had their own clothes in their drawers. The food could be better. The staff were very nice and helpful.

I visited this facility but chose a different one. The apartments are nice but the main hallways are not overly wide. It's a tall building with only two elevators so it takes awhile to go up or down. The pool is in an adjacent facility so it's a bit inconvenient but the biggest I saw in my search. The dining facility is probably better than most.

Other than a few issues settling in things have gone very well at Wynwood of Northville! The facility itself is very nice, clean, and the surroundings are pleasant. They've got a good variety of activities for the residents, and the food is very good! I also like the dining set-up, they've got several small dining areas as opposed to one large cafeteria. The biggest issues we've run into is that some of the staff can be slow to respond to requests, or will sometimes agree to help with something and then not complete that task.

The day to day cleanliness is pretty good, but there are some things that could use some attention, the carpets could be cleaned. They were very friendly when we were first looking, but once they got there they were kind of on their own. When they very first moved in, nobody came and greeted them, or introduced themselves, or even showed them around. They are able to have their pet there. They complain daily about the food. The big meal of the day is during lunch, and the dinner meal doesn't have much for choice. The entrance isn't very smooth for anyone with a walker. The apartment itself we liked a lot, the square footage is good, the actual living space is good. They have been slow getting back to them to have some help with things in the apartments.

Definite nursing home'feel'. Pricing unbelievable for what they offer No companion Fee. Each person pays full price.
