I like the friendliness and clean smell. They can improve on wait staff attitude and assistance for feeble elderly. Not very organized and not communicative

It was not a good fit for advanced dementia. They advertise it's for memory care however they should be more specific on appropriate levels of dementia . They push medication to basically make them zombies it just wasn't a good experience for us. Now they did now great activities (exercise class, puzzles, live music) my grandmother was more Intellectual, it seemed childish to her. The music wasn't her era, she was 90. They had a big turnover with key staff right as she got there so it wasn't very stable. That may have changed and be more stable now. There were amazing staff members who understood her disease, but they needed better training for dementia so they understood how the residents thought and saw things differently. Again this may have been implemented. But families have to advocate for loved ones make presence known and stay involved, be unpredictable with times days so staff doesn't know. Things we learned.

[name removed] was wonderful and warm as the marketing person. She could not have been kinder or available. However, once my brother was admitted, we were dealing with his not being diligently cared for plus exorbitant bills . My brother is incontinent, and the room reeked horribly, as soiled bedding was left on the floor. It seemed his diaper was not changed often enough, since he often woke up drenched or soiled in feces. That seemed to be the practice in Assisted Living because as you walked past the residents waiting to go into the dining area, it smelled so terribly. I must say that the Independent Living section was NOT that way. It seemed very clean. There was also no communication with the staff to provide updates. My brother did enjoy the food.

It is better than most in the area, the safety measures are very good, the looping hallways are an excellent idea for exercise and relief of anxiety, the support group could be improved with a different leader. I would suggest that a new admit would maybe benefit from a wife staying at night & perhaps sleeping in the same room if permitted. I wish I had done that even with cost.

This facility looks very good but there is more to good care than outside appearances. Nurse is overworked with giving medicine and wasn't able to do much patient care. Techs were nice and tried to accommodate the best they were able. My husband was only there 5 days and then I carried him to hospital where he stayed 3 weeks with dehydration and afib. I was not very pleased. Families need to visit every day to make sure loved ones are being cared for properly. I had to pay over 2 months rent for 5 days plus $[fee removed] activity fee. No adjustments. EXPENSIVE!

They were subpar overall. I was concerned about the lack of basic hygiene on a daily basis that was provided

We toured the facility before we moved mom in....the room we choose was being used as a storage unit for used briefs and extra supplies.....we asked them to prep the room before we signed the contract. When we got the keys to the unit....it had not been cleaned or prepped. So we cleaned it ourselves with some help from the director. Some of the residents got used to going into that room when it was empty....so we had random visitors until we locked the door. The agreement was at least every hour someone would be in to check on mom...that never happened. We had a few issues with some of the care takers.....to the point one was terminated. 2 of the ladies that we saw on a regular basis showed a lot of compassion for mom and we're very patient. Overall....if a person has the time to stay with their loved on a daily basis they would get ok care....you have to be an advocate for your loved one....most the staff are there for a paycheck. A very select few where there because they really care.

Be sure that if you are paying for additional services that you report/complain when something isn't done/not timely. Visit often to keep an eye on things. They need consistent staffing levels, need timely communication between admin and staff doing hands on care, need to be professional in dealings with patients and family, need consistent safety protocols to be followed at all times. Need honesty and transparency about care plans, compassion, and changes so nothing is missed.

Daily variety has been great and interesting people are very nice and very friendly the place has been kept me and clean. Most of the staff is very friendly and willing to help, also lets you sleep in as for of as you. Desire some of the meal are great but I think we need none of variety of meat. Difference ways also a variety of vegetable and salads.

The staff is attentive and friendly but they are going through a transition right now in leadership. The director had only been there for a month when my mom moved in and they let him go after another month. The new director just started last week.

They don't have enough staff to follow through with promises and then Mom fell through the cracks and wasn't fed We paid extra for her to be fed and it didn't happen Then you can't leave as there are no facilities in the community to take her We were not kept updated on her condition.

The staff is very nice, but the environment for the memory care residents is very loud. Every time a resident tries the doors, shrill alarms go off and it takes awhile for someone to stop it. It was very stressful for my husband, and even me, when I went to visit.

There dining room staff is pitiful. I've waited over an hour for a few breakfast and a dinner. I would not go back to a restaurant that treated me that way. Their transportation is mediocre, but they do have service on Saturday and Sunday.

The staff is mostly great, and some are totally fantastic; like many facilities, however, there simply aren't enough of them, and weekends and holidays tend to be very quiet. I wish there were more activities that were offered, and more that aimed higher in terms of intellectual interests and abilities. They are generally pretty basic. The dining room functionally groups all care levels together, though residents needing more care are generally at one end. It's definitely not enough separation for some, and my mother found the dining room to be very upsetting. The food is definitely a weak spot. The facility would benefit from having a living room- type area that residents could congregate in outside of their rooms. There is a courtyard, but it needs better maintenance, and is obviously weather dependent. Despite some deficiencies, Morningside offered very good value for a basic, clean facility, and most staff were very patient with my mother, who definitely required a lot of care.

Staff is great but totally under staffed Room is too small Laundry is hit or miss on being returned Meals are the same n limited. Refrigerator is to n small Cabinets are too high for my parents to reach My parents are not adjusting n need assistance to get them involved. Dinning hall at time does not allow guest to sit with my parents when eating

Be careful with the medication management by the facility. They were incompetent and my Dad ran out of his medication. They deemed him in capable so they could charge an extra $[removed] a month but he was the one that had to inform them of running out of his meds and tell them when he needed them. Once your family member is put on any type of level one or level two care is extremely difficult to get them move down once they make improvements. Calusa does not want to give up that extra fee. My father, who basically ate fast food and junk food, his whole life complained that the food was terrible and usually serve cold.

Well my mother in law has only been there for a couple of months she actually moving to another facility in about a week cause of the lack of help she's getting at this facility. Some staff are friendly, others aren't.

I believe that it is a major step down from senior living. I expected the culture to be more upbeat and many of the staff to be more active. Two of the staff of the same gender were very openly in tune with each other. It was disgustingly. The clientele had more of a tendency to be more disabled and needing more attention than the minority of the others.

When visiting the facility I felt very welcomed. Since I’ve moved my mom in I have mixed feelings. She in memory care and I’m not confident issues are followed up on. I reported a maintenance issue on [date removed] and it took 2 weeks and several follow ups to get it resolved.

1. There were many things not great, but she was safe, comfortable and pretty good care. 2. lobby and hall,etc always good but they had a hard time keeping staff to clean residents rooms. Many many times I cleaned my mom's room myself. Even bought a little vacuum to keep there. 3. the day staff were all great. At the end I ran into night staff that were so great to the point of grumpy bordering on rude 4. hard one - some staff care was great and some were just awful, especially night staff. At the end I would come in and her bed would be wet, depends not on right, not know the last time for meds. 5. hard to reach people some times cause they don't come in until 10. Lots of turnover. Billing is absolutely atrocious. I'd be curious to know how many people have been billed for things they don't need or services not used. I would find things billed wrong, but some people there didn't have someone looking out for them 6. - residents were always complaining. No flavor, veggies cooked to mush. One time they offered me a plate, and I couldn't even eat it. 7. - had some good ones when there was an activities person there. When she left it went to the dumpster 8. - I thought it was overpriced...we had 3 increases, one was 8%, in the time we were there. We were supposed to get a discount via abenity but never did. It took her soc sec, vet benefits and savings to be there and she didn't have any additional medical needs until the last month or so. Overall it was pretty good, we had a stretch where they were close to being staffed and had some good people. Fairly high turnover so things got dropped or stuff not done or lots of confusion. And oh ya, the hair dresser girl was way over priced for the services she provided....
