Much different than I expected, but overall good.

Food is innovative, but when chef is not there you can tell. Generally speaking it's a great place!

Good people - both residents and staff. Good food and activities.

Lived here almost 3 years. I enjoy the freedom, choice of how to spend my time. I can choose meals and activities.

Most of the staff members here are great - now they are experiencing staffing issues just like everyone else so some times different staff come throughout the week and that is where the communication can get a little lost

The Business office was top notch. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We picked this community because of reviews, and it was recommended by a hospital.

I have nothing but good things to say about The Gardens of Virginia Beach. The director of sales [name removed] is fantastic. I love her style of management and transparency, especially with the pricing. They have so much activity planned for the residents each day. I get emails of the events calendar and there is lots going on. They work with us as the family very well. It has been a perfect fit for my dad, he does great with the home like environment here. The staff have been very friendly. I would recommend The Gardens to others.

We are very pleased with the care of our loved one is receiving at Amberglen. The care givers are wonderful, the facility is clean and has a lot of natural light. My loved one really enjoys spending time in the courtyard.

Community was pleasant and welcoming. Nice staff for sure, plenty of activities. Most need for improvement would be the kitchen and meals offered. More often than not meals were altered for something other than advertised, and/or choices were VERY LIMITED. Or simply "ran out" of one thing to be replaced by something less appetizing. Also not much for special requests from the kitchen...

I would tell friends that it's one of the better places that I researched. They have many opportunities to improve with the top issues being communication within. It seems like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

They did a good job of presenting what they have to offer. They were very responsive to questions. They quickly fixed identified issues after move in. They were very welcoming. My loved ones seem happy there.

I would appreciate some kind of input as to how my loved one is adapting (or not) to the day to day routines. We live out of the state so don't get there often. I guess it's my responsibility to inquire. Also, they will be installing WIFI in the near future. It would be great to have a tech person in house to help residents set up their email or whatever. Even TV can be confusing for some, depending on which services they have. Staff and residents are open and friendly. Food is very good. Services are available if the person feels confident or is aware enough to ask. It would be nice to have some newbie tutorials or meetings with set topics. They do have meetings for new residents but the residents are responsible for bringing up the topics. I think if they're new, they may not know what they don't know. And maybe include a relative where possible. I should add that the residents are assigned a buddy (resident who has been there awhile). The resident was really sweet but my loved one was not very responsive. My loved one didn't want to move out of their home.

I toured this facility. It was larger than we were looking for.

Our loved one overall is relatively happy. The facility is clean. Her room could be a bit cleaner. For the most part, the staff are very friendly. Quality of care - No complaints. I think the food is fine. But it's been difficult getting them to give my mother a gluten-free diet. The dining room looks nice. And residents can sit wherever they want to. I think they are pretty standard. Average. They do try to get them moving, which is good. Bingo all the time, which my mother doesn't care for. She does like the live music that they have 2-3 times/week. It isn't a fancy place, but it is clean, cozy, and nice. It is a good size for her.

Our experience at The Pines has been wonderful. [Name removed] has been so helpful in transitioning my mother from another facility, finding the perfect room, and getting her settled. The staff and residents here are warm and thoughtful overall and my mom is beginning to feel at home. When we had an issue that needed dealing with, [name removed] acted immediately. The facility is very clean and has a fresh smell, which is often not the case with senior living facilities.

The assisted living facility is perfect. They're all short- handed. My loved one gets only two showers a week with the assistance of an aide. I'm not sure how clean they are. Lots of other similar issues but on balance, my loved one is now safe, eating & happier. The staff likes her & my loved one likes the staff. My loved one likes the food & loves the entertainment. The best thing about it is that despite my loved one has dementia, they felt they didn't need to be in memory care because my loved one is very social. They said with the proper level of care, my loved one may never need memory care.

We really like the size of Leisure Park, it is not a large community so the residents and our loved one are able to get more personalized attention. They were very accommodating during move in and let our loved one have an apartment on the ground level since she struggles with mobility at times, that was very helpful. Our loved one has one complaint and that is with the meals - they said the quality could be a little better but overall we would recommend this community to other families.

They have all done a great job, in all areas. Sometimes they are short staffed. My loved ones love the food, and have not been dissapointed. They have a lot of activites. They are going through a huge remodeling project, and it looks beautiful. We picked this community because, it was affordable, and within budget. It was a casual and relaxed atomosphere. I would recommend to other families. I would highly recommend A Place for Mom as a resource.

Winterberry Heights seemed like a good place. The dining room was beautiful. The rooms were good, although a little small. Overall, the vibe was very good. Our loved one's care needs decreased after we started looking, so we ended up in independent living at a different community since assisted living - understandably - is more expensive.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The value for the money is good. The staff communication with the family was great. Some of the care offered by the community includes medication management, dressing and bathing assistance, and hygiene care. The staff were very passionate about the community and care for the residents.
