The reason they didn't rate a 5 is due to the lack of attention to dental hygiene. I would recommend to others.

With what I now know after about a year experience with Ponderosa, I would have no hesitation to placing my parent in the facility. A few things I really liked most about Ponderosa is the staff, the cafeteria and the cleanliness.

The Gardens of Virginia Beach was a great place for Mom when she was healthy. The staff was great but as soon as Mom needed extra attention and medicine for pain, she needed to move.

We used the facility for 2 weeks of respite care. We liked that we could join Mom for lunch or dinner in the facility at a nominal cost.

Staff is friendly. Admin was very helpful during move in process. Building is clean. We have been very happy with Leisure Park.

They were very helpful. I would recommend the Birchwoods at Canco.

The staff is great at the Arboretum. We did have an issue when we first moved in there last year. Her room was not ready and meaning that the walls weren't painted and the holes weren't plugged and the carpet wasn't cleaned and it was just dirty. They never did anything about it, and they just kinda kept deflecting to the fact that it kind of fell through the cracks and that was basically it and also that they were shorthanded. So my mom actually had to move in because we had no choice and we thought they would do something like come in, fix the holes in the wall or paint or something and they didn't do anything. But since she's been there for a year now, she's made a lot of friends and she does enjoy being there and we don't have any intention of moving her any place else at this moment.

My only point of reference is that my mom is considerably more happy than when she was at the other facility. Loves the food, staff and it was still close to our house.

Seems to be a lot of administrative turnover over but staff seems to be friendly. Seems clean. Our relative has early dementia so some of what she says is not true but from what we see all seems good.

Overall the administration & staff seem to be responsive & helpful. The desk staff, Director, Sales Manager & Maintenance lead were all very cooperative & accommodating with requests & assistance during our move-in phase. The common areas at the Pines are pleasant & have been freshened & upgraded over the years, and the flooring in the resident rooms looks fairly new. But the bathroom is small has not been renovated. The small private rooms at the Pines are very tight on space, although we are grateful that Mom has her own space. that the food quality & dining service can definitely use improvement.

Take so long to address concerns in some instances! most are helpful

Normally a great facility with caring staff. Keeps them busy and active. Weekends and after hours they are sometimes short staffed which causes difficulties in getting in and out. The food is good and snacks are always available.

This is a very nice community. The staff are very pleasant and easy to work with.

I think it's a pretty good place. The activities director is great. The staff is very kind to the residents and there is an excellent nurse practitioner who comes by often. They are making changes in their meal schedule but I think that is working out.

The friendliness of [name removed] and the rest of the administrators is excellent. Very helpful. I think there could be better and more activities for the assisted-living side. It seems like they do more for the independent living people. my dad says the food is very good. Quality of care I would say is just OK. I would say it's middle of the road in terms of expense. There are a lot of places out there. Some places are higher and maybe a few are a little lower.

Really like the staff and the amount of them always around. It's been an overall great place for mom. Definitely choose them over memory care places like Hollybrook.

Very pleasant people and surroundings; I feel safe. Maintenance is very pleasant but I think understaffed…..food and atmosphere very good! It would be nice if breakfast was served; even if just the weekend! Soups are excellent!

They place is REALLY nice and clean. The people are great with my mother (and she's a handful!) Easy for her friends to come and see her. She has her own room and it is big. She shares a bathroom with one other lady and goes to activities that they have on the assisted living side besides on her side in memory care. They will come get her to take her to assisted living. She is considered "high functioning " alzheimer's. Over all very very happy.

The people are friendly. Activities are great, they have transportation to stores and nail salon - very good. Dining room and the way they seat you is horrible, the food is very very inconsistent if your loved one is picky or a tough sell on eating forget it she will not eat. They are way understaffed especially the kitchen; my sister is looking to leave after her lease is up she would rather pay someone to come in daily and help her cook and run errands.
