Staff is friendly. There are varied activities daily on a fairly regular schedule. They also have special events a couple of times a month. I can't comment on the food as I do not use their dining facility but the posted menu looks good with at least two options at each meal. They serve lunch and dinner.

Amber Glen was extremely helpful and accommodating when we had to move my mother quickly out of one facility and into Amber Glen. They were very caring. One problem that I ran into was when it came time to coordinate hospice care and the care Amber Glen provided. Both agencies explained it well, but it did not always go smoothly for those weeks it was in place.

Activities, food, dining were all fantastic. And all the staff was amazing and they were so good to Mom, until May when they brought in a new executive director. Her name was [name removed]. She was horrible to the staff and didn't care about the residents. All she cared about was nickel and diming my mother along with other residents. The staff started putting in reports about her and one day she just didn't show up. Shes gone now but please beware of her name. She should not be working with seniors. She is not a nice person. I would also like to note that the nursing director, [name removed], is FABULOUS!! She was so good to Mom and visited her in the hospital, took her things she needed and even took her dog up to visit her

Transportation is an issue. The only have one driver. And shot the bus transportation service ends at 4 o'clock. There is no transportation on the weekend. It is a nice facility overall. In a good location. The staff seem to be very friendly and very nice. Very accommodating to the unique needs or concerns of aging population.

Head nurse,[name removed] was great, but she has left now. [name removed] at the front desk always has a friendly smile and kind words as people enter.

The staff are very caring and attentive to the residents. Orchard Park was going through staff changes when our family members initially went in. We had a lot of concerns at that time. There was no memory care director and no one seemed to be in charge. The facility seems to be more adequately staffed now. The Memory Care Director, [name removed], is quick to respond, accessible and friendly. [name removed]and the med techs have also been very helpful.

[name removed] is very knowledgeable about Alzheimers's and helped us make our decision to come to Cedar Ridge. [name removed] is also very efficient and helpful. Program Director [name removed] is very energetic and keeps the residents very engaged.

Staff was extremely caring and helpful and responsive to requests. My brother didn't really take advantage of activities. Not sure about dining. My brother thought some meals were good, disappointed on other meals. Overall, good portions and options.

Staff was very helpful; Activities were good and engaging; Food was inconsistent (some days very good, some days not so good) Facilities were clean, but a little outdated.

The staff really seems to care about the residents and I specifically chose this facility because they have constant activities for the residents to keep them engaged and stimulated compared to the other facilities I toured.

He's really happy there. Sometimes the communication could be better. The apartment sizes and meals are great!

She loved it there. She was there for 6 days, got involved in activities (flower decoration), made friends, got the flu, fell and broke her femur and is now in skilled nursing at [community removed] after long, complicated recovery. We all wished she could have returned to Birchwood. It was a warm and friendly community. She felt at home almost immediately. She became active and involved right away.

Our experience with a Place for Mom has been better than I expected for sure. We are happy with Olympics West as the choice for my mom's assisted living solution. They have tons of activities which she really loves. Her room is spacious and clean and the staff are good with her needs for the most part. There have been a few hiccups but we've found resolution

The staff in general are very good. There is a lot of turnover, but certain staff members make an effort to provide attentive care when they are on shift. The meals can sometimes be unsatisfactory-cold, overcooked, or too salty. While dietary restrictions aren't specifically accommodated, there are alternative meal options available if the main dish isn't appealing. There have been some issues with medication management that require ongoing attention. At one point, there was excellent coordination between staff and a hospice team, which stood out as a positive experience. There have also been instances where pain management and assistance with basic needs, like bathroom support, were delayed, leading to the need for additional accommodations.

There never seems to be enough staff to care for all of the residents. On a recent visit my mother needed to use the restroom. She pressed her button and we continued to visit. It was at least 15 minutes and no staff member came. She pushed her button again with the same results. I finally saw a staff member (the first one I had seen) and asked for assistance. In all that time I witnessed not a single other staff member pass by. Our visit was in the downstairs area where I could see if anyone who passed by. My mother was very uncomfortable both physically and mentally and I saw no one at all. It was during the week and the front desk was vacant the entire time we were there. The residents that reside here deserve more than that. They don't want to be there in the first place. Then to wait so long to have help strips them further of their dignity. Our elderly deserve more during their last days when they can no longer be cared for in their homes. I am a retired nurse who worked in such a facility. The work is hard, the pay is meager and the staff turnover is very high. Not many people want to work somewhere that pays little more than minimum wage and is chronically understaffed. Unfortunately it is the administration at a much higher level that makes the decisions. I'm certain that if they had a parent in an assistant living facility they would expect greater care for them. The decision makers never step a foot inside one it appears. The for profit nature of these places is of an increase in wages the higher the person is administratively. In actuality the staff who work harder caring for the residents deserve more than that. The staff that are there generally appear to be very pleasant and helpful when you can find one. This is the reality of the situation.

My mother moved into an independent living apartment within Leisure Park. My rating for this dwelling would be 4 out of 5. They did recently increase the price of her food by virtue of now charging a fee for each meal that has to be packed "to-go". They used to only charge if they had to deliver the meal, but now they are charging 5.00 every time my mother's aide goes and picks it up. She doesn't want to go down to the dining room to eat.

The reason they didn't rate a 5 is due to the lack of attention to dental hygiene. I would recommend to others.

With what I now know after about a year experience with Ponderosa, I would have no hesitation to placing my parent in the facility. A few things I really liked most about Ponderosa is the staff, the cafeteria and the cleanliness.

The Gardens of Virginia Beach was a great place for Mom when she was healthy. The staff was great but as soon as Mom needed extra attention and medicine for pain, she needed to move.

We used the facility for 2 weeks of respite care. We liked that we could join Mom for lunch or dinner in the facility at a nominal cost.
