It was great, however we had to move my mother after a point. Unfortunately, she needed a long term care facility. Both of my parents were actually at Sterling House, and it was a great facility. They were very accommodating to them. We really like it because my mom was falling a lot, and they were great at communicating with us about it. The staff loved my dad! When my mom moved out, my dad did too. Sterling House had really a lower functioning level of residents. More Alzheimer's and mental illness, and my dad wasn't like that.

I visited several facilities in my search for a memory care center for my mother. All of them had a calendar of events and activities they shared with me. But when I did drop in visits, Wynwood was only one of two that actually did what was listed on their calendar. The other facility did not accept Medicaid. What I found at Wynwood helped me to place my mother there and feel comfortable that I was making the right decision. The staff is loving and capable. The food is outstanding. The living quarters are superior to any others that I saw. The types of activities (music, crafts, outdoor trips, etc.) offer more stimulation and encourage participation. For the first time in years I can relax knowing that mom is safe. I don't have to worry about her taking her meds properly. I know that I made the right decision for her and for myself.

Very nice people. It was very small, but we liked the room. They were awesome. The fed us lunch, talked and showed us memory care unit. The staff interacted with my father right away.

With the help and guidance of My Mom's Place, we helped my 85 year old brother move to Library Square one year ago. Since then he has become a new person. The staff there has been over the top helpful to him and us (we email them if we think he needs help with anything as we live in another state). He has made new friends and taken part in activities there. We consider it a wonderful place for seniors and could live there ourselves. The cost (below) varies by which amenities are chosen.

My mother feels very comfortable and cared for here. The staff is very nice and caring. Everyone understands dementia and is very considerate of the resident. This is a warm, caring community where my mother has "come out of her shell". It is low key, but has activities going on for the residents.

Susan Atoni-Bixler made me feel welcome and went above and beyond to provide me with a view of clean, well staged apartments. Spacious with gourmet culinary breakfast and dinner. Full sized appliances, walk in closets and handicapped equipped bathrooms. One of my top 3.

Arthur Rochon conducted the tour of this property. Although it does not include the full scale amenities offered by the aforementioned properties, given my level of independence and the moving cost from California to Virginia, it appears to be the best fit for me to accomplish my goal for the short term.

My dad's very messy and they don't clean as often as I think they should, it may not be their fault and I know when he was living in my house his room had to be cleaned every day. The staff is wonderful, one time I was coming down the hallway and they didn't know I was there and there was a bunch of them getting ready to go on a trip and one lady in a wheelchair reached out and touched a nurse who was walking by. The lady turned around and started talking to her and then put her arms around her and was hugging and kind of dancing with her. She didn't do it because anyone was watching and they really care. My dad is a smoker and they caught him smoking in the building, he can't be in control of his cigarettes, so they keep them on the med cart and dole them out to him so they're very accomodating.

I'm just going on the part my wife is in. It's very clean what I have been in. I've been in the games room and that's clean. I think the cost is fairly reasonable with what the other places I've checked out. We have a fixed amount. The only extra thing I pay for is the medication management. Other than it's about the same price as the others so overall it's not too bad. The activities, they say they do as much as the can. My wife has dementia so it's hard to nail down which activities they're actually having without being there all the time. If they don't want to do it they don't force them to do it. I'd like to see a bit more in the exercise section. They really needed exercises every day, I think. It really depend on the people I guess but in my wife's case she could do exercises. I like that they use a lot of their own produce in their kitchens from their vegetable garden. Where my wife is, is quite good. It's very good in fact.

I really liked this facility and would move mother here if that is where she would like to be but it is alittle far from home.

It's kept extra clean from what I can see and the staff is wonderful. They know every residents name, they know their room number, they know their preferences, they are very, very personable, helpful and I can't say enough about them. I can't comment on the activities because my mom is a loner, I think she has gone on a couple of bus tours and enjoyed that and done yoga, but other than that she doesn't participate much. She says she likes it very much, better than where she was before and she's definitely eating better. Another wonderful thing about Myrtle Beach is even though it's in sort of a metropolitan area, there's all grass and trees when you look out the windows and you don't see any of the other buildings. She used to complain about all these ills and pains and I have not heard her complain once since she's been here.

Lovely place, would highly recommend it. We are jus studying all our options before a decision is made.

We found the property very nice, the room excellant, the staff we interfaced with very attentive to our parents needs and responsive to our requests. Our folks have been at the residence for just over a week and seem happy. The report is the foodi= is excellent and the care is very good.

My dad is a friendly, cordial 86 year old. We were afraid that senior housing would snuff the spark from him. We were wrong....he has gained some much needed weight and is relieved to have healthcare providers in case he needs them.

It's awesome, no nursing home smell so that was the first thing I noticed when I walked in there, they're very friendly. After checking other places I feel I'm getting a very good value, the care is great, it's very comforting to have her there because you still worry but they're watching after her like she's their own mother. I just like the set up and the way the rooms were set up, it was kind of all inclusive for any level of care, a lot of the other ones increase as the level of care increases so this worked much better. They have an education follow-up with everyone, once a month they host a support group for alzheimers at their facility, like the 3rd or 4th thursday once a month, they do a speaker and a dinner at night for the people like me who have people there. There's a lot of educational type things so you can learn about dementia/alzheimers and what stage they're at. They're all great people there and I really can't say enough good about them.

I should say at the outset that she only stayed there 10 days, she was just not ready to go to an assisted lviing and just did not want to be there, but my experience with Wynwood was wonderful. The staff there was very good about encouraging her to get out and mingle and eat which she refused to do but they were very patient with her and giving her suggestions and they were very helpful to us, they gave us as many options as they could. My moms probably was that she left the facility about 4 times and she was the one that demanded to leave to go home, but I think now she's realizing she doesn't want to be there either. I thought the cost was reasonable to the benefits, the meals were excellent and even the residents tried to take her under their wings which she didn't want but the residents were very friendly and they were very happy to be there. I've told my kids, if I ever get dementia, send me here!

My mom is there. She likes the people, she likes the food, she's generally happy. She doesn't really do any of the activities...she plays bridge.

We were a little upset about how many times he feel, we thought especially since the first night he was there he fell out of bed and broke his hip, we thought someone should be watching him because he didn't know where he was; so that was kind of unnerving. They were wonderful people, we were just really impressed with the way they interacted with the people. There were little things that could have been better with connecting up with local people, but we understood privacy issues, it was okay, just glad it's over. We did like Wellstead, it was very nice, I would say 99.99 positive because of the people. It's a beautiful place, it's gorgeous, and he liked it there

This seems to meet all of our needs! Hoping to move in late fall.
