People are Great

I have been here one month. Residents and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is good and there is a large choice of items. 2 meals, continental breakfast and one other come with monthly rent. It would be nice if breakfast was served a little later(cutoff is 9 am) for late sleepers. Also could use a bit more variety in breakfast menu. Exercise programs are varied and I like several of them and do try to attend. There are not many evening or weekend activities. Could be improved. Also need variations in non-exercise activities.

One of the main things, being that it's a brand new property, they don't even have office hours and to me that would seem like the time to have some. The main doors close at 8 pm and you can't get in unless you put in the number, and it's just a little hard to get use to. It's safe in that respect, its just hard to get things to her when we need too. It's a new property, so i'm sure there's a lot of kinks to work out, it just hasn't been as smooth a transition as we hoped. But my mother likes all her the residents she has met so far.

Food has lost its savour

The meals have gone downhill. This is a very important feature for senior citizens. Presentation is very good, but I find myself eating less and less when visiting my mom. They have the same chef, so that's not apparently the problem. I think they may be using a lot of frozen vegetables and overcooking them. There should also always be an alternate entree, other than chicken. I'm wondering if it's all pre-packaged food, which it wasn't before. The residents are not happy, and the food is what originally brought most of them here, according to them. Mom is now in a 2BR, and receiving a lot fewer services and amenities than were pointed out to us as included with each apartment at no extra charge. I'm beginning to wonder, but it is a nice facility.

An Active/At Home Feel with Onsite Care Givers Available

We love the "at home" feel of Rocky Ridge & the people who live there are friendly & welcoming. Their "aging in place" policy made it a viable consideration for my dad who's health is failing. At Rocky Ridge he can be surrounded by people who are active & alert, while he still receives the assistance he needs from one of their onsite care providers (not affiliated with Rocky Ridge). We chose "Angel of Mercy" & he really enjoys the men from this company who help him with his meds/mobility issues. They make Rocky Ridge a good choice for him. Note: the sales staff was poorly informed (which was frustrating), and the management staff are all fairly new, but we chose the location because the residents were friendly and welcoming and felt like people my dad could be friends with. On the downside, his apartment wasn't ready as early as we were promised, he's been there two months and they still haven't taken his picture for the veterans wall, and he still doesn't have his name tag - small issues in the grand scheme of things, but if you tend toward micro-management, the lack of follow-through could be irritating. All in all, Rocky Ridge has a "feel" of home, not a hotel, resort or nursing home. They have activities for residents often - some of them resident driven (music, dancing, crafts, bingo, games, etc) & the atrium has a grand piano, bird aviary & comfy chairs. You can often find groups of people, rolling walkers & scooters in the atrium & on the front porch at the right time of day. Meals are served in the dining room just off the atrium & their service is fairly slow paced - a bonus for my Dad, since that ensures he's really with people for a good amount of time every day. (It might be too slow for others - I just think the pace works well for [removed] We visited mostly assisted living sites in the Birmingham area - some of which we also liked - but this independent living facility had a mix of residents who are active, sharp & enjoyable, along with the extra help he needs available onsite. A win/win. (Note: The price quoted with this review is for a one-bedroom apartment, but they have a range of units in this facility. Two onsite companies of care givers are available to hire independently for an additional fee, depending on your needs.)

Clean and Bright

Put my stepdad there about nine months ago. He is in a shared room. The place is clean, the staff tries. Doesn't smell. The food is good. But as with most facilities of this type, there are always issues. Clothes lost, etc. There is quite a lot of turnover with employees there as I suspect most of these places. He has settled in fairly well. I will say for being a level one client that doesn't need much help, except with meds (as all are required to do) it serves the purpose. I was not pleased that they raised the rates $150 a month in the nine months since we put him there. One more thing I would think would be nice is if they had therapy dogs brought in. I was told they had them, but to my knowledge it's never happened. I think the people would love that.

good, but a few things they can work on

They are really good about getting to know everybody (clients and family) and are very friendly. It did take about 6 weeks to get the cable worked out, and I ended up having to contact the cable provider myself. We still haven't worked out the wifi situation (my dad is pretty technical for an older guy and wants wifi). The food is either really good or really bad. Simple foods like chicken are ok, but Mexican dinners, chili, Reuben sandwiches, etc., are not that good. I wish the cleaning of his room was a little more thorough.

I am not local so I don't get the chance to visit my dad as often as my mom does so most of my comunications is feed back from her, she is also responsible for paying the bills. When we admitted my dad in July there was a 10% discount offered to vets that we were able to take advantage of making his monthly fee $4455. After the first month his monthly fee went up to just over $5000 because they said that his incontence justified an extra charge, so much for that 10% discount. Although it states in the contract that they can do this, we told them he had this problem when we admitted him. Then other charges started showing up on the bill and when the billing department was questioned about them they couldn't explane them so they were deleated. I guess what I would suggest to anyone admitting a loved one into any facility is to make frequent visits and make the staff realize that you are keeping an eye on whats going on or else your loved ones may not get the kind of care you expect..

A very clean and pleasant facility. Staff is both friendly and caring. Cost may be an issue for some potential clients.

Overall we have had a good experience. The monthly rent appears to be a little higher than some others, but that is out weighed by the convenience factor for the family. The staff is very friendly and generally very willing to help. It is nice to feel that Mom is in a safe environment and ever watchful eyes looking out for her when we are not around. A good experience so far.

Nice place, overall

We've been generally pleased with service at Adante San Antonio. The facility itself is a nice, clean building, and the accommodations for the residents all seem nice as well. They also do a good job with the food.

Did not have a good experience

We did not have a good experience here at all. The facility itself is very nice, the apartments are a good size, and they keep everything clean and well kept. However, one of the administrative staff has been very unpleasant to deal with. I felt like he told us what we wanted to hear before we moved in, and then after our loved one was moved in he became very rude and unprofessional. There have also been issues with the caregivers being inattentive, and the meals having very small portions.

They're good.

They’re good. They’re just expensive. It’s a very nice place. It’s a worthwhile while. It’s just it’s on the higher end of the spectrum on price. The food is excellent. There were some concerns with the laundry. There’s always been enough parking.

Good place for elderly mom with some opportunities to improve

US Memory Care Colleyville is a nice place. People are extremely friendly. The different wings makes it comfortable and spacious. The rooms are nice and the place does not feel crowded. My mom feels safe and secure. The staff takes good care of her by administering her medication, providing 3 good meals per day and striving to get her involved in activities. In general, these types of assisted living locations are not cheap. For the fee, I would prefer to see more variety in the meals (and some better meals). I would also like to see more "brain" activities by using iPads or PCs to stimulate their memory. I think puzzles and throwing the ball around are good, but does not challenge everyone in the location. Finally, although the staff care takers are extremely nice and friendly, there's a perception that most of their work is "baby sitting". Sometimes, they are just sitting around on the couch with the residents. I would suggest that those are times to segregate the group and spend time on "brain" exercises or other activities with some of the residents. Overall, I'm pleased. Still, there's always some room for improvement to enhance the value of the experience.

Too Huge

It was OK, passed the smell test when you went in and for the most part the people did him OK. There's not a whole lot they had to do, but some of the staff was iffy. My dad walked out of the place twice and the called me to tell me that he couldn't stay - I didn't think that was a good way to do that. The place was too huge and I didn't feel like he got the care that he needed. It was literally right on my way home from work and they were very prompt with paperwork so I was a little disappointed that they said he had to leave.

Nice Apartment Layout

There seems to have been a lot of turnover in staff, and in particular they hired a new director and lost someone that was pretty key to things getting done. It doesn't seem to be as well run as I initially thought it would be. Other than that, the staff is kind and friendly. I think it is a pretty good location. I like that the apartment that my mother has is a nice size an pretty nicely laid out; it has a balcony and a kitchen.
