I visited and brought my uncle along. I also stopped by with my parents late afternoon today after leaving Lakestone. We are leaning towards Lakestone because of lower cost. Once dad needs to move to assisted, then they would move out of Lakestone. Again I see a drawback in the 45-min drive that I had not realized on my previous visit.

Visited with my parents today. They liked it and to my surprise, mom said once we switch them to an insurance plan that covers them in this area, she is ready to move. Friday I'll make calls to find them a great Medicare plan. My only concern now is distance. I want to explore other options closer than 45 minutes it takes me to Granbury.

The care is good. Mother is just settling in and they do activities but they're not quite up to here level. When she went to the book hour they were reading Rapunzel to the residents. Mother reads more challenging literature and hasn't been able to fine something as intellectually stimulating as she would like. We chose them because of the extended care option. If she runs out of money she goes on to Medicaid and they will keep you on through different levels of care. Another thing they could improve is the food. Mother says they have very good quality food they just simply aren't very good cooks. Again, this is something that she is good at so anything less is disappointing for her.

Moved my father into Mirabella in Sept 2013 from La. He has made many friends and has gotten involved in several activities at and thru Mirabella. His apartment is very spacious and light flows in thru the windows. Bathroom is handicap assessible which is a requirment for us. All the staff are so loving and helpful and check in on my father several times a day. His doctor can even make house calls if he needs something. Food is wonderful and kitchen staff very friendly and willing to take suggestions. We are able to visit anytime always feeling very welcome. Great place for assisted living or independent living in Ft Wortrh

It turned out that it wasn't a good fit for my grandmother but that's not necessarily through any fault of Parkwood Meadows. She was not eating and all the meals are provided so we were paying for that. She was not taking her medicine either. We are in the process of moving her but it's not because we didn't like the place it. She just needs more care. Everybody was really nice there and we liked the place.

It was nice, but it wasn't the same as the one we ended up choosing. It had a different layout and grounds. It was newer, and it didn't have any outside grounds. We have a little dog, and there wouldn't have been a good place to walk him. It was good food, the director was fine and the people were very nice. We hated that we stayed here for a week and then decided to choose a different community. We chose another Holiday though, and the people were very gracious about it.

Upon touring everything was clean and beautiful. All the personnel were extremely friendly and helpful. The only issue was trying to transfer there from a SNF. The communication was very poor. This is probably from both sides--but it was exceptionally frustrating.

This is another beautiful facility but it's also very large. It's like four floors and mom wouldn't have been able to get around very well.

It's fine. We're probably going to have to move my mother again sooner than later just because it's costing too much money for her not to participate in any of their events and activities. All in all, Harbor Chase is good. It was closer to us than some of the other places we considered and I would say that the social status of the residents there is a little higher. My mother didn't care about that but it is something I noticed. We are going to have to move her, which is a negative.

Very nice facility. Non-smoking. A little on the high side.

It's got a bunch of hallways and elevators and he seems to get confused more often. They're good to him, I don't have any problems with them. They're actually very, very good, it's just the layout for him that makes him not leave his room as much but the care is very, very good. They're encouraging him to get out of his room and we have a therapy dog coming twice a month so that's helping.

Did tour facility and did get opportunity to look at new Memory wing. Did not care for new section as bathroom is shared. Feel he is not ready for memory wing, but needs asst living. This may be possibility when that time arrives.

Little activity in common rooms at 2:30 pm on a Sunday. Very nice rooms small closets lovely courtyards, dining room, and entry. Transportation to dr appt within 10 mi radius. You do your personal laundry in laundry room. Three meals per day and you can go order a meal if you miss regular mealtime. Cleaning once per week.

My Dad has lived at the Renaissance for only a couple of weeks. The staff and residents are VERY kind and welcoming. Common areas are clean and inviting. The food is pretty good most days and residents are welcomed to eat as much as they want. So far so good.

Very nice. A bit pricey but we'll just have to determine what we'd like to spend.

The food's not very good. I think they're breaking in a new cook. They've had a lot of complaints and they're trying to do something about it. I guess we didn't get here at the right time. I think the value is excellent. The cost of Heritage Place was way cheaper than any other comparable place. It's a beautiful place and well kept. We're very pleased with it. Everything that we've dealt with has been pretty good. The company that does the medications is a completely different company that comes in and does that. We've had a few problems. I guess that's normal but they've been ironed out.

They're really good, I guess I just have a couple of issues. I think, just as a new person, I don't know how to go about asking them questions. I hate to just stop and bother the head nurse or the nurses and ask questions so I think if they had more of a procedure about going about that. They always make me feel comfortable when I stop somebody and ask but I think just better communication with how to go about asking them questions. I was her primary care giver and I think it's just me giving it up and letting them take care of her. i don't know when to get more involved, if I should or just let them take control...just all those questions, it would be nice to maybe even have a sit down, follow up meeting to be on the same page. She has done excellent, we anticipated some issues had we haven't had any at all, I think the people are taking really good care of her.

It's pretty expensive but they have something going on every day just about all day, they have a fairly good variety. i just thought it would fit my mom and dad, they're not ready for a nursing home, they need not 24/7 care but just a little bit of extra care. it took alot of work off of us cause we just couldn't hardly do our life and keep them too, it was hard. things have been going really really really good, mothers loved it, my dad didn't want to move in, he keeps saying he doesn't like it but he really does, he just wont ever admit it. were really really happy with cowhorn, they're just great folks.

My mom seems much calmer, she was in another home for 2 years and because this is a totally Alzheimer's unit she's much calmer and she's always very clean. When I go there, I've eaten with her here and the food seems okay, the fact that she can go outside to a little garden area and not beep because of security, that's a good thing. I've had a little bit of trouble with them with filling with insurance, we didn't have that problem before, and it isn't resolved yet but I'm not really sure if the problem is insurance or emeritus. My mom is difficult ot engage (let's put it that way), but I got a little eltter that she had participated in balloon tennis and she had gone on an outing. The doctor that works with emeritus, Dr. Chitwood, I absolutely LOVE her!
