In comparison to other memory care facilities, it is much better mainly due to the size of the facility and that it's design is geared towards memory care 100%.This is somewhat offset by the reasonable costs. A bit of a mixed bag really.In comparison to other retirement facilities it's very mediocre and suffers from high turnover amongst the staff and management. Additionally communication can be opaque at times.

Severely under staffed.

Arden Courts is a clean, friendly atmosphere with no smells often associated with care facilities. The outside walking facilities are cracked Sidewalks, rocks on sidewalks and many tripping and falling hazards. Some of the staff is wonderful and caring, but on weekends, holidays, etc the care can fall to terrible. Medlate trash build up in rooms and showers missed due to limited staff. Meals offer limited variety, limited flavor and repeat sometimes every other day. If you dislike what is served you will probably not be offerred any- thing else. Activites offer little variety for varying levels of cognitive abilities. Activities is often in front a screen with a wheelchair in front of you & someone reading off screen you can't hear.

The facility is old. It does not have a good smell and I had to clean my husband's room 10 times before the water came clean and I clean it myself. The rooms are definitely not clean. The staff is wonderful. Everybody on their staff is absolutely amazing.

Residents should not have things of value in their rooms, they tend to go missing. Every penny in Mom's purse disappeared, two watches and several other small items. More attention is needed in bathrooms especially it commodes. Table in dining room need wiped off after each meal.

The facility is beautiful. The activities are great. My mother did not get the assistance she needed. The staff were not patient or helpful enough. They were always short staffed... I moved my mother out because the price increased astronomically with only 3 months notice. My mom is not wealthy. I would only recommend this assisted living facility if you are able to afford them.

The staff was friendly and helpful for the most part. The main problem was staff turn-over. In the 6 weeks my wife was there there was at least one change in the nursing staff, a new facility manager and several new caregivers. I understand this is a common problem in all of these types of facilities. The only complaint was I was told my wife would be accepted as a hospice patient by the temporary nurse that did the home evaluation prior to being admitted. This did not happen, and I had a difficult time getting an answer on that. After about 3 weeks, I was told they had sent the hospice request paperwork to her PCP but had not received a reply. The PCP informed me the paperwork was returned the previous week. It was not until she had to be hospitalized a week or so later that the attending physician at the hospital finally got the hospice coverage going. I think the long delay was likely due to all the personnel turn-over with paperwork or other things getting lost or piled up with a lot of other tasks. Except for the delayed hospice care, the daily caregivers were great. I would likely recommend Arden Courts to others as I think, despite the hospice mix up, it is a good place.

[name removed] is great but is fighting an uphill battle there. They need an online portal for billing and communications. They also need to communicate more on issues, the only time i got a call was when he fell, a basic cya no other times unless i called Liam did i get attention. Clothing and bedding were continually missing. They promised outings but none were ever scheduled. I saw them all the time caring for those who needed it and seemed to have a good relationship with the tenants. Mt dad didnt need the level of care here and so its not the best place for him now.

We were told by the facility hospice could come in with him and be an extra set of hands after he had RSV. We were told this did not have to mean end of life care. As soon as hospice started it was like they gave up on him. They stopped wanting to feed him, drugged him up, stopped wanting to help him out of bed to use the rest room and eat. They sat there as we watched him die. It was awful and heartbreaking since he had done so well. We feel like we were miss led and failed him.

The staff was great. Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was good quality. The facility was extremely clean. I would recommend this facility to others.

The staff is very kind and my dad is treated with respect and love. They're just very disorganized. It's hard to get a call back and I was never told when he ran out of medications or a change was made to his care plan.

We have found Arden Court to be pretty similar to most others. We had heard great things about them prior to placing our loved one there. As is the case almost every place, the sales team makes promises that the workers do not keep. Overall, I would say they are simply average, mainly due to the daily care staff. 90% appear to be there strictly for a paycheck. They lack compassion or empathy for patients. Many sit at tables on their phones. We question whether room checks are done hourly. There are other times we have found the rooms a mess. Again, after reading reviews of other facilities, this seems to be a common theme. There are a few staff members who go above and beyond but they are the few. The meals fluctuate between pretty good to below average. Limited variety provided. They claim they always have stand by items but that is not the case.

- What techniques are used to redirect behavior outbursts? - How much does medication come into play when managing behavior? - when behavioral issues occur, how is this handled to keep other residents calm? - what is the policy for alerting you to emergency bs non emergency situations? (Timing) - if a resident needs emergency care, or rehab, how are they notified/kept in the loop of progress?

overall we like the room value at Springhouse of Pikesville and the amenities are nice. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

They need more qualified help in care givers with better follow through on hygiene and activity planning. They need to do a better job in keeping rooms clean-mainly personal washrooms and floors in bedrooms.

The place is very welcoming, and the workers are better than most of the other places I have seen. They could improve with watching the residents much more and provide better care. The girls not only have to watch the residents and also do their laundry. Too many times I have had to discuss the care of my family member not being taken care of like her teeth are not in for meals, sheets need to be changed, and the room in disarray. They just increased their prices and I have seen reduced care. Overall I feel the medical field in general is not up to the standards as they should be.

Biggest problem with Arden Courts in Sterling Heights, in my opinion, is the Director. She is not empathetic or supportive and does not listen. But many of the other staff are very good. The facility is excellent, especially the outdoor access. And the recruitment person, [name removed], is also excellent and very helpful. If outdoor access is a priority, there are no other good options.

OK I would like to see more people and outside activities I’ve gone to for meetings for the bocce ball and the last one at the meeting we had last Friday two other men showed up for your need about 8 to 16 to make up teams. Yes and add there’s just tons of people on here interested in so I was just appointed in that, what are you gonna be some more people get interested I don’t know call I’m hoping the putting greens I guess that’s OK for a golfer but not for me cause I’m not. I’m not a golfer so I was hoping to get into the basketball and have some teams and have some outside activities .

My loved one was previously a resident at Arden Courts Memory Care Palos Heights and overall our experience at this facility was okay. However, I think that they set the expectations way too high and then could not deliver. My loved one did not receive the care that he needed and was told that he would get. I would recommend Arden Courts Memory Care Palos Heights to others if the potential resident assumed that they would only receive half of what they were promised.

Areas that The Auberge at Lake Zurich could improve no - Accountability in caring for the clients. My husband had multiple "lack of care" instances. When he came home I was back and forth with hospital and doctors offices.
