Great facility, 1 bedroom apartment is a little dated, but good view of center nature area and pool; Balcony. Hallways are open to the elements, so would need winter coat to walk to dining room in winter. Less expensive overall rent, and community fee transferable to other Brookdale facilities.

Beautiful facility and everyone was upbeat, friendly and very helpful. We looked at a studio option and it was adequate. Very clean throughout. Air fresheners in the building bothered me (sensitive to these). Costs seemed quite reasonable for services provided.

Very nice place. Clean, lovely setting. Rooms look good size (especially the large 1-bedroom). Dining room looks clean and food was good.

Legacy is a large new senior living community. It is beautiful; more the atmosphere of a luxury hotel than a cozy residence though! It has lots of activities for residents in various stages of aging, offers a wonderful menu from the dining room, and [name removed] was so helpful in answering my question about what would be best for my parents who have different levels of need. It is expensive however. It's worth checking out. I met a 100 yr. old resident who seemed very vibrant and engaged in her surroundings!

I went on a tour here and it was fine. The staff was nice and helpful. They answered all of my questions. It was a little further out. It was clean and kept up nice. I recommend families tour many places before making a choice.

With my love one being here, it looks like everything is going good. His transition from living from a house alone to a place with more people went well. What really sold us on this location was our initial contact, [Removed], who intake was in sales I believe, but I talked with her for a long length of time over the phone before we went on our first tour. So she knew about our concerns before going in. She had a genuine interest in what we need for my love one if he were to be here. I saw that around the facility there are many open common areas at different locations at the property. We also liked the layout of his apartment; it helped out my love one a lot. As for meals, he likes it and he gets his two meals a day. If he wants he could pick up a third meal for a very reasonable prize. My love one is introverted, but he can be very social when he wants to be. He also has familiar faces that he sits with during his meals. All together we are very happy with this facility.

I feel that Brookdale has been a good fit for my loved one so far. The community is not a new as some others I know of, but it is still very nice and well-maintained. I like that it is a pretty large community, so there are plenty of opportunities for my loved one to socialize if she wishes. The main reason we chose Brookdale was it's location. I like that it is very convenient to get to, and I would recommend this community to other families.

This is a very nice assisted living and memory care option. The staff clearly are engaged with the residents. We spoke with the 'maintenance guy' and it is clear he is very passionate about the facility -- the way they treat their employees, as well as their residents. This is not exactly what we are looking for at this time, but should my parents be ready for assisted living without independent living, this would be a place of consideration.

This is a good independent living option with 'bridge' care options for their memory care. Very affordable. Most of the staff have been with the facility for 10yrs plus. Residents seem very happy here, and the staff do interact a lot with the residents. This one is at the top of my list for consideration. It is an older facility, but with the new corporate ownership, there are some 'facelifts' in the works which are need and will be nice upon completion. I felt very comfortable in this place.

This is a good assisted living option. Facility is new. Residents are grouped into specific 'houses'. The common areas are large and open, but in carpeted, so they are loud (not so great for people with hearing aides). Rooms are studio-type only -- where the bed and living area are all in the same room. Kitchen is part of the common area. This looks like a really nice place if you are looking for more 'attentive' senior living (assisted in nature).

I toured this facility and it was good. The cleanliness seemed fine, but there was a little bit of an odor. There wasn’t a lot of activity going on either and when we walked in the residents were just sitting around. Though, it was almost time for them to sit down to eat so that might’ve been why. We heard one of the caregivers yelling at one of the residents in the dining room and that ultimately just put a bad taste in our mouth. However, the person that gave us the tour was from corporate and they seemed knowledgeable about the facility.

I toured this facility when looking for a place for my parents. It was more like an apartment building than a community. I wasn’t that impressed with it. The outside area was lacking a lot and everything seemed to be geared more towards doing things inside. It’s a brand new facility, though, so it’s very clean and looks nice. The person that gave us the tour was able to answer all of our questions and they seemed knowledgeable about the facility and what they had to offer.

I decided to tour this facility because they have a memory care unit which is what my Wife needs. Upon arriving, I notice that the unit is much smaller than other facilities and they don’t really have room for my wife to walk around. They do offer a lot of activities and all of the staff members are very nice. If I brought my wife here, I would be able to walk her around the facility as long as she was with me. While I’m not there she would, unfortunately, have to be locked in the memory care unit. The facility itself looks very good and it would have been a good choice, but it just wasn’t big enough. I would recommend other families to look at this facility.

Overall, I feel that Brookdale is a nice community. It's a good, social place for the residents, and I feel my mother is doing really well there. She is making an effort to go outside and to socialize with the other residents. However, I feel that the place needs some sprucing and updating. The paint is coming off in some places as well, and I feel that places like the ding room and community room need to be large to make navigation easier for walkers and wheelchairs. Maintenance also takes a very long time to fix issues. Aside from these issues, Brookdale is generally a very nice place.

I toured here when looking for a place for my mom but she didn’t want to move in because there’s no independent living available, only assisted and skilled nursing. When I first walked in, the thing that stood out to me the most was the fact that they were so friendly and welcoming. They had flavored water that was available and they even had homemade granola. I know that the other residents that were there had more declining health issues, but while I was there they were all just kind of sitting around and seemed to be bummed out, they weren’t happy or anything. The staff seemed really nice and happy to be there, but it just wasn’t the place for my mom. However, this place would be perfect for someone who’s just coming out of the hospital or someone that needs constant supervision.

This property is great. I think that the staff team here is fairly competent and knowledgeable. For the most part it’s been a positive situation. My loved one residing there is not a big fan of the food. She most prefers to cook for herself. The cleanliness is good and there’s no bad odor in the facility. There is also lots of activities provided for the residents. There’s about maybe six to seven things happening every day such as knitting, movies, drives in the country, and days at the casino. I would recommend this property to families looking into options for their loved ones.

[Removed] and I visited on Saturday 11/25. We thought that it was a nice place. It's independent living. The apartments open to the outside and feels more like an apartment instead of a nursing home.

I toured here when looking for a place for my mom and I didn’t like it. It didn’t have the feel of a nice place. There wasn’t anything wrong with it but it seemed like there were a lot more people that weren’t as active and were more so sedentary. I felt an atmosphere of depression. However, the facility was kept clean from what I could see. The person that took me on the tour seemed knowledgeable and answered any questions as they came up.

I chose Brookdale West University because I wanted to be close to my job. Overall, I feel it has been a good experience, but I do feel there are some areas that could use improvement. I feel that that the food could be better, as sometimes, the meals are not so good. I also was hoping to find a place with more immediate medical help. There is an alarm system and a nurse on call, but I was hoping for more. I'm also not sure if the community has lifesaving equipment such as defibrillators or if the staff is trained to use them. I really do like the apartment they offered me. it's two one bedrooms joined together to make a two bedroom apartment. Overall, I feel that Brookdale is a good community, and I do appreciate its convenience.
