I have a family member who is receiving care here. At first everything was going fine, then we started having problems with medications not being given and clothes missing. Myself and several members of the family have talked to the Nurse Director, [name removed] about the meds- she seems uninterested, rude, and not alert to what is happening. When a Director of Nurses is clueless like [name removed], the nurses beneath her will be as well. My family and I are discussing taking our family member out of here because the quality of care is poor, medications are not given, and clothes go missing- no one ,not even the leadership knows what is going on. This facility use to be good, but somewhere along the way it has gone wrong. Do not put your family member here.

Brookdale appears to be pleasant,clean and a good place for a loved one. Upon closer inspection it is inadequetly staffed,and not clean. Please be aware that the costs associated with the facility are always going to increase and you will continually pay for services that one would expect to be included with the monthly service fee. Upon moving in,the bathroom was filthy and I was told that Mondays are cleaning days and Monday had been a holiday. There is inadequte staffing and I was told there is "no ratio required in this type of facility". I moved my Father out after one week,and the staff never acknowledged my phone calls to discuss my concerns. Please read all of the contractual elements and insist on a written list of all costs that will be assessed as the lack of honesty,and transparency is remarkable. I would never recommend Brookdale in Paso Robles. Bait and switch,look beyond the nice tour and marketing speech.

When I chose this place 3.5 yrs ago I was told they had an activity monitor button so you could be assured your loved one was up and going every day. FALSE . Your family member could be in their apt for a week and never be checked on. If they don't show up for meals, no one checks on them. They would be "found" when the apt was cleaned, once a week. Outside doors are not secure. I have reported this for the past two yrs. Nothing is done. Facility is poorly maintained, no money is spent to make sure facility is safe. Elevators fail on regular basis. Fire drills are a joke. Brookdale doesn't mind raising rent EVERY year while services go down. Mom is 92 and doesn't want to move. I've installed cameras in her apt, go over every day. If you can't constantly monitor your family member, DON'T CHOSE THIS FACILITY.

When we were looking for a assisted living facility for my mother we talked with the ED at Ventana Canyon. This was several months ago. She was charming and assured us that my mother would be treated like family. Well we found out that her idea of family were at the opposite end of the spectrum. We are in the process of moving our mother. This is a very difficult process as it is even more difficult for elder people to adjust. The ED has treated my mother and other residents with disrespect and one time talked to our mother in a manner in which my mother would not leave the room for 2 days. I caution family members to talk to care givers and other family members before selecting a facility. Not all ED's are the same. Remember when an ED tells you something get it in writing. All this ED cares about is filling the rooms for as high a dollar as possible. .

My folks have been living here for about a year. It has been a continual problem in all areas. The dining room is always slow and service is horrible. When the staff is asked for something they forget and never remember even after being reminded of simple things like dressing for a salad or a drink that you would think makes common sense that these older folks may need something to drink with there meal. The management is unresponsive to requests and IT SEEMS they are interested in selling you a bill of goods to get you to move in then could not care less if you are less than satisfied as long as THEY are getting paid. This is an expensive place to be for the very very lack of services that they advertise. I am very sad for my folks esp since they do not want to go to the expense and physically draining move to another facility. This is a poor excuse for a community and these folks do not really care at all but to get the $$ from there residence!!!!

in a nutshell... the staff mishandled my mother and broke her leg. Sent her to emergency, she was there for two weeks, then sent to a rehab facility. Before she even returned to Brookdale, we received a letter that she was being evicted! Had to find another place for her. THOUSANDS of dollars afterword and... Brookdale still claims that there is an amount owed. HORRIBLE food! NEVER enough staff! Missed bathing's (sometimes three weeks)!! Horrible room cleanings. BROOKHELL!!

Tried to call on Sunday. The phone had a busy signal all day. My dad was admitted, called director for a sit down to ask questions, my sister and I are being denied info. I'm concerned my father's legal rights are being violated and taking advantage of . There is no communication from [name removed], the director. In fact she had rudely asked me if I was close to my father over the phone when I called her. Wow, Wow, very very unprofessional and very scary for my dad!!!!!

Run, do not walk away from this community. Completely lacking in leadership, management that is here lies constantly. Staff is resigning and there is no Executive Director. Under staffing is problematic. [Removed] is rampant. [Removed] is the norm. Stay away.

Stay away from Brookdale Dunwoody! As of March 1 there has been no improvement in the food and yesterday it took 40 minutes for my parent to be served a dinner entree. At dinner they always run out of soup and desert. There is no security being taken to protect residents. Front door is open at night and there is no one at desk or in lobby. Since Christmas many residents have left because of the non caring attitude of management.

My Aunt stayed at Brookdale (she called it Brookhell) for a few months and contracted C-Diff while there, amongst other things. I thought the food looked awful too. Her laptop computer was [Removed] from her Brookdale apartment while she was in the hospital. The place is expensive at $4,500+ per month and looks nice on the surface but it is a breeding ground for illness and it's not safe. My Mom and I even got very sick last fall with a gastrointestinal disorder after visiting her at Brookdale. Sadly, my Aunt passed away a few days ago from the C-Diff. If you care about your elderly parents or family members AVOID this place at all costs!

This place is absolutely not a good fit! Since Jan 1st the new corporate office is just out to fill spots with bodies. They do not care who they hire, they do not even do backgrounds on most of their new hires before hiring. [removed]. The Memory Care coordinator has no education to fit his position let alone any position in the health care industry. [removed]. The night shift sleeps and does not check the residents. I can keep going, but it's obvious this place is truly not what it seems... Do your research!

The RN's were great at Brookdale Mtn. View rehab, but sadly, they weren't the complete package deal. My aunt went in for rehab with a broken hip. She left 17 days later in an ambulance because she refused to take her medicine. She was starving from lack of nutrition and dehydrated (in part from c-dif), and she also left with a bed sore that had been 5 cm long. She is now in a long term acute care facility, but is fearful that she will have to go back there. Her WHOLE family has assured her that she will never, EVER, go back there. Moral of the story? I would advise anyone with a loved one to be sure to research, personally look at and ask questions at several long term facilities, assisted living facilities or rehab facilities. You ALWAYS want the best care for your loved one. BEFORE they move there.

Short staffed; care givers, wait staff and kitchen. Crappy food. Cold food. No comfort food for these old people. Never saw beef stew, chicken and noodles, stuffed peppers, bean soup, etc... On occasion, out of simple supplies like straws, salsa and spaghetti cheese. 30 day notice to move out is ridiculous. Should not apply to this population/these facilties. Enhancements to consider could be in room intercoms, quieter ac, access to water/ice dispenser. I will tell others of my moms awful experience and encourage anyone to do better research and not allow a loved one to be placed at a Brookdale facility. What an eye opener on how our older population are discarded to these facilities. Shoot me first before I ever experience this again. Karma

Buyer beware! Please don't let yourself be fooled that these folks really care about your elder loved one. They are solely about the MONEY. They will literally jump through hoops to sign you up, and get your money, but if there's a problem you're elder loved one is totally on their own. Scary and very costly what my dad went through in the FEW days he was there.

We had a very painful experience here. Very little room for diversity and more concern for appearance than comfort. Looks lovely but not the accepting and cozy environment we wanted for my parent.

My family moved my aunt into the cottages after a tour was given and we felt it was a good place for her with her progressing dimentia. Family was told of the Clairbridge pro game which we read about in the Brookdale.com website. It states they do 6 programs a day and tells about each. This NEVER happens. Residents sit around in the living area or their bedroom and do nothing! It also states that the caregivers are all trained in Clairbridge. The ones we spoke with are not. Caregivers seem tired and often only one on shift when two are required. A dangerous situation. They don't have all have training. A very disappointing reality. I also see where this facility has been turned into the state numerous time. The administrator doesn't seem to be aware of most of the issues. The nurses aren't don't give th care needed for a memory patient. Do your homework before choosing this facility.

We we shown a calendar of daily activities. They spoke of bbq's in the enclosed courtyard as well as flower planting and so on. We moved our relative in and...it was awful!! Often there is only one staff in the cottage and when they are helping someone everyone else is out of luck. The caregivers are overworked ...they do caregiving which is labor intensive in a memory unit as you have to do showers and moving residents to chairs and various other needs they have as well as laundry and serving and preparing dinner plates. Impossible for them. Many times they are pulling double shifts and working alone. Administrator never calls back. Safety pull cords don't work. They have been turned into the state numerous times I have found in out. PLEASE spend some time there before you move a loved one into this facility!!!!

i feel my dad is not reciving the proper care!!! they over promise and under serve! I want my dd out of there ASAP

I would advise you to look away. This is not what may be introduced on the tour. Nothing happens here that they say, the food is cold, they do not help with your needs and their staff took medications from my Mother. They let her sit in her own urine for hours and I paid extra for bathroom care. Would not recommend!
