New Perspective Senior Living

I’ll start by saying the one positive about this community I’ve seen – the grounds are beautiful. The house is lovely and beautiful inside, everyone SEEMS to be helpful, but in reality they really aren’t. The staff at New Perspective leaves my husband alone a lot and he has dementia. They stand around on their phones, there’s no nurse on staff overnight and there are a lot of caregivers. They’ll go in periodically for activities to get him involved but if he pushes back even a little, they leave him alone and they don’t talk to him. My husband is a veteran and 70% disabled, no one spends any sort of one on one time with him. He’s supposed to be receiving showers regularly and it wasn’t until I helped him take a shower that I saw he wasn’t even on a bathing schedule and hadn’t been since August! If there are other residents who don’t have family to stay on top of the staff, they might be experiencing the same thing. I don’t think they feed the residents enough either. He’s constantly hungry and there’s not enough food it seems for everyone to eat a full meal. They won’t help him change into his pajamas and some nights he’ll wind up sleeping on top of his covers in his day clothes because he can’t get out of them himself. In the morning, they leave the blinds on the windows closed and the lights turned off. There comes a time when the frills and the icing aren’t important anymore and it comes down to how your loved one is being taken care of. My husband is getting weaker because they don’t help him move around or get out enough. I really would not recommend this place to anyone and as soon as possible, I’ll be moving him.

We had toured this community and thought it was going to be a good fit due to what the sales department said they offered. One of the most important things that we were looking for was that either they would have religious services on-site or at the very least they would have transportation to take my mom to church. Well, it turns out they have neither no bus they claim they have no driver yet and they do not hold any services on site. Mom was being taken to the activities, in the beginning, however, the staff has no stopped that with no reason. My mom has become very depressed since moving here. At first, she liked the food but now she is not liking anything. The staff is not always the same it is different people with different attitudes.

This community was nice however it offered different levels of care and we were only interested in independent living. The community appeared to be well kept and clean. The staff we met were nice and friendly.

My mom is fine at this community. While they are following through with the care and good meals the staff needs some improvement and the communication is the other thing to be worked on.

The staff here did a good tour, they showed me all around and were able to answer all my questions. This really is a beautiful place but I didn't feel that it would be the best fit for my mom.

I love my apartment! Change over in staff is distressing. When it was Lighthouse it felt like home and it feels less so now. I'm not happy with the change in how the fees are done.

They claim to have a chef but the food seems to get worse and worse they just have fancy names there's no flavor there is no tastes if it's even edible.

The sales person that took us on tour seemed to be insincere. They did have a nice offer going when we toured, however the toilet in the apartment they showed us was dirty. There are yellow chairs when you walk in and you are able to see the dirt on them. I am not sure about how well the housekeeping staff are. I did not think this was the right fit for my loved one.

New Perspectives has wonderful caregivers for the residents. When we first moved in it was a hard transition for our family, after our adjustment we have grown to appreciate all the staff for the care provided. Everyone was so pleasant and kind to us all. I would have liked to have seen a contact list made of pertinent phone numbers when we moved in.

I'm sure the place will look great when it's done, but when we toured they were in the process of renovating. This made it difficult to tour and it was not the best impression walking in the front door for the first time.

We really liked the location and the common space. It as nice to see residents socializing in the bistro. The apartments we toured had lovely lake views and we felt would meet Mom's needs except for the kitchen which had no place for food preparation. In my opinion all it was good for would be heating up a frozen dinner. The other drawback was the walking trail, which we didn't look at, but were told circled the building which would make it too short for my mother's needs. We were kept waiting for 20 minutes for our scheduled appointment which cut short our time to ask questions. (The sales person called in sick. We were seen by the executive director who had no notes from my conversations with staff.)

Very nice first tour! [Removed] did an excellent job of telling us about Sunrise and answering our questions. She followed up with a floor plan so we can share with our mother. Disappointments were the extremely limited kitchen (only a mini refrigerator; no stove; no microwave). The view over the park was very nice. Overall, we are impressed with Sunrise and what it offers for Assisted Living. However, I'm only giving it a 'fair' rating since we have only had a first tour.

The tour of New Perspective by [Removed] was great! [Removed] was excellent at sharing the Assisted Living environment at New Perspective and answering our questions. Disappointment was the limited kitchen (only a mini refrigerator and no ovent). It did have a microwave included. Overall, New Perspective was an impressive facility for Assisted Living. I'm only giving it a 'fair' rating since we have only had a first tour.

We toured the community and it went well and everything was fine. They were on time and prepared to answer our questions. We felt they would not be able to offer any future programs for us. They were good to my mom and told us options about their care.

This is a lovely facility overlooking a lake and the staff seemed attentive to the residents. When I visited, many of the residents seemed to be mostly of the more lower functioning than my mother is. I don't know that she would fit in this population well. Just where their residents are in their continuum right now. They did have a nice activity program, and the apartments were nice. The food was not good, and served on white serverware, which is difficult for people with older eyes to see. Most memory care areas serve food on colorful plates and dishes to help them discern what and where the food is. They served white clam chowder in a white bowl, whiteish fish with whiteish scalloped potatoes on a white plate. Ugh. So monochromatic! Even on a colorful plate that would not be appetizing. I had an alternate choice, since I don't care for fish or seafood. Not very good. I did enjoy speaking with two of the residents, and they said they find it ok there, three squares and a room.

It is still a work progress for my husband here at this community. He has had a few falls, and now is in the hospital. I do feel that this community is under staffed at times. He has gotten lose a couple of times. The staff is good, and they have been very responsive with their help. They are also friendly and helpful. We are still working on some things. So far I'am still assessing the situation.

Nice facility with good care. The cost of care came in about $1200 per month higher than we anticipated based on what we were told during the sales process.

Sunrise of Golden Valley is a nice community. The overall community is kept clean but the rooms could use some additional attention. The community is too large of a place for our loved one. Our loved one would benefit from a smaller community that can provide the one on one attention they need.

I would not recommend this community. The time that my loved one resided in the community the housekeeping was not good. They needed better cleaning services and the laundry service was not good as well. Clothes would sometimes go missing. The meals that were offered were not good. I did however like the interaction between the staff and the residents it was good.

So far my father is doing okay here at the community. For the most part they do a good job with keeping everything nice and clean. I know we made a good choice with moving her here. She is receiving great care. They have a good staff, they have been very helpful and welcoming. I'am comfortable with the care they are providing her and I would recommend this facility.
