There seems to be a breakdown in communication between staff. Some of the nurses and caregivers I have spoken to seem to feel irritated if you have questions. The first time we spoke to the executive director it did go well. I cant recommend this community at this time due to the issue we had

We toured Sunrise and I just didn't feel that it was appropriate for my dad, I just had a feeling. But the staff were very nice

We chose the facility because it seemed beautiful, they had great ratings online, and also they have aging in place which was a huge deal so they don't have to move. They do seem to be short staffed so they could use improvement with that.

The aides were really good, we liked them a lot. But my loved one has mobility issues. And when we signed the contract, it was for the highest level of service, which was to include the use of a lift with assistance from two staff members. When it finally came down to it, they said this is just not working out and you're going to have to find somewhere else. My loved one was only there about 6 weeks, we were dealing with Covid as well, and the whole thing was just really difficult and unfair. They obviously didn't want to work with us, and I couldn't leave my loved one somewhere unwanted. My argument was with management, not with the staff that was working with him everyday.

If you need meds managed well this would not be a good fit. They are very inconsistent with everything. I would not recommend this community to others unless your loved one is completely self-sufficient.

The rooms were beautiful and most of the staff was really awesome. If your loved is outgoing they will love it here, if not they are not forced to participate. overall I would recommend this community.

I would not recommend this location for Assisted Living. I felt like they did not provide the care level that we were paying for consistently. It was just not a good fit for my mom's specific situation at the time.

The atmosphere of Sunrise is very bright and open. We enjoy the "house dog" to greet us as visitors. The communication to staff members need improvement. As a child of a resident, we need to keep in contact with various staff. Email is not an option, just phone calls, which usually ends with a voice message. Return of the messages varies. The activity van has yet to be utilized (within the 3 mos. that the resident has been there). Consistency of staff and duties needs attention. Staff is friendly towards residents and visitors.

The staff try’s hard but they’re e so short staffed that it’s hard for them to give you the right level of care that you need. Expensive for the level of care that you receive

The staff is friendly and the facility is clean. The activities program is very nice as it requires a big effort to provide entertainment, field trips and coordination to move groups of residents about! My biggest issue is with lack of training for staff, lack of pay for the staff and the management lack of respect for the workers who have a very difficult job caring for their elderly residents. I see the level of effort needed to meet the clients needs yet there is a revolving door with staff. Pay is surprisingly low, training is virtually non existent and the management seems to be very adversarial towards the staff. The bulk of the staff I have seen were great and very hard working.. to the point of overworked. If the management would invest in a longer training period for the aides and offer a tiered reward system of bonus pay based on how long they work there ( with performance reviews of course) your residents will benefit from better care and familiar faces instead of an ever changing cast of mediocrity. Your facility is for “profit” so reinvest a bit of that profit in your staff. It’s money well spent! After the staff is the face of your business!

This was a nice place. we liked that there were activities for the residents, puzzles, making a cake, and other things. we thought it was too big for our mom though and have chosen a smaller place for her.

The tour was good and informative. It is a bright and cheery place nice decor. They really encourage residents to be out of their own places. Their activities was more varied and filled than other places I have seen. They seem to try and address the whole person. The sales person conveyed that they try and work with the resident's needs. The biggest drawback that I see is that the quarters were very small and they didn't even really have a kitchenette. I am not sure my loved one would be happy there despite the friendly atmosphere and cheery decor due to the small quarters.

Beautiful housing and staff. Probably representative of most memory care facilities regarding cost. At this point my guesstimate will not support even mom if dad dies soon for two years.

I looked at Island Shores, and thought it was a nice community. However, it was just too big to feel comfortable. I also didn't like that they serve meals only at certain times, and you have to be there at that time. I just knew I would not feel comfortable there.

Emphasis on senior living. Recently added assisted living. For profit, pub, coffee shop eating facility. Restaurant not open yet.. Full kitchens with stoves.

I chose this community because it's close to my house and I would be able to visit my wife frequently. The staff is wonderful and they treat my wife nicely. Everyone here is friendly, cheerful, and welcoming. The facility itself is very nice and clean. I cannot get over how accommodating they are to my wife's needs. The reason why I gave it 3 stars is because the food is absolutely lousy. What they need to do is fire the chef and get someone who knows how to cook. The food is what you expect to be served at a [Removed].

I toured this property and the staff was very nice. I decided against this property for our dad mostly because of the very wide staircase in the middle of the building. It was beautiful but I did not feel it was safe for our dad as they only had a room available on the second floor and he would have to pass this stairway to get to the elevator. I was concerned with safety and did not think this was the place for us.
