A Place for Mom has scored New Perspective Senior Living with 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 303 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, New Perspective Senior Living has 1,156 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.1 out of 5.
Out of pocket is $[fee removed]. This place is absolutely horrible! The staff is underpaid, leading to low-quality employees who are often on their phones rather than assisting the residents. The food is appalling—on New Year’s Eve, they served dried-out bratwurst with chips, and some residents couldn’t even keep their food down. The cranberry juice is watered down, and there’s no housekeeping. Residents' clothes and sheets are never washed, and the overall cleanliness is nonexistent. Without notifying me, they moved my mom to memory care, and when they did, they didn’t even bother to properly set up her apartment. The bed frame was too big, and there were no locks for safety. My mom ended up sitting on a wooden chair for several nights, which permanently affected her physical health. She was so confused by the clutter in her apartment that she ended up using a kitchen drawer as a bathroom because the actual bathroom was blocked.

I've lived the "New Perspectives" experience for a few years. If you have health concerns such as mobility- head in the opposite direction! If you require a higher level of care, I can guarantee you will not get it here. I had a mother who died here in the first floor Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF). I moved in to ASSIST with Mom's care and would often be the only one awake during 3rd shift to care for her! I am NOT a paid caregiver - just a caring daughter. I have a friend in Memory Care who is forgotten when it comes to entertainment brought to the bldg - unless staff is reminded to include her. I know several people in assisted living who have used their call buttons to no avail. Many have waited hours for help with toileting, showering, or receiving their medication in a timely manner. However, the other side of the coin is independent living. Mom died over 1 year ago and I am still here paying high rent, but appreciating the privacy of my "she shed studio."

It has been a horrible experience from day one! The price we were told is different from what it is. Our loved one have said everyone for the most part is nice and friendly and our score would be drastically different for the staff that delivers the medication. Overall our loved one seem to enjoy the meals.

If you can avoid this place please do it's a nice building but in the memory care unit they never cleaned when my dad had accidents I've sat in his pee cause his mattress was soaked cause they didn't know how to put a mattress pad on the bed and his floor has been wet for a week before they shampooed it and they would not help him eat he could not see so someone needed to feed him I had to go there everyday for awhile just to feed him myself the workers are from Africa and they pay them less so they never want to work they don't realize they are putting people's lives at risk for that and I had found him fallen in the shower yelling for help one time I went there who knows how long he was laying there and then they made me take him to the ER when I talked to the head nurse about his accidents on the floor her solution was to wear suspenders but the staff never put them on him and she just kept telling us to report it to try to make things better but it never changed and we have had to take him out in other people's coat and shoes cause everytime I went there someone else had his things it's just a very disorganized place and the workers like to just sit on their phones

If I could give them a negative number I would. My mom passed away last October at new perspective. Their quality of care was awful. We paid for daily check ups to make sure she went to breakfast lunch and dinner. My mom wore adult depends and they were to empty her garbage every day, they did not enter her bathroom stunk of urine. They just didn't care for her very well. My sisters and I would go there. Take her to activities. Have lunch dinner whatever with her and nobody had been to see her all day. I started going there daily just to empty her . I wouldn't put my, worst enemy in that place. Right before my mother passed she pulled the cord for help. It was two hours before someone got to her and by that time she was gone.

When considering Woodland Terrace I would strongly suggest you read the "current reviews" online, go to the Indiana Department of Health Long term Care website to read complaints filed, go to Glass Door to read the reviews written by previous employees and speak with the current residents in Memory Care, Assistant Living or Independent Living. Our experience was not one I would want you to experience. Do a walk through without the Market Manager and speak with any resident you come in contact with on their satisfaction / happiness with this facility. Look at their Facebook page to see when the last posting was and how active are the residents. Ask how many RN's, LPN's, QMA's(qualified medication aids) activities staff are on each shift. Base your decision not on what the facility was like when it opened but, in the last two years. Our experience has opened our eyes to elder care and many things we would like to not remember. We will not refer to Woodland Terrace of Carmel.

They didn't check on my mom enough. She developed a huge, deep bed sore that became septic, so she had to go to the hospital where they surgically cleaned it. It took months to heal and caused repeat infections. Her condition also deteriorated significantly because we had an issue refilling her prescription with the pharmacy. Without that medicine, she was barely able to eat or talk. A readily available, cheap substitute for her medicine was available, but their NP did not put her on it, either because she did not know the alternative existed, or because they didn't check on my mom enough to get to know her and realize how much she deteriorated. She was barely eating, and the high school student in charge of feeding her didn't really notice or say anything, because she just listened to her headphones the whole time she was with my mom and didn't pay attention. After my mom was in the hospital for a while, Sunrise said they would not take her back because her condition was too severe for them to care for. (They contributed to her downfall though). Most of the actual care is provided by high school or college age kids who just sit on their phones all day. Is this a good place for an independent old person, who sometimes needs a little assistance, to have an apartment and a community? Yes. Is it a good place for someone who needs a lot of help? Absolutely not.

Please don't entrust your loved one to this horrible place they claim is an Assisted Living facility. They DO NOT and WILL NOT assist. Your family member will buzz for help and will be left to wait and wait. . (sometimes the staff will never show up). My mother was one of only 3 residents there that didn't have dementia, (we specifically asked about amount of residents w/ dementia beforehand and they lied to us...one of the many lies they told...another lie was their response time to residents call button). So my mother could tell us of the reality of living at Aberdeen Crossings. She would be left sitting in the dining room waving for assistance back to her room and staff would make eye contact and ignore her or talk snotty to her and then make her sit and wait more. This is not just one occasion, this was ongoing for 3 months. I spent every week on the phone relating this to the director, [name removed] who just gaslit us. My mother passed due to a fall due to lack of assistance

My Moms room was not clean when I got there. I stayed 5 days and it still wasn't cleaned. I ended up cleaning her room the night before I left. I ask then look for a vacuum cleaner myself. SW only had one young girl cleaning the whole second floor. My Moms room was to get cleaned once a week (Tuesday's)and that was not happening. I felt sorry for this young girl because they were making her clean each room plus she was responsible for washing sheets and towels for that room. Not all the washing machines were working. She was very apologetic but she couldn't get to the number of rooms she was expected to clean each day. I do NOT recommend Salida Woods to anyone.

They have a great sales pitch, but no follow through. Extremely poor staffing which leads to very poor care. My mother was seriously neglected and we constantly were having meetings with administrators and staff with no results. One administrator actually told us if it was their mother they would remove her. (Which we did, but unfortunately due to availability was not soon enough).

If we could give the overall a experience a -10 we would. Improvements - Actually give a damn about the health and care of their residents. Don't oversell your ability to care just to get a warm body in your facility. Better handling of falls at the hands of caregivers. Better response. Imperative X-rays etc. My aunt lived with an undiagnosed and brushed off broken FEMUR for several weeks which lead to terrible bedsores which put her in the hospital and ultimately resulted in her death. I wouldn't put my worst enemy in there. They have a beautiful facility and great activities but if you are not ambulatory/in a wheelchair and need care...do NOT move in.

My loved one was previously a resident at Sunrise of Golden Valley and the overall experience was terrible at this facility. They were understaffed and we did not get the expected care. There was so much staff turnover, no one seemed to know what was going on. There was no walking program. I would not recommend this facility to others.

When we initially toured NP Long Grove, we were told they have activities all day, use the transport van for fun outings all the time, serve delicious meals, and really work to get to know the residents and their needs. None of that was true. On top of that, after we moved our loved one in, we found they had serious security issues, poor sanitation standards, served processed, high-sodium, non-nutritious meals, had a revolving door of staff, and little to no regard for the well-being of residents. It was so bad that after 6 months, we had no choice but to remove our loved one for her health and safety (which is not an easy decision to make for someone with dementia). We wish we had never brought her to New Perspective in the first place - her life (and ours) have suffered because of it. We hope to warn others about this place so you don't end up in the same horrible situation we did.

I would not recommend New Perspective and have moved our relative out of the facility. For details, I agree with [name removed] review. This was a wonderful place as Arboria but has continually declined under the management of New Perspective. Key issues: lack of care, revolving door of staff, no activities, no chef.

Please do not send your loved ones here. They charge so much for so little that they do. No extra attention or care given no matter how much extra you pay. They are stuck in their room or the dining hall. The activities are few and far between. They don't even enjoy the patio outside. When they receive their food in their room and they can't really feed themselves...they just leave the box and let them go without eating...Again you pay extra to have the help and it is never there. They sit and push their button and don't have anyone come by for a very, very long time. Hope the depends work since they don't show to help assist to the bathroom or the have wait so long they give up. The laundry is not done weekly or the cleaning that you pay for. Look somewhere else and watch out for the stories you are told to get signed up. They just want the check.

I am currently a resident at New Perspective Senior Living Silvis. The food is terrible, they need to hire someone that knows variety and flavor Also need to hire more help and pay them, some residents wait for almost an hour and flag the waitress down as she is busy with other's orders.. Also, when grocery shopping there shouldn't be a time limit. The residents know how to shop. I would not recommend this facility to others. It needs a lot of improvements on a lot of things. I wish I knew about a lot of things before I moved in and, to me, the brochure was false advertising. I know a lot of the other residents feel like I do and don't want to speak up about how they feel.

My mother was accepted with a homer lift transfer, but they did not use it causing bruises and skin tear injuries that resulted in months of infections. We ended up there twice a day to monitor the administering of meds (which she paid $[removed]a day for). She was not receiving them as prescribed. 2-4 hour waits for toileting or getting up in the morning. We met with the direct and managers of cares almost every two weeks for 7 months trying to get improved care. They continued to state they are working for the best care of the patient, but this was just lip service. Then when my mother was on hospice in her last two days, they twice refused pain meds. So what was suppose to be comfort/palliative care was anything but. She was in constant distress and pain. Very under staffed, untrained staff, over promising and never delivering the care she needed or was paying for. Our communication was done by email so we had documentation. They never responded in writing. They did not want any record.

It was a horrific experience at Sunrise of Golden Valley! I would not recommend it to anyone...ever!! I would not recommend anyone put a family member at this facility. In the 6 months our parents were there, my mother who needed the cares, did not receive the cares they were paying for and in her care plan. We worked with an Ombudsman and the Minnesota Department of Health to work with the facility to remedy issues, however, things only got worse not better. Some of the specific issues that my mom experienced was excessively long wait times for response times on button pushes was 2-5 hours, which included toileting, getting out of bed in the morning and getting dressed). For 4 months, she was not given a shower. They said she declined them but I and other siblings were present and they would always say we will do it tonight or tomorrow morning, and it never happened. We had to wash her ourselves. Prescriptions not ordered or administered for 7 days after being prescribed by her doctor. Missed medication and nebulizer treatments regularly. Injuries due to staff not trained on transfers. Staff untrained and unwilling to use the hoyer lift even though it was in her care plan. Based on our complaints to the Minnesota Department of Health, they did a surprise inspection and they had an 88 page report of violations.

The price increased for certain services that we needed. When they do laundry, clothing is often piled in the chair. I am really not happy. The carpet is so soiled, it looks like a very unkept place. It does not seem like a secure community. There was an incicent in which, I needed to get into the community and there was no adult present, but a 5 year old who was in the receptionist area, buzzing people in. Check in more often with your loved one. They don't follow through with things.

Cleanliness gets less than a one, it was disgusting. It is easy to be friendly if you do not do any work. Care gets less than a one, my loved one did not receive good care here. He was left everyday with poop under his fingernails and all over his clothes. Too many foods served were spicy. He was never encouraged to leave his room. No one explained this was self-pay only. No one explains anything. The billing system was horrible. Others looking should know the clothes only get changed once a week. The room and bathroom only get cleaned once a week. They should also know there is no social worker there. They should know the workers just play on their phones. My mom was a nervous wreck and my dad deserved better care.
