It has been going terrible for my dad here. Everything is not well. They bully people here, the invoice is confusing for the residents. No one helped connect the internet. It is like I moved him into a high school environment. I would not recommend them.

Only There For A Weekend

This is a nice looking community but I had some problems while here. I was told they could care for her and it would be no problem. My mom got sick and tried to inform the staff she wasn't well. It ended up to her vomiting in her bed. They did not clean her and the bed, she mentioned they did not ask how she was doing. There was no refund offered after this, I had to get my refund back which they did but this place is for residents who do not need a lot of care.

POORLY TRAINED STAFF ARE A HAZARD TO LOVED ONES

A senior care facility is only as good as the people who are caring for your loved one. We learned this lesson the hard way. We were first attracted to the Keystone Highland Park facility because it seemed clean, was well appointed and convenient to our home, but now after 1 year of having our loved one there, we understand that we made a big mistake. My mother almost died recently because of a new and untrained residential aide. The turnover in staff and the lack of competent supervision of new staff result in a very dangerous situation for those who need a bit of extra care or who are a bit more frail. We are moving my Mom to another facility and I ask you PLEASE do not consider Keystone. I feel guilty that we did not move my Mom sooner—the mistakes made by staff were endless and inexcusable. If you are someone who will visit your loved one often, then you soon will realize that what I am writing is the TRUTH.

My mother lived here for several months. They have a primitive, paper-based medication management system, without good quality assurance. My mother went without a medication for 6 days, and her doctor and I didn't find out for 5 days. They and their pharmacy made multiple errors on multiple days.

Look elsewhere - anywhere, but here

Very negative experience with this place. Would not recommend even if loved one was in good health and did not need any assistance. Do not trust to leave a vulnerable or fragile loved one in the hands of this facility. At first glance it appears very nice and well run, but within a short time noticed terrible urine smell in hallway's and elevators, residents are not kept clean. Most of the aides clearly lacked any sufficient training or common sense. Seemed there was constant turnover in staff. Some of the staff did seem to have their heart in the right place but management was horribly difficult to work with. There was no clear system in place and it was an impossible daily struggle to get the most basic care needs met. The Billing alway's had errors and charges for services that were never done. A lot of empty promises and a very poorly run facility all around.

Too pushy and overpriced

They were really expensive and kind of pushy, they were very determined my parents go there and they downplayed Sunrise. That wasn't their decision, it was inappropriate and I was reallyunhappy with that. Their place wasn't any better than Sunrise and I don't understand why they could charge so much. They tried to say that they bundled everything together but that's what Sunrise does too, for half the price.

Horrible

This place is horrible and I had a hard time dealing with all of them, it was so disappointing. Terrible care, rude people including the people who run the place - absolutely horrible. I'm not saying this because my mom passed, I tried to move her out, but with Covid and the holidays it was difficult. This is not a good place, but they sure make it look good when you're touring. They represented like they are doing things for these people, and I'm still really angry when I think of this place. The administrator, if he's still there, was absolutely horrible. After my mom passed I went in to speak with him and let them know how I felt about the level of care she received. He said, "She wasn't the only patient we had.", and stood there with his arms crossed. My mom spent time at several different facilities and this one was the worst. I would make sure that a friend or a family member doesn't go here and I have passed that along to lots of people. They are not good and the staff never answered the phone, the head nurse was super rude. It wasn't a good experience at all. What they put my mom through there with the lack of care that she needed so badly, and the stress they put on my life was absolutely horrible. On a daily basis I struggled with trying to work and take care of my mom, having to check on her during my lunch breaks. My mom was afraid, they were not nice to her. They were too rough when taking her clothes off to change her, I noticed bruises. I witnessed the staff screaming at residents. One night I came to visit and I couldn't find anyone. She was in memory care although she didn't need it, and we were in the middle of transitioning her to assisted living. The staff didn't seem to know how to take care of her in the memory care unit. I don't know if they even checked on her, they definitely didn't offer her any assistance. When I left after my visit, I was locked on that floor for over 20 minutes trying to get out. There was no one around, there was no staff and I was scared. That's the type of facility that this place is. And I understand its a tough job especially with Covid - but either you're working at these places to help people, or not. The staff, and the people who work there (even in accounting) only care about the money and I think that's why they took my mom in, to bleed her dry. I'm not happy about his place at all.

Looks can be Deceiving

Looks can be Deceiving, When my sisters told me of the place they had chosen for our mother, I googled it for myself and was very pleased with what I saw. After visiting my Mom who was in the Assisting Living at the time, I was again very pleased. After my mom health took a different turn and she was placed in Memory Care we were assured that she would be taken great care of. Our mother raised 10 children by herself, she raised us to take pride not only in how we looked, but where we lived. So we wanted nothing less than to see that she live the same way in her later years. My heart was broken into pieces when I saw the horrible way she was treated, an image I have yet to forget. I would not want an animal to live in that condition, We can only imagine how long our mother had been living in this condition, since we had not been able to visit her in her room since March. Yes we blame the staff for not taking care of her, but the staff is only as good as the faculty and leaders. So I leave you with these questions, would you have wanted your mother to live like this, and what would you do about it?

Memory Care a nightmare

My first hand experience with New Perspective is to not send your love ones here if they're going into memory care. We put our mom here [date removed] because the building itself is beautiful but the care is horrible. On [date removed] I went into the building to see my mom for the first time since the pandemic. Upon my arrival I was met by [name removed] the nurse and she took me back to see my mom. When we got in my mom's room I was met with a smell in her room that was out of this world. Not only was I met with a smell I also seen Feces, Urine, Black and Brown stains all over her carpet and in her closet her bathroom was sickening. I became sick to my stomach from the smell and the condition of my mom's room. My mom looked so bad her hair was so matted to her head like it haven't been combed in weeks and my mom has beautiful long hair. I couldn't do nothing but cry I was so heart broking that my mom was treated like that. I took my mother home with me that day never to return her to New Perspective again. After bringing my mom home with me her depend was soaked with urine and she smelled so bad I had to put her in the tub right away. The tub water was so dirty I couldn't let her soak I had to bathe her and get her out right away. My mom feet oh my God was so black and swollen and her toe nails was so long it hurt her to put shoes on. New Perspective in my opinion needs to be shut down they are not equipped to handle Dementia/Alzheimer residents. The management staff from the Executive to the nurse needs to be fired immediately and get some people in there that cares. My husband said to me our home outside is beautiful no matter what we built it that way but the reason our home inside is also beautiful is because the care taker inside of it you take very good care of our home. He said that to say this New Perspective is beautiful on the outside but the care on the inside does not care that's why it smells when you walk back there that's why all the rooms smells and the bathroom aren't kept up that's why the residents smell so bad there's nobody taking care of the inside you can never take away from the outside because it was built that way. Please do not consider this place when or if it come time for you to put your precious love ones in a place like memory care they do not care about them only the money and my mother was paying over $6000.00 a month to be there and now she's no longer there so that saying you get what you pay for is not a true saying anymore. I found her shower head in her drawer I went into her bathroom to see if it was an extra one no it was her actual shower head the shower hole was just hanging on the floor so this explained why my mom was smelling how can you take a shower with no shower head and nobody notice it was missing WOW. This place is a joke and the management staff is one too.

Sad for my mom. - Family/Friend

When they tell you they staff the place they are lying.

They only staff the assisted living with 2 home health aides for evenings and nights. Hence residents fall all the time, because they get tired of waiting for staff to help them and try to get up on their own, and fall. They only schedule 2 staff for all of the assisted living, because management believes that's all they need. They don't have a nurse call when there is a fall, the home health aide calls, who can't answer questions. I know my mother sat on the floor for over an hour after a fall. They will then lie and say your family member was confused. They didn't even report one fall, I found out from an aide when I was there that they were covering. My main reason for placing my mom there was because [name removed] said it was staffed and we wouldn't have the same problems there as we did at Covenant. We found my mother in a cold puddle of urine in her wheelchair shortly after she moved in. Aides didn't even have time to change sheets. Clothes weren't washed. They had lots of activities to keep them busy. However when I would attend a music activity there would be no aides in attendance and I talked to them about the danger of someone falling. I told them people would stand up, or try to stand up and a staff needs to be in there. They didn't change a thing and someone fell in a music activity that day! Then they tried to get me to say they didn't hit their head, I told them I didn't see the fall and they should assume he did hit his head. Doubtful they did anything but bring him back to his room. Remember they will look you in the eye and lie. This includes [names removed] and worst of all [name removed].

Paying $7,500 a month and they only have 2 aides (caregivers).

Beware

At first we were very happy with the care For our mother, but due to many changes with administration and the care givers the care changed. We found out they we’re giving our mother a large amounts of anxiety medication 3x a day which made her sleep all the time so the residents needed less care. We didn’t not approve the medication it was prescribed by the house doctor. This was heartbreaking to us, we loved her very much. Our mother passed away a year, we didn’t know until she had to moved into hospice. BEWARE and be careful

Hope you don’t need medical care

This is not a place if you need medical care. They do not deliver medicine on time so if you are dependent on medical care this is not the place

My parents moved there from their home in 2015. Neither could die there together. Ok place to live if independent, expect at least one more move for each, and have to die alone.. Caring administrator and RN supervisor gone and replaced with individuals good at maximizing profit-- no caring. When dad died, clear that [name removed] (new admin) wanted 2 people to live in 2 BR apartment to maximize profit. Feel guilty every day for moving my parents and letting this place happen to them.

Looks good. Dangerous for some residents. A bitter experience.

Looks nice, food is very good, and most people are nice. My Mom had a nice time there, taking advantage of various activities for about two weeks. Unfortunately the CEO and/or the head of nursing did not especially care to make sure she got her Parkinson's meds in a very timely manner. Various times when I or relatives were there we had to go track down her drugs after waiting an hour or an hour and a half. My emails stressing timely administration seemed to make no difference, and she ended up declining in health quite rapidly and having multiple trips to the hospital in just two or three weeks. She went to a skilled nursing rehab facility and I relocated her to another assisted living place that seems to deliver on their promises. My opinion is that this is not at all a safe place for anyone who needs drugs delivered within an hour of their normal schedule. Shame!

NO COMMUNICATION, Difficult staff

Do not send your mom here if you want people who care. The worst directors who you have to chase if there is a problem. They are rude and evasive. I have had experience with many nursing facilities over the years. I have never seen a head staff more interested in getting new people than taking proper care of those already there. Communications with family are very poor and certainly not timely. Warning..there are much better places in Beachwood.

Not Good

I would not move a loved one into Brookdale Minnetonka. My wife was in [removed] so my knowledge of assisted living is limited to hearing over the radios that "this person's light has been on for a while". My wife had been there for a little over a year and the administration is very unresponsive from the start. I was told a couple things prior to moving in that turned out to be untrue. This filled a room for them and cost me more money which I am sure they were happy about. Do not get me wrong, there are some aides, maintenance staff and receptionists that are very good and committed to the work they do. Sadly, the lazy aides are running the few good aides out. Over the past 5 months, the care level has gone down hill very fast and there is NO supervision in the memory care unit. I have filled the administration in and what goes on back there with no response and no action taken. Aides will be in the kitchen talking and visiting or on their phones during meals instead of helping the residents. Aides would argue in the kitchen because a few of them did not want to do anything. Everyone at the tables could hear what was going on. Some days aides would ignore residents and I heard an aide mimicking and making fun of a couple residents. One aide told a resident that “you get what you get” when he asked what was for breakfast. I informed the administration and she asked for details. I have been giving details for 5 months and nothing changes and of course nothing changed after that conversation. I know employees have told management that things need to change and they don't even get a reply. I was paying a lot of money which included assistance with meals and that never happened. She would struggle feeding herself unless myself or my stepdaughter were there to help. It was such a bad experience I would not move anyone in there. I feel terrible for the few good employees there but when it comes to care level, supervision and administration responsiveness - it is the worst. Bear in mind when reviewing the ratings that almost all of the 5s were given by employees or administration. I am sure a few more self sufficient residents have had a good experience but if your loved one needs more care, I would advise you to
