New Perspective Senior Living

It's turning out to be more expensive than we thought it would be. We thought it was going to be a little bit more secure. Just to add security it will cost more money. I thought someone was going to be outside the door but there isn't. she does need to be away from the door. Memory unit. She is a very private person before memory care. They are very clean. They have done a good job. Everyone is friendly, don't get me wrong. It's a nice facility, we chose it because we thought we was a nice community. But it ended up being more expensive. they do take elder care.

The thing I like best is that they have gotten my mother out into some activities. You can definitely see a change for the better; my mother is out walking around and doing better. The location is perfect for us; it's nearby and convenient. The only thing not convenient is that they don't have good parking. I've been happy with her care; they take very good care of her. The staff are very responsive. When I have a question or concern, they listen, and they respond pretty well. The thing I most don't like is that when my mother moved into her room, the bathroom smelled of urine, and still does.

We had a chance to visit the Sunrise of Roseville and found it to bigger that what we were looking for , it had a more corporate feel to it. We likeed all the ammenities that it provided as well as the cleanliness that had on the inside & outside on the grounds.

It seemed too small and confined. I didn't like the layout as much. The Sunrise was clean but I didn't like that it was a smaller facility. I know they had elevators to the place where my mother would have been staying and a really cool patio and outside area. It was bright and cheery too. I just know my mother would have been to claustrophobic there.

We chose Keystone because they were offering great deals on move in and the community is just beautiful. Unfortunately we were in a desperate situation and chose to move in before truly looking into it. We were in a bad situation and needed a place for my loved one right away due to legal issues. Our loved one is currently not in Keystone anymore. We just didn’t feel there were prepared for memory care. Our loved one was put into the same dementia patients with a more advanced case, so our loved one was more active then most and seemed like he was just sitting around with no socialization at all. They only have one common area for the memory care where they sit and watch TV, but it is too small for all the residents to sit and enjoy, it is filled up with residents in wheelchairs. They are currently building a patio so that the residents can hang out there as well but it still hasn’t been finished. We feel like the staff just needs some more training on dealing with dementia patients. They should try to make it less confusing no more by moving residents to multiple rooms in a short amount of time. The memory care unit is locked but really feels like they are confined.

Very difficult to any answers from staff... they"look into it" and "will get back to you". Hard to find out answers. No consistency with shower or laundry days; food is fair. Some days coffee not even available. I have asked for the NP to see my mother, another week has gone by. The activities director is great!

Mom doesn't like it (or anything, in their defense) but I think it's a great place. Great nurses and supporting staff, great people planning transportation, doing maintenance, cooking, serving, and more I'm forgetting. I have had meals with mom quite a few times and everything was good. Was it like mine at home? No, but I didn't expect it to be. It's a clean and safe facility that allows for me to work my full time job and maintain my household without having to try to maintain mom's house, too. And I couldn't manage her meds on my schedule. Mom is really unhappy no matter what because of health problems and not being in her own home. I don't have a better solution than where she is, so I don't fault the facility or staff for how she feels about it.

She has been there over 1 month and still hasn't had a microwave installed, phone line isn't connected, blinds on windows don't work, no shelves in kitchen area anyone could reach, drawers in closet don't fit are sitting on the floor in her apt. along with the big microwave in box, no overhead lights in main room, didn't have a fridge for 2 weeks after moving in and she didn't get meds for a day, they ran out, then when they were ordered the pills were hung on her door in a bag and she found them. Not a good thing for a confused resident. Wish they wouldn't have said the room was ready for her when it wasn't and still isn't. The staff is nice.

I recently took my parent who is a resident there to a drs appointment. The dr needed to call the nurses office, the dr stated he can never get ahold of the nurses at new perspective. These nurses are sitting in the office all day long, and no one can answer the phone? Also the administration is mean to the residents. [name removed] is not nice, she is not friendly with the residents or families. She doesn’t go out on the floor and talk to the residents. I’ve heard her yelling at residents even asking minor things. She is not in it for the right reasons, not sure why new perspective keeps her around.

They have some really good people that work there and some really bad people that work there. we do confront them about whatever issues we have and they try to fix them. My stepfather loves [name removed]one of the nurses and she is really great.

The staff is very nice people. The problem was my dad has Alzheimer's. They let us believe that they could handle people from a memory care unit. I like the fact that they mixed everybody together both assisted living and Alzheimer's or memory care people but my dad had a few outburst And they said that they couldn't keep them there and then reiterated that they were in a memory care facility. So we had to move him out of there and he's staying at a different place now.

It did not feel like they had enough staff my mom fell, I moved her out after 2 days they did refund some of the money.

First, the good. They were the only one of three assisted living facilities that would take a chance on accepting my brother who was better suited for a skilled nursing facility. They contracted with a local nurse to visit him and assess his physical condition at a skilled nursing facility in Gary Indiana. She reported that with Physical therapy, my brother should improve sufficiently to be cared for at Beachwood Commons. Unfortunately, the facility has experienced staff shortages, almost from the moment my brother arrived. As a result, they are constantly borrowing staff from their other more mature facility. This has caused problems. Although the facility has a few patients that are bedridden, they do not have enough staff who are specially trained to care for such patients. Also, they do not have enough staff to supervise aides, especially at night and on weekends. On arrival, I expected my brother to be evaluated by an MD. Instead, he was seen by an LPN. Food is be below par.

Short staffed, also [name removed] had to wait 7-10mins before someone came and then she had to wait again so they could get someone to help. Seems as though they should have came in pairs and if one could handle the problem - the other could leave. Director was new but was friendly to get your money but if you asked about a problem - she was rude. When [name removed] got there - the food was excellent most of the time, then when that Chef quit, it really was tasteless and a lot of the time not what we listed on their menu. Also, not enough staff (again) to work the Dining room. Activities were wonderful!!!!!! Very poor upkeep, staffing issues, but most of the staff were excellent - nurses were great, the place needed updating or at least fixing a little at a time. Value could have been much better for the money. I know that [name removed] enjoyed being there if she had to be somewhere other than home. She was not a complainer, we had to advocate for her. It was better than several places we looked at. 3rd floor Memory care was excellent. Very kind and helpful. [name removed] - one of the Staff was tremendous

I am guessing it is because they just changed ownership and trying to catch up. Get the right people in the right spot. Seems as if everyone is in a learning curve. Like making sure the rx people have everything they need to be on the same page as everyone else. Seems as people are leaving at a fast rate and not be filed fast enough. But all in all the people are very nice and pleasant.

The facility is good and they do take care and concern while working with residents. They also coordinate things like PT and OT well for residents on site and in their apartments. However, turnover is high and I've had multiple talks about consistency with cares with leadership. For example, you have to prompt them to do tasks that should be done on a recurrent basis, regardless of the day. Otherwise, bathing, garbage removal, and floor cleaning can be missed.

Inconsistent staff members, increasing rent, average food. Do your investigating before you dive-in. Management has shifted, also.. Don’t see the return for the increasing rent. ?? I would seek out other facilities. Young staff.

Activity director keeps residence, engaged with daily activities and creates an inclusive sense of community. The facility is kept clean and well lit at all times. Areas to improve on : Administration does not follow through with resident complaints regarding staff not completing basic contractual services. (ie, weekly showers) Aids are not well trained in caring for ailing elderly. -Too rough and inexperienced. Meals are fried and processed with no fresh fruits or vegetables. Aids are rude and impatient toward residents during meal times -residents are required to wait an hour after seated to receive their meals due to lack of urgency by staff.

First month has been a rollercoaster. First week was good, second and third were struggles and fourth was okay. They miss their home. Issues around medications and waiting for meds to be delivered rather than me driving 5-minutes to pick up two over the counter medications. Parents calling complaining during week and being told we do not need to answer the phone was not well received. Up front pricing and care levels of assessment and after three weeks were very different. [name removed]loves the physical therapy. Front door staff is usually accommodating but there times when they follow the rules rather than do the best thing for the patient. They would like more activities and being around people on their mental level. They both find the staff friendly and accommodating, yet there is no place like home.
