New Perspective Senior Living

Would like to have better security at night. Building locks up at 8pm and it is tough to get in after 8pm. Like the activities when I could do them, but health status is changing and participating is harder. The food is good and if there is something that I don't like they fix it or change it for something else. Came here to be close to my children.

Takes a while to get things fixed in the apartment. Only one maintenance person at the moment. Should be quick service. Nice and clean community. I get to volunteer and help out a lot.

It was hard for me to adjust to living in a community from living on the farm. We had great help getting things settled upon move in. I am happy living here. There are very friendly people here, staff and residents. They are available to me when I need help.

I have been here almost 4 years. I came from Florida; it was a big undertaking, but I am glad to be closer to my daughter. I love to volunteer and help other residents. I don't want to have to move and I am concerned about cost for the future of senior living. I am independent and I like the fact that if I need help, it is available for me right here.

This is a beautiful well taken care of community. Mom seems to like the food and they offer good portions. She has a nice apartment. They have daily activities and a hair salon on site. She likes most of the staff, however I think there is some turnover with the caregivers. They did a great job accommodating us and I would recommend this community.

When arrived to tour the New Perspective Senior Living | West Bend, the tour guide was prepared and gave us a lot of information. We did not choose this community because it was more independent living than what we were looking for.

The staff I met during my tour were nice. This community was clean and well taken care of. I liked this community.

Food is delicious. Facility stays clean. Friendly, accommodating staff. Room size is great! Overall a good choice for dad to live out his years

Communicating with admin staff is nearly impossible and care giving staff doesn't seem to talk to each other about issues very well. Maintenance is also hard to get scheduled. The room is a decent size. It certainly could be a little larger for someone with mobility trouble (wheelchair/walker). The layout (height of shelfs, blinds in the rooms, even microwave location) is definitely more suited for someone who can still walk versus wheelchair bound. They're very good about collecting trash and keeping up with laundry, they don't want smells or bugs which I appreciate. Overall the food is good and if you don't like what's on the menu, you can request something else and they will accommodate you. The activities schedule is pretty good with things pretty much every day including weekends which is nice and a lot of other places don't offer.

The people are very nice. The activities director is very nice and creates many activities. It's not terribly expensive. The downside is sometimes you only get the answering machine at the front desk and can't get a hold of any staff. Many days I can't get a hold of any staff in general and when someone at the desk answers, I'm put on hold for 15 or 20 minutes. I can't get the Medical person or the Executive Director to call me back with voicemails or emails. It's exceedingly frustrating. They don't give him a shower every week like they're supposed to and I've had to fight tooth and nail to get that to happen. They don't empty his garbage every day so there are stinky depends in there.

Very difficult to any answers from staff... they"look into it" and "will get back to you". Hard to find out answers. No consistency with shower or laundry days; food is fair. Some days coffee not even available. I have asked for the NP to see my mother, another week has gone by. The activities director is great!

They have some really good people that work there and some really bad people that work there. we do confront them about whatever issues we have and they try to fix them. My stepfather loves [name removed]one of the nurses and she is really great.

The staff is very nice people. The problem was my dad has Alzheimer's. They let us believe that they could handle people from a memory care unit. I like the fact that they mixed everybody together both assisted living and Alzheimer's or memory care people but my dad had a few outburst And they said that they couldn't keep them there and then reiterated that they were in a memory care facility. So we had to move him out of there and he's staying at a different place now.

First, the good. They were the only one of three assisted living facilities that would take a chance on accepting my brother who was better suited for a skilled nursing facility. They contracted with a local nurse to visit him and assess his physical condition at a skilled nursing facility in Gary Indiana. She reported that with Physical therapy, my brother should improve sufficiently to be cared for at Beachwood Commons. Unfortunately, the facility has experienced staff shortages, almost from the moment my brother arrived. As a result, they are constantly borrowing staff from their other more mature facility. This has caused problems. Although the facility has a few patients that are bedridden, they do not have enough staff who are specially trained to care for such patients. Also, they do not have enough staff to supervise aides, especially at night and on weekends. On arrival, I expected my brother to be evaluated by an MD. Instead, he was seen by an LPN. Food is be below par.

I am guessing it is because they just changed ownership and trying to catch up. Get the right people in the right spot. Seems as if everyone is in a learning curve. Like making sure the rx people have everything they need to be on the same page as everyone else. Seems as people are leaving at a fast rate and not be filed fast enough. But all in all the people are very nice and pleasant.

Inconsistent staff members, increasing rent, average food. Do your investigating before you dive-in. Management has shifted, also.. Don’t see the return for the increasing rent. ?? I would seek out other facilities. Young staff.

The rooms were not cleaned when they were supposed to be and laundry was not done on time either, lots of missing clothes. The staff are friendly but not helpful. When it comes to the care services, sadly not what a memory care person needs. The meals were nice and timely, mom would miss some of them because nobody would get her to the dining area. Mom enjoyed them when they had them. They do need more activities. Mom is not with New Perspective anymore, we had to move her because she was not getting enough to eat, she lost weight there because of the previously stated reasons. New Perspective seems to have trouble with staffing, keeping people and communication. Lots of disconnect between management and staff.

My parents have been there [time frame removed]. People are friendly, they've made great friendships and they love the facility. In our experience, not always have things been as we were told and oftentimes, they wait longer than one should to have maintenance requests and needs within the apartment addressed. I do believe things have gotten better which I'm grateful for. In all fairness, I realize everyone's experience varies.

Most of the is friendly, but response time is lacking. Housekeeping does a good job. Communication is good. Moving process was very easy. The menu is not designed for people with the most common chronic diseases. Consider feedback from families and residents about the food/menu. I would recommend the facility, but would want people know that it's not perfect.
