The Manning Place was a great place but has gone downhill since the new admistration has taken over. They have a bad turn over rate when it comes to staff.Its like the administration doesn't care about their employees or their moral. So that the admistration has 1 caregiver to 32 residents & 1 medtec on first & second shift to do all the Activities of Daily Living, pass meds, & serve meals. My father was there for 1 month & thats when I got him out of that awful place.

Our experience with Mallard Ridge was not a good one. We had multiple instances of them losing our loved one's possessions, including things like a pair of shoes as well as his hearing aid. Based on our experience I would not recommend them to other families.

We did not have good experiences with the memory care here, and we moved my loved one out. There are some very good staff members, but others who are not. It feels like the memory care section was an unsuccessful attempt to turn an assisted living section into memory care. It is wide open, with people wandering where they will, and the common areas do not contain enough seating to have them all in the same place. The care felt almost negligent at times.

Don't let them kid you - they do very little for your loved one and are understaffed. Very few activities, food is fair. Some of the staff is wonderful & caring, but some are downright mean. Management does nothing when brought to their attention. My Mom would have been better served in a nursing home. We chose this facility because it impressed us on the tour, was close to our home, doctors and hospitals, reached out to dementia patients and had an Alzheimer's wing, but Mom was not delighted after the 1st month (Jan.2012). She moved here from independent living when she needed a bit of assistance bathing, she got around very well & sometimes needed a walker, was a good conversationalist and had the beginning stages of dementia. 30 days later she was in real trouble. Summit was quarantined due to a norovirus outbreak. The place was not staffed to handle it, and she subsequently became dehydrated, had a stroke, leaving her with expressive aphasia and now required using her walker to walk. They assured us they could still care for her. It was hard to communicate with her, but she seemed to indicate they were not caring for her properly. 9/15/12 she fell in their hallway after a staff member gave her a "high-five" and she fractured both shoulders and a knee which left her bed ridden, but they insisted they could still care for her. A week later it was clear they could not, so we hired in private help in the day-time. They lied just to get our money and it took us a month to place her in a nursing home.

When Raven solutions bought spring arbor in march 2017, they made a lot of promises. They did get some new furniture in both assisted living and the cottage. However they put back the old stain chairs in cottage and it smells like urine in the unit most of time now. Staff has been reduced on both sides even though full. Staff is worn out and stressed. They were promised raises this year but now they are told not til next spring. The cottage is at or past full capacity and there is not enough seating for residents in living room. They did get electronic devices for residents and call buttons on cottage side in bathrooms. Staff are suppose to activate buttons to show they are checking rooms. That worked for the first few weeks but not so much now. Most staff leave their cell phone units to monitor residents on tables or not in sight. The best of the facility are the hard working staff, activity personnel and maintenance.

Bad management and the caregivers are lazy. Not friendly when you ask them can they help with your family member. Caregivers stay on their phones all day and the nurse and ED is nowhere to be found when you need answers about something. Horrible.

The staff was extremely friendly. However, they did not notify the family of changes in condition, medications, or resident's behavioral changes. If you place a family member in the memory care unit, be sure to check the each time you go for changes in condition, decubitus (bed sores) and stay on top of you loved one.

My friend spent 10 months there and every time he had an issue or complaint, they sent him to the Emergency room. They are not equipped to handle any pt with dementia that has any anger issue. I was led to believe they were specialist in this area, but that is certainly not the case. Staffing is very limited, and they only have inexperienced staff that do not know how to resolve any issue. If there is any problem after hours...the call to the nurse will result in an emergency room visit with EMS. The bathroom floor was so dirty on one visit that I had to mop it myself, and it looked like it had never been cleaned before. If your loved one is not quiet and sedate, this is not the place for them. I also had to ask to look at his medicine sheet as he was experiencing dizziness and weakness..and discovered one of his medicines was not being given. It is overpriced and more than even some of the "nicer and newer" communities.

Some of the staff truly care about the residents but for most, it is just a job. Poor communication exists shift to shift. There is not enough staff to care for the needs of the acuity level of the residents. If a resident has problems with communication and/or understanding, there are little activities in which they can participate and they end up sitting in his/her room all day. The facility RN is very willing to listen and discuss concerns as is the Pt. Care Coordinator but that is all in management that seem to care. Many residents report follow through with residents' concerns by the Ex. Dir. to be poor. Some feel the major concern is money. Management calls family members periodically to ask if we have any concerns but as of yet, I have not had one concern met. It seems to lie dormant on the Ex. Dir. desk.

The food looks nothing like the gourmet meal pictured above. There are rarely fresh fruit and vegetables. Canned vegetables and fruit cocktail are common Sometimes the chicken was so over-cooked and tough, it couldn't be cut, much less eaten. Recently the entire night staff was let go for incompetence. They seem to have a problem keeping staff in general. The staff passing out medications cannot even identify the various pills they are giving out. Staff answering a ring for assistance more than once opened the door and snarled "What do you want now?" They recently got a new head nurse who stormed unannounced into residents' rooms and confiscated anything that said "keep out of reach of children" by throwing dishwashing soap, hand lotion, cleaning supplies, hair spray, etc. into garbage bags. Needless to say, my family member felt like a robbery had taken place. Even worse, the doctor had written orders on file allowing self-administration of over-the-counter drugs and possession of cleaning supplies. The possessions were returned, but the emotional damage was done. Fitted sheets are returned wadded up instead of properly folded. Everything else comes back a wrinkled mess.

Until recent events, I was very pleased with the services provided by Northlake House. That said, I must speak from my heart. I do believe there is some accountability on the part of the facility regarding my mother’s current physical condition. The comments made by staff about not having proper coverage concern me, as they suggest that my mother may not have been adequately monitored during the time her blood pressure elevated, ultimately resulting in her stroke.

They can start with management. The staff is woefully inexperienced with elder care, especially those with mental decline. I just felt we were misled from the very first day.

DO NOT GO TO PRESTON HOUSE. my dad’s been gone for six months and the care/disrespect he received there still haunts us. If we could have brought him home for his last months/days, we would have. The rooms are small, dirty, and dark. The food was horrible, I was there often and always brought him something edible. The staff were friendly on day one, all smiles, day two and after very unfriendly and rude. Never met the doctor once and we asked to. Nurse only there 8-5 M-F. Didn’t get bathed 3 times a week as promised., had to demand them. It never got better. Med tech was giving PRN medication every night. We questioned why he was getting it because he was calm and she said because he usually got agitated that time of night. Who is she to medicate when not needed, so over medicated him when not needed. Took pictures of him when he was disheveled and passed to other employees and they laughed at him. I saw the photo on her phone and took a picture of it for proof. He lost his dignity.

They simply do not care. Its all about money.

I did not like the community at all. I was called at least every day regarding a behavior that my dad was doing that they did not like. They also sent him to Geriatric psych three times in a six month period and had him on so many psychiatric meds that he could barely stand up on his own. I was given three days to find him a new place to stay which I did and he is thriving in this community and they love him. After reaching out to [name removed]regarding my experience, she never contacted me and seemed disinterested in my overall experience there. We spent [fee removed] in six months there and no one could give me a call to listen to my experience and what they can improve on. They cannot handle any type of dementia or Alzheimer's patients. People need to be aware of that-you get very little for your money.

1 for all, if zero was an option, that would be my answer. Don't expect much in the way of help, it does say assisted living but they didn't do much to help my Uncle, his health declined while there, to the point of multiple hospital visits due to lack of care. We got him out of there before he died. Pretty place as far as appearance, not so much on the care of people . I wouldn't recommend them to anyone

I would give them a bad rating for memory care for several reasons: Nourishment - it is not uncommon for a patient to lose the ability to feed themselves. This happened and significant weight loss occurred without one mention of puréed food and nobody assisted with feeding. She could have passed. My husband had to request this care. Their answer was they are not allowed to feed her. Yet no word of any next steps. We also had a bed sore issued. If proper care was provided, it would not have happened. The staff does the minimum, if that. Assisted living is not good in SC, qualified care is not required. A nursing home is better and that was the direction we took. I never would have gone there had I known there is no cna or nurse.

90% of the staff and 100% of management could care less. I put a ring camera in her room and they put a sign on the door to alert the staff. I wonder why. It didn't prevent her diamond ring and gold wedding band from being stolen... when I asked for access to the hall camera to match up to my ring tape, they initially said yes and then denied it. There was an issue of men getting into her room in checked at night. Denied until I showed them the tape. No response. I took her out of there and never looked back.

They move residents to memory care without families approval. Happened to several while we were there. The rates doubled and you are responsible. Their 3 rd shift is in supervised and bad things happen. They will let residents go without eating if for some reason they can not eat. And knowing they can't do it themselves. I would rather just end it at that. We lost my mom on Valentine's Day and just going back thru thinking it makes my heart hurt. Adjust a very terrible experience. Moved her there in March 2024 very alert and knowing times from one month later her so doped up and hardly ever understood her since.

Stay away from this facility. My mother's wedding rings were stolen and so were her shoes. The staff seemed to have no idea who my mother was when I went to visit her. She got absolutely no exercise and they had nothing for her to do. It was just a warehouse. It was horrific. I would've pulled her out except my husband was in the hospital dying.
