During the time of our loved ones stay the friendliness of the staff members were good, but the care services were just okay. The meals and dining service was acceptable, the activities were still pretty limited, but we did think the value for cost was pretty reasonable.

Make sure to get things in writing and ask a lot of questions. What they tell you is not always what you get when it comes to caring. The assessment that was done was not correct and it seemed to be that they need to fit a spot. They are under new management and hopefully are improving

We like that they have a call button in assisted living so you can get a CNA to come help if need be. If you need food or anything you can push the button and someone will come help. However, we do think they could improve with their transparency.

At the time we chose Northstar Place because they allowed him to be in a semi private room for a great price and they were one of the only facilities accepting new residents during covid. They lacked with communication to the families. It was difficult to get in touch with them on certain things and they did not really follow up well to concerns that we showed at times. If you are looking for a place that will communicate well and you have a lot of questions, I would say to be aware before you choose Northstar Place.

Current health guidelines are not mentally or emotionally good for the residence. The corporate guidelines are very strict. Communication was good between the staff and the family. I wouldn't recommend placing a loved one in a community until after covid due to the guidelines.

The residence does not always receive their food, and they do not focus on the needs of the resident when it comes to dietary needs. They will listen to you but they do not follow up on their promises. When we tried to meet with management they would not meet with us so we moved. I would not recommend this community to others.

When we first came to this community our loved one was placed into the assisted living which was very nice. After awhile he was moved to memory care which was the complete opposite. Our loved one seemed to enjoy the food, but the rooms were very small, not private at all and anyone could walk into the rooms at any time. \

My father has been there for several months. He does not like it. The food is bland and never changes. They don't assist instead they just do it all for him. He was minimal assistance but since Covid he is now total care. They don’t try to help residents walk instead they just push residents in a wheelchair. Phone calls go unanswered for hours. It is hard to get anybody to the front door to answer the doorbell. There are numerous times that you cannot find staff after normal working hours. I have no doubt they are very understaffed. Two staff members alarm from 11pm to 7 AM it’s completely unsafe. This place is on its third director in only eight months. That alone should tell you something. At a time that we cannot even get into see our loved ones they are now increasing the price. It is a great place to stay if you only need minimal help in your daily life.

I spoke with my sister briefly about North Star and she is going to call [name removed] Tuesday morning I think. She has questions to address. She did tell me the told her about a community fee $2500.00. Not sure what that is about and why some of the other facilities didn't have that charge. Pretty steep charge beyond all the other charges they want. This is about all I have to tell you about right now.

Although everyone was very nice it is small PT was doing therapy in halls outcoves no specific room. My mom felt a lot of these residents were inactive and she wants more activity and active residents.

I would suggest doing a review of elder care and what really needs to be done for your loved one. Before placing in either a nursing home or a assisted living like this one. I have found that while the hospitality towards the bill payer is over the top, to care on overnight shifts is not great. Also make sure you understand the billing process and you quote what you understand to them before leaving. It took two months to get the billing to what was written in the contract. They ruined a few of my Dad's clothes at laundry, and lost some for a few weeks. Housekeeping only happens once a week, if something happens prior to that, no one gets it cleaned up. And for 4K a month you would think cable and a phone would be included. My Dad was supposed to get Therapy while there in the 4 moths he was there, it never happened. The Medical transport service they use to transport people to the hospital and back, charge 750.00 - 1800.00 per one way. (I am guessing there is a kick back built in).

I have a family member who lives at Hammond Place, I was pleased in the beginning, but there was a mistake with the medication. I thankfully caught it and the staff made sure everything was corrected. It was really upsetting. The staff is friendly, the meals are ok, communication is ok, it could be better. The price is high. The outings are good. It is clean. There are activities, a workout room would be nice. The courtyard is beautiful. I would recommend visiting several places.

We were almost all set to move into Pinewood Place but they kept moving the move-in date. And then there was the one time we were there and they were moving a deceased person out through the front entrance and we decided we would move her to another facility.

The people at the top of this community are very friendly. There is a lot of bingo played. The rooms are very nice.

My grandfather is doing okay since his move into this community. We would has gave this community 5 out 5 stars at first, but now we see there is room for some improvement. We would say the staff needs to pay attention to their residents more. He had mouth sores for a while, it wasn't until my mother checked his mouth, and saw the the sores. The laundry services needs improvement, his shoes keep getting lost. When we first moved in we were impressed, but now we see there is room improvement in this community.

My grandfather has been here a couple of months now. Upon entering, it was by far the nicest/cleanest home we visited. Since settling in, we have found his room smells, unnoticed sores in his mouth & no clean laundry for him to wear. We have spoke with the staff & really hopes his care improves as we were overall happy with this place. I would still recommend it (at this point) but only if you're able to make frequent visits & keep a close eye on your loved one.

We toured this community for care. The staff did not communicate very well. The community was clean and they do have nice cities that are offered to the residents. We would suggest that other families might be happy with this community if they tour the community for themselves. We can not recommend it due to we did not feel that the staff were friendly on the tour that we had for care

My wife is doing well at this community. She is enjoying the activities and meals they provide to their residents.
