My loved one is currently a resident at The Fountains of Calhoun. The facility is very clean. The meal quality is average. The outdoor space is lovely. Medication administration is unreliable on the weekends. Everyone is vey nice, but they do not default to taking ownership over areas where improvement is needed. The move in process was simple. I would only recommend this community for people with non-complex health profiles and local family that can be hands on enough to have a sense of day to day operations.

I would have to say, meet with rep, tour the property and rooms and make their decision from that. I was impressed with my initial meeting with the representative.

On first thoughts the overall is about a 3. The cleanliness # is based on the urine smell that hits my nose as I walk into the memory care unit . Maybe a 2.The staff gets a 5 for sure. Quality of care is probably a 5. I have not eaten there.? The food looks good and my family member seems to eat well there. Probably give it a 4. Activities sound great Give that a five. So overall probably a 3.5-4. Ask me again soon.

Some staff at Pinewood Square are great, helpful and caring, while others don't want to be bothered. The housekeeping is good and the food is fair. More variety with the food would be preferred. The communication with the family is fair. Levels of care could be explained more thoroughly. More trained staff are needed, as they aren't responsive to needs at times, per the contract. You don't always get what you paid for with assistance, so it's expensive. I'm not sure if I would recommend this facility to others.

They made a nice sales pitch about activities, but it was mostly just bingo. Wasn't as clean as we would have liked. Overall I'm disappointed in this elderly healthcare establishment. It is very expensive and exploiting those who deserve our honor, respect and love.

We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and how much the staff seemed to care. However, reality has not been as good as promised. We’ve found mom looking at her food with no one prompting her to eat. Memory care patients very often need cues to perform simple tasks like eating. Most of the time her teeth are not brushed. At times when we drop by in the morning, she will still be in bed. No one gets her up for breakfast. I don’t know if she would get a meal if we didn’t come by and get her dressed. Weekends are the worst due to staffing levels. Sometimes she doesn’t get her meds. We thought a facility would provide better care than what she was able to get at home, but we were wrong.

My father was a resident at Hitchcock Place. Overall, our experience was okay. Most all of the staff at this facility was kind, caring and attentive. However, their medication system is very outdated and subject to mistakes. It is not a good place for someone that needs 24 hour contact.

We picked this community, because of the cleanliness, friendliness,activities, and overall it's pretty good. I would recommend it . I think families have to advocate for their family members to make sure what needs to be done is being done.

Assisted Living may be very good. The size of the units is wonderful. The Memory Care Unit is not good. There are no (and I mean 0) activities. I really think they need to working on improving the entire memory care unit. I still go there twice a day.

Only one person was of any help to us...the nursing director. Everything else was pretty terrible.

The downstairs was nice. The rooms were small and the closet doors were coming off in the room that would have been my loved one's room. It felt more like a dorm than a home.

We were not happy there. As soon as we moved in, the activities director happened to quit. I think they had a new manager. Our loved one was being charged for Level 3 care, which she did need at first. But they weren't really doing anything for her. Sometimes they forgot to bring her medications to her. There was a day when she first moved in that they forgot to feed her - I think it was just a lack of communication to all the staff that they had a new resident. They didn't come consistently when she pressed her call button. So she just started getting up and doing things on her own. They sold it to us very well, It's a very clean facility, and they just got done remodeling. But I feel like it's more for people who really need a lot care, and less for people who are mentally acute and active. Many of the residents had dementia, and our loved one had a hard time finding people to talk to there. It was also very expensive for assisted living. I will say, they did reassess her and are giving me some money back. And they are very friendly - the staff are very sweet and nice.

I picked this community because, it was one of the only dedicated memory care (MC) facilities and was recommended by two friends who were using it for their parents. When a facility has combined MC and assisted living (AL), they often draw on untrained AL staff to help when they are short of MC staff. And that leads to even lower quality care.

More staff is needed to take care of residents in Memory Care. It would be nice to see more activities for them to do. I called in concerning a problem that occurred with my sister who is a resident and left a message with the RN. This was at 9:00am. At 4:00, l called back and was told she left for the day. This RN is one of the top people at the facility! We were told to call her with concerns. I'm not happy at all.

Every single staff member is kind and compassionate. But the overall look of the place could use updating. And the worst is the food - it's awful. I would still recommend based on how caring the staff are, but the facility and food need improvement.

They have had a lot of staff turnover in the leader ship and have not been great at communication. The new management has been very responsive so far. They don't have enough activities happening, but that is supposed to change soon

It's a lovely place. The people, for the most part, are very nice. My loved one seems to be enjoying the activities. But they are going to have to work on their food situation. Their chef has quit, and they have just whoever cooking. And that is not working out very well. Before he quit, the food was great. And that was one of the main reasons we brought her here - because she wasn't doing a good job cooking for herself. It seems they're doing everything they can and doing all the right things to hire somebody, but there's just a labor shortage currently.

My loved one was a resident here. They went the extra mile to care for her, but there was poor follow through with communication with the family. The staff also didn't communicate health concerns with each other or address them. They weren't on the same page with patient care, as far as knowing the resident's specific needs and continuing that care on the next shift. Initially, they told us they could provide the care she needed with her dementia. Ultimately, it cost more because they had to bring in outside help to meet her needs. That wasn't made clear initially as far as how they would meet her needs and that it would cost more. I would recommend them for assisted living, but not for dementia care.

This facility is very accommodating. The sales coordinator was very helpful. Housekeeping is fine. I would say it's a good choice.
