These rooms are very tiny and it appears most residents are in need of way more care than our parents do. We believe independent living may be the first step.

I toured this community while I was looking into care options for my loved one. I dropped by here twice, and took a tour officially on my third visit, and I just was not impressed by what I saw during any of these visits. I have a lot of experience with facilities like these, and I just can't recommend this place based on what I saw. The residents did not look happy, and the staff obviously treated what they did here as a job, they were not very personable or friendly.

The staff is very friendly. We haven't had any problems, except for the food. They go for the cheapest food services, they can get, the cheapest cuts of meat that kind of thing. Somebody else does the menu so it has a lot of carbohydrates. The food was good when we first moved in but then they changed chefs and it got bad, but he is back now so we are hoping it's going to get better. The activities are planned and put on the calendar but they never happen. They offer additional care and CNA's and we do have buttons if there is an emergency and they are quick to respond. The bathrooms are exceptionally large they are really good for those in walkers and wheelchairs. It was newer and nicer it is only two years old. It was on the Northwest side of town.

Can not keep up with residents clothes. Call 911 when not necessary. Not enough activities to keep residents active.

I feel that I do have some suggestions for them, we did not have a very pleasant experience moving in. First of all, the marketing person left the next day or two, I feel like they were not responsive to helping my mother get acclimated to that place. I felt like, for the first week or so she was getting a lot of different people and there was not one person assigned to her and for a dementia/alzheimer patient that is very difficult; I felt like for the first weeks or so there should have been somebody that could help her. I'm a novice with this so maybe theres a reason they do it that way but I feel their "on boarding" certainly lacks on help. I did not realize when she went there that she was as sick as she was and I had a hard time getting anybody to respond. Mom had a ring stolen and I know it was stolen, and I know things like that happen in places like this but her toilet kind of rocked, the lights were out, I was not pleased. They have an outstanding nurse director, Noah Barr, he is absolutely outstanding and I have been very, very pleased with him. When I met with him and told him that things in her room still hadn't been fixed we got up and went to her room right away and he got those things fixed. Most of the staff members are very good, they seem to be very caring and now that mom is feeling better, she's gotten a bit more acclimated and I don't have any problems with it. The food is excellent, when I look at what she has and the way it's prepared and presented, it's probably as good as any restaurant you could go to. The courtyard is very nice, it's not too large, but they have flowers that they probably get to plant which would be nice for my mom to do. She can't really rememebr when things are happening so we're working on getting them to encourage her.

I think, overall, Emeritus tries very hard. They have only been in this part of the business for just a tad voer a year and I think they need more experience. They only have one RN on staff, it's my understanding they're in the process of adding another one but he's over worked and he can't give them the care he needs to. They couldn't get her to take her medication, she was getting angry and hostile, and they finally suggested that we put her on a behavioral unit at a hospital to get her medications straightened out, they couldn't seem to do that here. I don't think she was abused, I think they did they did the best they could, but I would not recommend them. In fairness, she went from living at home, knowing that she had a problem and one day she was in a nursing home and I'm not sure she wouldn't have had the same reaction any place she went to.

I was concerned that there wasn't any staff members around. It was very small but that is the facility they have. I thought it was a little outdated.

building not as nice as it is 10 years old, there is memory support which is reassuring to me, harder to see this place as my mom is not at this level yet

Two separate units; wonder if units were not built at different times. Two additional units to be added once certificate of need is obtained. Something about facility just didn't hit me right.

Overall Walnut Ridge just didn’t seem as clean as the place we chose.

Due to the covid restrictions we are not bale to confirm if they are offering up any activities. They definitely need help with their billing system and operations and how to exactly process the paper work for long term care insurance. The rooms ah Richland Place are nice and adequate, but at the moment we would not recommend the community to others.

The med techs there are not the best. Luckily my mother knew how many pills she took and what they looked like. They would leave one out sometimes or leave one out but give her two of another. I worry about the ones who don't recognize their medications. This happened about 5 times in a 3 month period. They also would not let me know a week before her meds needed to be refilled. They often would wait until she was taking the last pill to let me know. She would press the button to tell them to come back to room because she noticed it was wrong but the response time is terrible there. Supposed to be 10 minutes but it was sometimes 30 minutes or more even. They often just turn the beeper off and ignore it while doing something else. They do have a good activities guy that is good with the tenants. His name is [name removed]. Some of the workers seem to really care and some do not.

The hands on staff there is great!!!! my grandmother really enjoys her stay there. The only problem me and my family have is with the medication staff and the nurse there is HORRIBLE there was always an issue with her medication. So now she is self medicating so we don’t have to deal with the medication issues.

They 'res a lot of good people working at Mallard Ridge and some not so good. I guess they've decided that older people don't care for quality food. One day at breakfast you get a meat and the next day you don't. Seems they can't afford hand towels either. I will say the place is clean though. I've often remade our family members bed. The top cover was somewhat neat, but the sheets looked like some had rolled in them. I'm sure the owners wouldn't want to have their family member there, having to eat the food. I do want to repeat, some of the staff are the best and really care about older adults. It's the bad ones that hurt the place, like one that put our family member and then told her that it was her break time. She left her there without the water running. I know some older adults are harder to get along with and stubborn. It takes a special person called to work with them. For what Mallard Ridge charges, they could do better. Guess the bigshots are enjoying their breakfast at a nice place. I've heard lots of people talk about the food being bad, even some employees.

My loved one has really had a hard time the first couple weeks at this community. I think the staff could use a lot of improvement in organization. My husband has been stuck in the bed or a chair and is just left all day with no help. This is becoming a problem because he is getting multiple bed sores on his body that are very painful. I have been very concerned for him and the lack of help he is getting throughout his day. I also have noticed a strong odor throughout the building the last couple days that are not very pleasant.

Great place regarding care, decor, and cleanliness. BUT food is terrible lately. Something should be done to better the situation.

I find this faclity highly over rated. Management lacks involvement with residences. Very little attention to residents by management. Very little structure. Meals are not very well planned for the elderly. Extremelly spicy even alternate. Example: chicken livers and onions or polish sausages and baked beans!!!! Not to good for those Sensitive digestive systems. Apartments are extremlely high compared to competition and any extra service has additional charges which are included at most facillities. Residents get very little attention unless addional charges Are added to your bill. Very disappointed! Assistants work very hard and do all they can with the little time they have. Weekends lack management supervision as does evenings during the week. I have been in supervision for 25 plus years and I see a lack of at this facility. I will be moving my loved one as soon as possible.

The caregivers are wonderful. We paid the admission fee of $2500 and the first month's rent and only were able to stay one month. None of the fee was refunded even though there were exceptional circumstances.

I would not recommend. I picked them because of lies.
